THIS MATCH FINISHED 1-1
I think it is a valid criticism of the game

That's just an unlucky game, I'm afraid.
This happened to me once:
Luckily I was managing Brondby at the time so I was quite pleased, as you can imagine :P

It's just part and parcel of football, to be honest. We saw Chelsea park the bus against Barcelona, Manchester City, Liverpool, etc, in recent years and they got desirable results, despite conceding an endless amount of shots. At the end of the day; the team that converts more chances, wins the game.
I have to agree with Gus619 - the game is broken and really some manager-rubbish :(
I have played many football management games over the years, but FM14 is far beyond any doubt the worse.

First of all playing games should be fun. FM14 is not.
You should - overall - win more than you lose. In FM14 you don't.

FM14 reminds a lot more of a very complex excel sheet, where you have to have the right number in a specific row or column to win a championship or even a few games in a row.
Those who say that FM14 is the most realistic football manager games seems to forget that football is a game with people (and some luck), not just a countless row of numbers.

As a concrete example I've just been fired at Brøndby for I don't know which time. Every time I don't reach the end of the season. That's not fun in any way.
No matter how I manage the team, I don't win any games in a row (20 played this time). I finally lost 1-6 at home to Sønderjyske. That is NOT a realistic result - ever!
I conceeded a lot - A LOT - of goals, 34 in 20 games (and scoring 31). No way that could happen in real life.
I have tried different formations, different mentalities, diffenrent coaches, different players. I have tried to be consistant in formation, players and so on.
The result is always the same: Sacked before christmas!

Then I thougt, ok, let's try the less complicted version (FM14 Quickstart). But, hey, guess what? Still same result.

I don't mind hard games that challenges you and I have been playing games for over 30 years now, but FM is just plain (excel)rubbish in my opinion. Let's hope FM15 is far, far better :)
The game isn't in the least bit broken.

First of all playing games should be fun. FM14 is not.

Games are not all fun, its the challenge see Dark Souls, or Rouge like games, Football Manager is a simulator of being a football manager, I presume that job is stressful, competitive, and at times unforgiving, if it was all fun then hey more kids would be growing up aspiring to be a football manager.

You should - overall - win more than you lose. In FM14 you don't.

Again why? I didn't believe there was some unknown rule in football management about having to win more than lose, otherwise everything would be fixed.

I agree the game has become slightly more finicky recently due to change in the algorithm probably. But I've managed Brondby and did absolutely fine albeit for 2 seasons until it all went to shit in the third, so.....

Also Gus a valid critism of the game, I have beat someone on Fifa 8-1, Does that mean the other person has a valid critism of Fifa?
You miss my point - why play games that aren't fun? Any game (PC, tabletop, cardgames and so on) should be fun to play. Otherwise it's just a waste of time. You should be entertained.
As stated I don't mind hard games; they can indeed be very fun, but only when you make progress. In my experience with FM14 you (most of the time) don't. A good game should tease you, encourage you to press forward, not slowing you down or even make you stop.

And I'm not talking about that things should be fixed - I'm not a fan of that. It is pour logic you'll lose a bunch of games if you play strikers as defenders and so on, but that is not the case here.
You shouldn't lose a game 1-6 just because ONE defender is substituted for one match. That is just nonsense. A loss, okay, but not like that.

I don't mind losing - hey, as you said, that is the game of football. But when you lose in some unfair manner, then I mind. THEN it seems fixed.

I first played FM when it was called Championship Manager 96/97 and luckily a lot has changed for the better over the years. It has been a fun journey - until now.
Some people are sadistic, like erm whats that game... super gaiden... something like that, a rage game, although to be fair I agree with you in a sense. FM 14 has annoyed me at times, until I hit the right biting point its difficult, but only in the sense that it allows for less customization, and more simplified solutions making an issue of getting to the solution or attempted solution (if I'm making sense).

It does seem slightly more dodgy than the previous titles, but I wouldn't say it is over the top in its methods... not yet, but if it takes the same back step for fm 15 I will strongly be in your camp. At the moment just seeing how things play out for the next version
This game is definitely broken and anyone who thinks otherwise is either a deluded fanboy or an employee lol! We got to this point by the way because the makers have to justify the price of the game every season so keep tinkering and tinkering to the point where the game has become more fantasy game than a football management simulator!
I can only compare to the games I played, but yes, compared to CM4 and CM98 (or was it called something else in those days?) the game is kind of broken, but it beats certain other games, I think it was Total Club Manager 2007 in which if you said a certain thing in a press conference you lost the game (100% of the time). The RNG seems kind of bias but it does beat FM13 (goalie failures anyone?). The game doesn't compare to some of the older ones, but fanboys want the new teamlists and the rest of us need to suffer and lost game content because of it.

Well, you might not enjoy the game but I most certainly do. I'm not just saying that as an admin here but I genuinely did enjoy the challenge of bringing lowly teams to the pinnacle of world football. Just because you can't crack it doesn't mean that it's unplayable, some people have an ability to play the game and some people don't. Just like chess, just like any other game; it takes a certain amount of natural ability and a certain amount of learning the game to get good at it.

So basically I'm a deluded fanboy for thinking that FM14 is a good game? I don't mind it when people share their opinions but being offensive to others for having a justified, non-offensive opinion is just not nice at all. You don't like the game? Fine, but don't take it out on people who do.
Sorry guys, the game is not broken. FM is a hard game, sometimes really, really hard. Sometimes you get the sack, and other times you become club legend and get a stadium named after you. The thing thats great about FM is that you really value success because you know that bad times always are lurking right around the corner.
