Alberts appointed as new Ajax manager

In what can only be described as a dramatic turn of events, the departure of Frank de Boer has paved the way for unproven Dutchman, Joos Alberts, to take the reins of Ajax. The 25 year old is said to be relishing the opportunity of honing his managerial capabilities at the Dutch giants, promising the club’s expectant fans that he will propel them into Europe’s elite.

Alberts takes charge at a club who have been ever-present in the Champions League in recent times; with a talented squad and financial stability, Ajax are a team who are out-performing their rivals in the Eredivisie, requiring success on Europe’s biggest stage to recreate the glory days of yesteryear. The objectives devised by the Ajax board will, undoubtedly, concern Champions League football, with domestic titles promised by the new manager:

“I have been employed here for a reason; to win domestic titles and improve this team’s chances in European competitions. I have been assured I have the board’s full backing, and we will work together to ensure that my tenure here is successful.”

Alberts is said to be taking a thorough evaluation of his squad and backroom staff, with inside reporters suggesting wholesale changes are likely to occur during the months of pre-season.
