Hello all, welcome to my first FM Story, I will take hold of FC Porto. Porto are arguably the top team in Portugal, along with SL Benfica and Sporting. They have won the Premiera Liga 26 times, the Taca de Portugal 16 times, the EUFA Super Cup once, the UEFA Europa League twice and the UEFA Champions League twice. A club filled with great history also makes it, as Porto are a club renowned with giving youngsters a chance to shine. Colombian greats Falcao and, now Real star, James Rodriguez both left Porto in recent years for grand fees.

Wish me luck on my Portuguese journey, as I aim to take FC Porto back to the top of Portugal - and eventually, Europe!

Lopetegui Left?

In a shock chain of events, FC Porto Manager Julen Lopetegui has decided to resign from his post as manager of the Portuguese giants. "I regret to inform the club that due to family constraints and problems in my social circle. I must leave my job as manager, however I hope FC Porto and all associated with it a great future. Good-day." Lopetegui left his seat at the conference and left the stadium, this amid rumours that Porto already had two big signings in the works, Chelsea's Nemanja Matic and Udinese's Luis Muriel. It will be left to be seen whether these signings will plan out.

Manager-less Porto Bring in Big Names

FC Porto, amidst a change of management, have made two big signings so far. The Portuguese giants have completed the signing of Udinese's Luis Muriel for €12.5M. Muriel was rumoured to be Benfica's big summer signing, although it seems Porto poached the player from the league winners grasp. Porto have also managed to capture the services of Manchester United's Antonio Valencia on a one-year loan deal worth 190k per month. Muriel's signing has left some Porto fans wondering about Jackson Martinez's future at the club.
Wow, Muriel and Martinez up front :O .

Porto Confirm The New Manager

After the resignation of manager Julen Lopetegui, Portuguese club FC Porto has been looking for a new manager. After speculation of Diego Simeone and Andre Villas-Boas taking over the job, Porto have confirmed that former Portuguese football player Nemanja Couto has taken over the helm. Couto is of Portuguese birth and Serbian descent, born in Porto by a Serbian Mother and Portuguese Father he grew up in Manchester, England. Nemanja is a lifelong fan of Manchester United although due to his Portuguese influence he has always had an affection FC Porto. Fans have been left speculating over how the new man can improve the club as Porto look to reclaim the league from fierce rivals SL Benfica.

I know right! Plus I've got Kelvin, Valencia, Tello, Olivier (Atletico Loanee) and Casemiro as viable support. Talk about options!

Pre-Season Report

Shalke 6-2 Porto
Bayern 2-0 Porto
Everton 2-0 Porto

Holy god. This was not what I wanted or expected, but lets be honest here, none of those sides are easy. I was pleased with our performances in the last two games as I changed my tactics for those games, switching to a 4-2-2-2. I can take some relief in the fact I have multiple options in every position and that we had to use Andres, our back up keeper in the Shalke and Everton games. We also have a tough fight for the Champions League as we drew LOSC Lille in the best placed play-off. I'll have to try and neutralize Liverpool loanee Divock Origi, He's a pacey player with decent finishing.

I can also confirm we have signed Cheick Tiote and Alessio Cerci for a combined €21M

August Report

Braga 0-1 Porto

Premiera Liga
Adrian, 27, BRA 0-1 FCP

Poor game from both sides. Adrian got a lucky break from Braga's defensive error.

LOSC 2-1 Porto

Champions League Play-Off
Saloman Kalou, 19, LOSC 1-0 FCP
Kelvin, 47, LOSC 1-1 FCP
Jean-Christophe Bahebeck, LOSC 2-1 FCP

We got dominated in France but fortunately managed to grab an invaluable away goal by an outstanding Kelvin. Jackson Martinez injured for 3 weeks.

Porto 1-0 Maritimo

Premiera Liga
Fransergio o.g., 45, FCP 1-0 MAR

Not much to say, we deserved more than we got but Martinez's absence was noticeable.

Porto 2(3)-(5)3 LOSC

Champions League Play-Off
Maicon, 4, FCP 1(2)-(2)0 LOSC
Florent Beaumont, 26, FCP 1(2)-(3)1 LOSC
Saloman Kalou, 33, FCP 1(2)-(4)2 LOSC
Vincent Enyeama o.g., 35, FCP 2(3)-(4)2 LOSC
Simon Kjaer, 72, FCP 2(3)-(5)3 LOSC

Unfortunately lost at home again by only one goal, but that seems to of been making the difference in all my games so far. Despite losing the Champions League before it began, I am looking to make my mark on Europe in the Europa League.

Premiera League: 3rd Place, 2 games, 6 points.
Champions League: Knocked Out
Europa League Group Stage F: FC Porto, Besiktas, Rea; Sociedad and Hull
Unlucky in Champions League but Europa League seems a realistic target to do well in, will be following :)

Unlucky about pre-season and the Champions League, but you can win the Europa League.

Ps: I would remove the bit saying the score after each goal, as personally it confuses the way it all looks :) .
@TheSturridge, I'll win it for you Big Danny!

@JoeTheQuin, Thanks for the advice, will do!

September Report

FCP 3-0 Arouca

Premiera Liga
GOAL! FCP, DANILO, 6!
GOAL! FCP, DANILO, penalty 32!
GOAL! FCP, Juan Fernando QUINTERO, 80

Strong performance in a dominating game. Martinez and Muriel's injuries offset by two assists by rotation player Adrian Lopez.

Nacional de Madiera 2-1 FCP

Premiera Liga
GOAL! FCP, Juan Fernando QUINTERO, 51!
GOAL! Nacional, Diego BARCELOS, 53!
GOAL! Nacional, Mario RONDON, 73!

Poor, poor game. Muriel was back however I decided to use a new tactic against the weaker side. Didn't work at all as we lost to Nacional de Madiera. League rivals SLB continued to pick up points. putting us to 2nd in the Premiera Liga.

FCP 1-1 Besiktas

EUFA Europa League
GOAL! FCP, Luis MURIEL, 23!
GAOL! Besiktas, Demba BA, 7

Very close game. Demba Ba almost snatched Besiktas the win when he went through on goal in stoppage time. Fantastic performance for Valencia, constantly threatening down the right wing.

FCP 2-1 Vit. Guimaraes

Premiera Liga
GOAL! FCP, MAICON, 45!
GOAL! FCP, Luis MURIEL, 61!
GOAL! Guimaraes, Moussa MAAZOU, 70!

Once again an easy game. Shame we didn't get more goals. Luis Muriel was always in the right place but Vit. Guimaraes goalkeeper had a great day.

Belenenses 0-2 FCP

Premiera Liga
GOAL! FCP, Luis MURIEL, 14!
GOAL! FCP, Bruno MARTINS INDI, 90!

Fantastic display away from home. We destroyed them but should have scored more really. Muriel consistently superb. We'll go away from this game confident of a result in Spain against a strong Real Sociedad side. I'll have to watch out for Carlos Vela (a Player I love on FM, Inigo Martinez and Xabi Prieto.

Standings

Premira Liga: 2nd
Europa League Group F: 2nd
Taca de Portugal 3rd Round Opponent: Juventude Evora
