Im playing as arsenal using database 9.0.3, and im almost at january and my scout says hes available for £9 million in january, but his contract expires in the summer. Should I risk trying to sign him on a free and possibly losing out on him altogether? If i buy in january I'd have to sell a player to fund it and I can only afford to sell a striker if Tevez comes in, and i have the original strikers at arsenal at the start of this game save.

I haven't seen much mention of people signing him for free in the first season, so I was wondering whether Man Utd sign him to a new contract in the course of the first season or does he always pick a different team, want overly high wages etc..

What would you say is the best way to sign Tevez? Is there even a chance of signing him for the amount my scout said amd have people managed signing him for free in the first season?
well he will most probably sign a new contract with United in FM 09. and it is always riskful to try to sign a player like him from a team like United.

so 9m now or i think you will never get him.
In my experience he always signs a new contract, he becomes their first team striker instead of berba.

Surely as Arsenal £9m isnt a stretch on your finances? If so, personally Id still spend the money and have tevez over adebayor, hes younger, much better mental stats etc.
I'd sell Adebayor and Bendtner, bring in Santa Cruz or Kerrison.
he always signs a new contract, and i doubt £9m will be enough to buy him, the scouts always underestimate how much the club would accept.

mite be around £15m but totally worth it. get rid of adebayor for around £20m
and sign artem milevskyi for £7.5m and if you can get tevez aswell for £9m then wooo to you.

I would go for Dzenko. But if you are dead set on tevez, you will need a big stiker next to him, he's a bit small..

not necessarily, he is a good target man on his own, if you play run on to. but then he requires some creative midfielders around him

You need someone big for corners though and crosses, Arsenal have quite a small team.

Crouch would solve all them problems lol
stop quoting so much ahaha. at times edit and remove some of the quotes or anything lile that so its just slightly less space taken and easier on the eye :):)
centre backs are for corners!

and just play through middle with a more narrow formation and more through balls to compensate for less crosses
I usually try and play two strikers who compensate for each other, a fast one and a tall one. Doesnt matter if the faster of the two is small, in tevez's case his mental stats such as off the ball and decisions more than make up for it, and he can take defenders on well. For a small guy hes pretty good at heading though to be fair.

In my current team (Hearts) ive got gary glen who is turning out to be a great all rounder, but mainly hes quick, and a regen, 20yr old dutch kid called roel verborne. Cost me £7mil, hes got finishing and composure 17, heading and jumping 16, pace and acceleration 15, so although at first i used him as a target man, hes fantastic all round, but gets his head to a lot.

Sorry for the long story....but my point is that having two strikers to complement each other is a great tactic, but if you play the right system it doesnt matter.
