I didn't know where to post this so thought I'd just ask in here.

Ive tried writing a few stories on this forum before as I love FM and I think the writers on this site and their stories are top notch. There's no other place quite like FMScout for a good FM Manager story!

My problem and subsequent question therefore is: How do you keep yourselves motivated to keep writing and how do you keep on top of your updates and posting times.

I really seem to fail at these things. I either get too far ahead and miss certain updates events and screenshots. Or I get demotivated because my team isn't achieving and feel like who would want to read a story about my bad management haha!

Any tips and advice would be appreciated as I would love to try again to write a story but this time I want it to last and be as good as I can make it :)
Ummm, only write when you want to write, and don't force out updates/play the save when you don't want to. This ruins it for you. When you are not motivated, don't write really, and then you will get back into it

What Tallery said is a good thing. When you feel you want to update it I didn't write and just played the game and that got my motivation back

Don't worry about the results and the way your team are performing it's your story as long as you're happy it shouldn't matter. Another good thing to do if you can is have two stories going at the same time to update as it will give you a change of pace

I mean I've got an Everton story going with not a lot of people reading it but I am enjoying it a lot and don't want to stop it as I am finding it fun

Thanks guys. Maybe I will give it another go soon. The hard part is choosing a team :D
When I first joined here I was told a piece of advice which sticks with me to this day:

"Don't play a save to write a story, the feeling to write a story will come naturally if you enjoy your save."

So, my advice is to not think about writing a story until you find a save you enjoy. I had two successful stories (well, I think they were successful!) which I only started once I got to November of the first season. Needless to say, I played 15+ seasons of one and 10 seasons of the other.

Niko, your stories weren't a success, they were possibly the best the site has seen
I've been here a year and this thread has taught me :P

I always say save before story. My best advice would be to play a little ahead, maybe two months, then pre write some updates. This is great because there's going to be days where you really can't be bothered writing an update, so you can just copy and paste a ready made one.

And also, don't feel pressured into writing a story on every save you do. That's why I encourage you to play ahead. Good luck!

I also have to say two stories at the same time is not a good idea, as generally the quality of both gets pulled down.
