The situation in Real Madrid is as many would expect, there are just too many world class players competing for too few positions. This has led to much speculation regarding the future of many of their under performing stars and one name that has filled the transfer columns in recent weeks has been the Spanish star Isco. Following his move from Malaga after an outstanding season he has struggled to force his way into Ancelotti's plans finding it hard to adapt to his 4-3-3 formation.

New Monaco boss Patrick Vieira is understood to be keen to bring in a big name to clarify his ambition and desire to win trophies at Monaco and Isco would do exactly that. His ability is unquestionable and would be seen as perhaps the perfect replacement for the recently departed James Rodriguez. It is too early to say definitively that this transfer will happen and some in the spanish media are suggestion Isco may not find settling into a new country and culture easy especially with a lack of Spanish speaking team mates at Monaco but if this signing does come off it will be a great show of intent from Monaco that will prove to their title rivals this season that they mean business.

Just hours after the news broke that Real Madrid playmaker Isco had declared his desire to stay and fight for his place at Real Madrid, Monaco manager Patrick Vieira has been seen in the streets of Valencia. This has sparked major interest in the purpose of his visit. The obvious reason would be that he is in the market for a player and we have sources close to the club that either Ever Banega or Sofiane Feghouli are the most likely to attract the interest of Monaco. It is unlikely that Valencia will want to part with the latter after his outstanding performances lately for the club but the financial draw of Monaco may be too much for him.

Vieira is rumoured to be in the market for a number 10 and wingers in order to establish a 4-2-3-1 formation at the club and with the only options for those positions at the minute being occupied by the youth of the club in particular Lucas Ocampos. Vieira is looking for established personnel and Feghouli would fit that bill. Valencia fans will be hoping that Banega is the name that is on the former Arsenal players shopping list as the interest in him from other clubs could force a bidding war and an inflated price could help to solve the clubs financial troubles.

Monaco today have completed the signing of two wingers from La Liga. The first of which is Sofiane Feghouli who was a well reported target for the club as we brought you the news of Vieira being spotted in Valencia going for talks with him and his club. The rumoured fee for this deal is €13.75m with the player himself set to earn a health €65,000 per week. Feghouli is a number 10 who is equally adept at playing out wide on the right hand side and provides manager Patrick Vieira with some quality and versatility in his attempt to forge a 4-2-3-1 formation at his new club. Feghouli had the following to say when joining the club.

"Monaco are a top club, it would take a fool to question that. Their meteoric rise back to the peak of French football shows the ambition of both the club and the chairman and I hope to repay the faith they have shown by pursuing me with great performances on the pitch. I would like to thank Valencia for making me the player I am today and setting me on the right path for me to now develop as a player and as a man at my new club, Monaco."

Patrick Vieira was also keen to highlight his delight at the fact his new signing speaks French and will make it easy for both himself and the rest of his team to communicate with him making the bedding in period much easier.


As for the second signing Monaco officials swiftly moved across Spain to finalise the deal for want away winger Cristian Rodriguez from Atletico Madrid. Rodriguez was part of the Atletico Madrid side that won La Liga last year and finished runners up the UEFA Champions League but it is understood manager Diego Simeone has deemed him surplus to requirements. The deal is for a reported €2.9m and the player will earn a modest €35,000 per week during his stay at the principality club. The Uruguayan international has been linked with a host of Premier League clubs in recent weeks including West Brom and Sunderland but Monaco have moved swiftly to recruit the winger who also speaks French. It is only early in the transfer window but it would appear French speaking players are high on the priority list of new manager Patrick Vieira. Rodriguez had the following to say on his move.

"I am delighted to join Monaco and to be playing in France again, a league I know so well from my time at PSG. The league is rising in stature and I hope to play a key role in both the leagues but more importantly Monaco's rise to the top of the footballing world".

Manager Patrick Vieira is unlikely to stop their with much more potential recruitment on the horizon.

Some decent signings, always thought Feghouli was good!

Monaco have today confirmed the signings of three domestic based players; Bruno Ecuélé Manga, André Ayew and finally Morgan Amalfitano on loan. Manga joins for a fee of €6.5m from FC Lorient and will earn €37,500 per week. He was rumoured to be signed to partner Aymen Abdennour at the heart of the Monaco defence which would leave them with a pacey and formidable back line with plenty of Ligue 1 experience. The second signing, André Ayew joins from fellow title rivals Marseille for €18m and will earn €70,000 per week. Ayew will provide excellent quality and hard work on the left flank as well as a vast amount of both Ligue 1 and Champions League experience beyond his age. Ayew has been knocking on the door of some of Europe's elite and it would appear the financial backing at Monaco has given him the opportunity to play on the biggest stage that his ability deserves. The final signing of the trio is Morgan Amalfitano who joins along with Ayew from Marseille but this time on a season long loan. It is unknown if their is a option to purchase the player at the end of the loan period but it is considered by many that this signing whilst weakening their title rivals and strengthening themselves without paying any more than half of the players wages is a smart move from Patrick Vieira. Monaco have now signed 5 players this summer and although the business will surely dry up soon it is rumoured Patrick Vieira is still in the market to strengthen both the right hand side of defence and the number 10 position that has become so pivotal in the modern game.

Today sees what surely will be the final spending by Monaco as manager Patrick Vieira completes his sixth and seventh signings of the summer. The first of which is Udinese right wing back Allan Nyom for a modest €5.5m. The player will earn just €25,000 a week during his stay at the French club and this is regarded by many in French football to be Monaco's best signing in terms of shrewd financial work this summer. Nyom has made a name for himself in Spain with Granada as a marauding right back who enjoys nothing more than causing defences havoc with his late runs. He is still very solid in defence and for the price Monaco have paid he is a real contender for signing of the season in France. The second signing is a much more expensive one and that is the signing of Romanian starlet Alexandru Maxim from Stuttgart for €15.25m. The 23 year old established international will earn €50,000 a week during his stay in France, a country he hopes will be easy to settle into due to his speaking of the language. Maxim is considered to be one of the brightest talents in the Bundesliga and can operate anywhere across the attacking trio that Vieira is expected to deploy in the upcoming season.
