I was sitting and reading my book, and thinking to myself how much Swansea City had given me and to my career. Re-publishing my book "The Alan Curtis Story" with further details of being a Swansea legend as they honored me by placing my name on the stadium walls a couple of years ago, was a great idea, the fans truly felt that I loved the club. Remembering the times I had with the club not only as a player but also as a manager, brought tears to my eyes.

It made me feel sad to hear about the constant disruption the club was facing and I feared the negativity and conflict would affect the team when the season would get started. Laudrup had left the club in shambles, upsetting the players and throwing us into near bankruptcy. I had thought Gary was having a better time at the club after taking up the management role but I was sadly mistaken, weren't we all?

5 minutes later, I recieved a call, to my surprise it was Mr.Jenkins a close friend of mine and also the Swansea Chairman. He told me the situation at the club had gotten far worse and Gary would be leaving the club immediately.

What was it in form me? He wanted me to take over. I thought about two things in that one moment, firstly, I had my hands itching for this opportunity ever since I had the small stint back in 2004, and secondly, this was going to be hell of a ride.

Garry Monk leaves Swansea City

Garry Monk has left the club, following a dispute with the clubs hierarchy regarding the financial status of the club and also the direction the club was going in. Josep Clotet will temporarily take over from Monk as Swansea City hunt down the footballing world for an appropriate manager. Clotet had been Monk's helping hand ever since Monk had taken control.

But rumors had been rising that in recent times they could not stare each other in the eye, following some comments Monk had made about Clotet in the dressing room.

Swansea City released a statement at 2pm on 30th June saying:-
"We would like to announce that Garry Monk has left the club. The club would like to thank him for his service following his long career as a player and short stint as a manager, his hard work was the most commendable on the pitch."

Monk took to twitter to thank the club and accept the situation and move on as he said:- "Thank You Swansea, I have spent a long time at the club and leave with no regrets at what I have achieved. Wish you the best of luck and same goes to the fans!"
Great start keep it up:)

Alan Curtis takes the reigns at Swansea

Among recent reports in the last 24 hours, Swansea City chairman Huw Jenkins has confirmed the appointment of Alan Curtis as their new manager on a 3 year deal.

The 60 year-old has been given legendary status at the club after remembering his performances of the past as a player, he also had a small stint at the head of the club back in 2004. Nonetheless after hovering around different jobs at other clubs and Swansea itself he has finally, made the big move up the ladder.

He has played his football at clubs like Swansea City, Leeds United, Southampton, Stoke City and even Cardiff City. He has nominal previous experience as a professional football manager but, has been building up his reputation as a coach.

Curtis will meet up with the squad ahead of some Friendly fixtures on July 2nd.
This is what he said about his appointment:-

"It's a great honor to be asked to be the manager of Swansea City."

"I am delighted that Mr.Jenkins saw me to be the perfect fit. I have great respect for everything he has done for the football club."

"Between now and the end of the season, I will do everything in my power to make sure we finish as high as possible in the table."

"I know how hard it will be to recover from the situation at the club immediately but, with the right support from the board and supporters each next step will only improve our performance."

"Swansea City will only get better."
good start mate, and good luck

Backroom Staff Overhauled at Swansea

Picture: New Swansea Assistant Manager Alexander Zickler

Swansea's new manager Alan Curtis made his first major decisions by relieving Josep Clotet of Assistant Manager duties and allowing him to continue his stay at the club as a coach.

With the backroom staff at Swansea being extremely depleted following the recent turmoil at the club he brought in the following staff members:-

Alexander Zickler was appointed as the new Assistant Manager, the former German international and Bayern Munich and Red Bull Salzburg striker will give Swansea a new attacking edge. Carles Busquets followed him as he was appointed the Head Goalkeeping Coach, Busquets spent most of his career playing his football for Barcelona.

Alan Curbishley was also appointed to man up the midfield and defense as a Coach. The former West Ham United player and manager brings much enthusiasm and a new insight to the club following his spells as a T.V. pundit.

Finally, noticing the lack of fitness of the players Curtis took it a step further by hiring 2 quality Fitness Coaches, Claudio Gaudino and Paul Winsper.

Gaudino joins Swansea following successful spells in Italy at Juventus and Inter Milan as their Fitness Coach.

Winsper joins the club after leaving his job as the Sports Performance Director at Nike, he is also a well known English fitness expert.
great start mate: welcome to the site, and good luck :)

Curtis adds Strandberg to the ranks

Alan Curtis has finalized a deal for Norwegian international center-half, Stefan Strandberg. He joins Swansea from Norwegian sleeping giants Rosenborg. The 23 year old is said to have a bright future ahead of him, and Curtis has spotted his potential.

It is rumored that the club has splashed £300,000 on the player, which may seem a tiny amount of funds but considering Swansea's financial condition at the moment, Curtis better hope Strandberg proves himself at the club or this purchase could face major criticism. He joins on a 4 year deal that will pocket him £12,000 a week.

Curtis was all praises about the player as he said," He is a good young lad and has tremendous potential. Top strikers will fear him in the league once he gets used to it."

Swansea snap up Annan

Swansea City confirmed the free transfer of Anthony Annan on their website today morning. The former Rosenborg midifielder was released just weeks before from Schalke 04 after enjoying a 4 year spell at the club. He has also played his football in Spain and Holland for Osasuna and Vitesse respectively.

He joins the ranks along with Stefan Strandberg who's transfer has already been confirmed. Annan will earn £26,500 per week over the next four years. The experienced and industrious midfielder received great encouragement from his new manager.

"He is a player who works hard for every moment of that he is on the pitch. Players of his type motivate others as well to work harder and perform. He will give us added depth in the midfield areas ahead of the new campaign and will be a hit with the fans because of his tremendous work-rate." Curtis said.

Ruben completes move to Swansea

As rumors have gathered pace that Neil Taylor will be leaving the Liberty Stadium soon, Manager Alan Curtis has been preparing for life after Taylor considering, the move he has completed for Ruben. The Portuguese left-back has arrived from Maritimo for a handsome fee of £950,000.

This sizable transfer fee has also sparked rumors that even if a move away from Swansea fails to occur for Neil Taylor, he will be benched as second choice. Ruben has acquired a 4 year contract in which he will be earning £17,000 per week.

Swansea Manager Alan Curtis had this to say about the signing," He is a bright young lad with tremendous ability on and of the ball. He is both good at attacking and defending. I see him being a first choice player for his national team in a few years as well."

The manager also ridiculed the rumors of Taylor leaving by saying," We now have two quality players in one position, why let Neil go? Davies left us and we needed to add depth to the position so we brought a player in. They are both top quality and will fairly compete for a spot in the team."
Liked the overall you've done in the staff and the signing of Strandbeeg. Good updates!

Ings signs; questions asked

We have received confirmation of Burnley forward Danny Ings transfering to Swansea City. Swansea will be paying an initial fee of about £1,800,000 with future add-ons which could make the deal worth a total of about £7,750,000 for the Englishman.

Ings will be raking in £19,000 a week for the next four years. He will be joining the already made signings of Strandberg, Annan and Ruben, and the rest of the squad in the coming days."It's a great opportunity for me to prove myself at the top level now, can't wait to meet my new team-mates and start playing games for this club." said Ings.

The Swansea manager happily welcomed Ings to the club," It's great to have him here, we are in a time of transition and he will be key to the future as he continues to develop. He has the right abilities to fit into this team straight away upfront. Lets hope he does really well."

Upon the completion of this signing the media has constantly asked manager Alan Curtis whether they will be losing some players as well. Curtis admitted sadly that the signings he had made would only be financed by some sales from the clubs already existing players, he said," We started the transfer window without too much money in the bank and it would be very hard to stay afloat with our finances if we don't let go of some of our players."

So stay tuned for more transfers of players away from Swansea!
Good to see Ings away from Burnley - good luck.
