Gladbach: Colombian Invasion

Borussia Monchengladbach have today announced the signing of three new players, all from Colombia. The players will join up with the other Colombian star in the Gladbach squad, Eder Alvarez Balanta. The deal further fuels rumours that Favre is looking to build an empire of global talent at Gladbach, as he also includes players from Martinique and Moldova among his setup.
The first player to sign for Gladbach is Jeison Murillo. The 24 year old centre-back, who has been capped 26 times for Colombia, cost Gladbach a total of £5.5M from Real Madrid. Murillo, who worked his way up through Spanish football, made his debut against Belgium just before the 2014 World Cup, and used to play for Granada.
Next to sign was Juan Fernando Quintero. The former Envigado player was chased by Gladbach two seasons ago, but his price was deemed too much on that occasion. However, this time Gladbach found that they could go in for Quintero with a £2.6M bid. The attacking midfielder is known for his fantastic technical attributes, and is a very exciting player. He joins from Porto.
Finally, Gladbach have signed James Rodriguez. The Colombian, formerly of Monaco, joined Real Madrid for a huge £68M, and had three seasons with Los Galacticos. However, he struggled there, and has joined Gladbach for a deal worth £16.5M. Rodriguez, who also played for Porto when he was younger, has 54 caps for his national team, scoring 10 goals.
Gladbach have also announced that their merchandising sales have shot up, especially in Colombia and South America.
