Thanks. I will be writing the story until I purchase FM2015 when I will be starting a brand new story :)
The story is going well, as usual. I hope you make another Liverpool story when FM15 comes out. YNWA

Thank you. I am glad you are enjoying it. I am not sure about another Liverpool story but I have missed managing them on FM14 so you never know ;)

Title Warning!

If there was going to be a month where Arsenal had the opportunity to stamp their mark on the Premier League title fight, it was December. Within this month Arsenal were put up against Spurs in the Capital One Cup, Chelsea, Manchester City and Liverpool. At the beginning of the month Arsenal fans were suggesting that they would get past Spurs with ease and make up for the disappointment they suffered on the first day of the league season. They wanted the Gunners to achieve at least six points from the games against Chelsea, City and Liverpool; they didn’t make it clear which teams they would be able to beat.

Up came first the Capital One Cup tie against Spurs at the quarter final stage. Prior to the game, Tony Adams shocked football fans by giving Szczesny the nod instead of Viviano who had played in all the previous rounds. Some fans felt that Adams had let Viviano down and had played down the part he had played in all the previous rounds. Adams refused to comment on this decision but instead focused his pre match conference on the challenges ahead. After the game it seemed that Adams’ decision was vindicated as Szczesny stepped up and saved penalties from Lamela and Chiriches to help Arsenal reach the semi final stage where they will face off against Southampton.

The game against Chelsea is one that the Arsenal fans will want to quickly forget. Jose Mourinho made it clear before the game that he wanted to dint Arsenal’s title challenge if not put a stop to it altogether. In terms of statistics, Chelsea played Arsenal off the pitch despite Oxlade-Chamberlain scoring the first goal of the game. However, it did take Chelsea until the ninenty-first minute to grab the winner. The result hasn’t necessarily put a dint in Arsenal’s title challenge as the result still left them at the top of the league with a nine point gap between them and second place Chelsea. Mourinho suggested after the game that Arsenal would have to step up their game if they wanted to get their hands on the league trophy.

The match up against Liverpool and Arsenal was proof that having high percentage in terms of possession doesn’t always get you the three points. Liverpool walked away from the game with 52% overall possession but no points as Arsenal did better on the score sheet helping themselves to four goals compared to Liverpool’s single goal. Despite Raheem Sterling’s efforts, Walcott, Cazorla and Volland scored the goals to help Arsenal send out a title warning to all the other challengers. Luis Suarez was piped to single handily to win the game for the Merseyside club. However, Arsenal’s defenders shut the door whenever the Uruguayan got a touch of the ball and he didn’t get a sniff all game. Brendan Rodgers expressed his admiration for the way Arsenal approached the game and suggested that Arsenal would walk away with the league title if they performed like they did against his side against other teams in the future.

The next big challenge for Arsenal was the 2012 Premier League winners, Manchester City. So far City had had a good season and sat in third place behind Arsenal and Chelsea. The bookies found it very difficult to separate the two sides but hinted that Arsenal could have the potential to run away with the league title if they got a positive result. Nobody however will have put a bet on for Arsenal to repeat the result they achieved against Liverpool and get themselves a 4-1 win. Santi Cazorla put in a sensational performance which saw him get two goals while the other two goals were scored by Walcott and Wilshere. Arsenal dominated the match on all fronts and it appeared one match too far for Manchester City. After the game Manuel Pellegrini stated that his side were ”out played and couldn’t come up with a response and couldn’t match the quality Arsenal had on show.”Tony Adams acknowledged and agreed with the City boss’ comments and suggested that he could potentially change the expectations he set of the team at the beginning of the season.
Unlucky against Chelsea, some great results nevertheless. At least you got the 6 points you hoped for!

We achieved what we needed to in what was a very difficult month. We need to really kick on now!

Fierro Joins Gunners

Arsenal Football Club have taken to their official twitter to confirm the signing of Carlos Fierro from Mexican club Chivas. It is unclear what fee has been agreed but it is reported that the deal was signed back in November after the loss against Atletico Madrid. It isn’t clear whether this single result was the reasoning behind the Gunners signing the youngster on a four year contract but it seems Fierro will play understudy to Olivier Giroud who is second in the Premier League scoring charts.

Carlos Fierro has taken to his own Twitter account to share a picture of him holding an Arsenal shirt with the number 23 on the back. He spoke of his delight at signing for a club that he has admired since he was young. He expressed his eagerness to get started and hopefully hit the ground running at the start of the new chapter in his footballing career.

Unfortunately a result of Carlos Fierro signing for Arsenal, it appears that Lukas Podolski’s career is over as he has been placed on the transfer list with a number of clubs showing interest in the German player. Podolski has spoke of his disappointment at not being much of a look in so far this season but has said he is determined to prove his worth to the club with the aim of seeing out his contract at the club.

Swanson and Wilshere Interview

Arsenal is certainly the club that have beaten all expectations since Tony Adams took over from long serving manager, Arsene Wenger. A lot of people, including many Arsenal fans, did not predict that by the end of January that their club would be sat at the top of the Premier League table with a comfortable fifteen point gap between second placed Chelsea. One of the players that has been acknowledged by Tony Adams for his contribution to Arsenal’s success so far this season is Jack Wilshere. Adams believes that Wilshere is starting to change his game for the better and has singled him out as a potential future captain. Bryan Swanson, chief news reporter for Sky Sports News HQ, sat down with Jack to discuss comments from his manager, how he feels Arsenal have done so far and the transfer rumours that surround him.

Bryan Swanson:Jack, how would you sum up your performances so far this season?
Jack Wilshere:I feel that this season has been my best season so far at Arsenal and it is one that I have thoroughly enjoyed so far. As a player I am always looking to improve and develop my game so I can become the best I can be.

Bryan Swanson:Is there a particular game so far this season that stands out for you?
Jack Wilshere:For me personally it has got to be the 2-1 win against Spurs at the beginning of this month. We were coming off the back of two great performances against Liverpool and City and we did go out their wanting to make it up to the fans for the poor showing on the first day of the season. We owed it to them and I feel that we delivered. I felt on a personal level that I had a good game; I contributed to Ox’s goal that helped us get the vital three points.

Bryan Swanson:Is there a game that sticks in your mind for all the wrong reasons?
Jack Wilshere:It has to be either the first game of the season against Spurs or the 2-1 win against Chelsea. The poor showing against Spurs has got to be the one; you want to set out your intentions from the go but we didn’t do that and instead deserved to be beaten and thankfully we haven’t had to experience that much since.

Bryan Swanson:So far this season Arsenal have done well in every competition. You are now out of the FA Cup but you are still competing in the Premier League, Champions League and Capital One Cup. What is the club’s priority this season? A league title or is it to finally win that Champions League trophy?
Jack Wilshere:For a club like Arsenal and one of its stature, we should be competing on all fronts season after season. We were disappointed to lose in the last round to Everton but it has allowed us to focus elsewhere. We are doing really well in the league at the minute and have built up a nice gap but we cannot afford to take our foot off the pedal or else we will be punished by the chasing pack. Every Arsenal fans wants to see us do well in the Champions League and go one step further than we did back in 2006. We will be putting everything into each competition and hopefully we will experience success across the board.

Bryan Swanson:The manager has come out and said you could potentially be a future Arsenal captain. What do you think when you hear comments like that been said? Is it an ambition of yours.
Jack Wilshere:It is definitely an ambition of mine to become the captain of the club but I can’t see it happening anytime soon. I think there are a lot of players in line ahead of me but it is a responsibility I would like to be given in the future.

Bryan Swanson:Who would you say is ahead of you?
Jack Wilshere:To be honest, due to the sheer determination all the lads are showing at the minute to do well for the club, I think anyone could step in and do the job and do it well. At the minute we are very fortunate to have Thomas (Vermaelen) leading us out as captain and to have Mikel (Arteta) there as vice captain.

Bryan Swanson:When a team is successful, they are surrounded by transfer speculation. Per Mertesacker has been linked with various clubs, Aaron Ramsey to Chelsea and you have been linked with a move to Manchester City. What are your thoughts on this?
Jack Wilshere:I’m sure I can speak on behalf of Aaron and Per and make it clear that our sole focus is on continuing to work hard with the aim of bringing silverware to the Emirates Stadium. We don’t tend to take notice of transfer speculation and we won’t begin to take any notice any time soon.

Bryan Swanson:Do you ever see yourself moving on to a different venture? Is City a possibility in the future?
Jack Wilshere:Look I’ve got a contract at Arsenal for another four years. I am an Arsenal player as we speak and I intend on seeing out my contract. My future will be determined after those four years if not before. At the moment I just want to focus on developing my game so I can carry on playing at the highest level and go on to be the best I can be.
I'm going to put an end to this story. It just isn't me! Get me back to lower league management which is an actual challenge. Thank you for the views this story achieved :) I won't have another story until FM15 but instead enjoy others'. Thank you.
