McDermott Quits Leeds Post

In an astounding turn of events, Brian McDermott has left Leeds United just three months into his tenure at Elland Road. As yet, there has been no reason given by McDermott himself but sources close to the former Reading boss say that the decision came as a result of family problems.

The front runners for the job are Gordon Strachan (3/1), Gus Poyet (9/1), Mick McCarthy (11/1) and Josh Townend (27/2). There has been no comment by either of the favourites.
TOWNEND LANDS LEEDS JOB

Leeds United have made their move to sign ex-Everton, Leeds, Aston Villa and Bradford City midfielder and England international Josh Townend as the new permanent manager in charge of the club. The Yorkshireman- born and bred in Leeds and raised as a Leeds fan- is said to bring a wave of enthusiasm and ambition to the Leeds United dugout and is reported to have told owners GFH Capital and chairman Salah Nooruddin that he believes the club should be aiming for promotion this season. When asked about this, Townend said this:

"I believe we have a very strong squad at this club and with the right financial backing, we can move to sign the targets that will get us playing at a high enough level. The academy has churned out some fantastic youngsters recently, with the likes of Tom Lees, Sam Byram and Dominic Poleon all having made senior appearances recently, and don't be surprised to see more come through the ranks"

CUMMINGS AND GOMEZ DEALS FALL THROUGH

According to a well-known source, the deals to take Reading's Shaun Cummings and Wigan's Jordi Gomez to Leeds United have fallen through. Leeds had reached an informal arrangement with Reading over a £2.5m deal for Shaun Cummings, but it is believed that Reading manager Nigel Adkins has now raised the demands for the right-back, which Leeds boss Josh Townend wasn't prepared to meet.

Townend is also said to have called off a £900,000 agreement with Wigan over Jordi Gomez, however a reason is yet to be given for this decision.

A god start but it seems to be lacking something; maybe a bit more detail in the posts or the use of images will make it more interesting to look at...just some advice, take it or leave it :)

Well what I'll do is when I get to the eve of my first game of the season against Brighton, I'll do like a massive summary giving an overview on how pre-season went with screenshots etc

TESCHE REJECTS LEEDS

Hamburger SV wing-back Robert Tesche has turned down a move to Leeds United in favour of a more local move to Augsburg in his native Germany. The 26-year-old had informally accepted a 3-year deal with the Yorkshire club but has turned it down in favour of a more local move.

This still leaves Leeds searching for another attacking midfielder to challenge Guly do Prado for a place and rumour has it that the club are looking to restart negotiations with Wigan Athletic over Spaniard Jordi Gomez.

PRE-SEASON OVERVIEW: TRANSFERS

Failure to sign a right-back to challenge Byram for a place aside, it has been a mostly successful transfer window for players brought in.

Guly do Prado brings experience to the side having been a part of the Southampton side that achieved back-to-back promotions in 2011 and 2012 and is a technically gifted player, able to pick a good pass.

Rhoys Wiggins brings a combination of energy and fire power, which is exactly what is needed in a wing back to allow him to bomb up and down the flanks, meaning he can spend 90 minutes terrorising both opposition attackers and defenders.

Ryan Stevenson brings a wealth of experience across various leagues, and a reasonable passing ability accompanied by solid physical attributes and the ability to head a ball which is always a bonus.
