Nottingham Forest got their season off to a flying start by picking up a 2-1 victory at home to Huddersfeild. This game was
Jim White’s competitive managerial debut and was desperate to get off to a good start. White showed his intent to attack from the beginning by fielding a partnership of new strikers,
Matty Fryatt and Anthony Stokes.
The pair did not disappoint White with
Stokes breaking away in only the second minute of the first half to put Forest into the lead at the City Ground. Forest went on to control the game and were never threatened by Huddersfield.
Fryatt joined in on the action in the 34th minute after great link up player with striker partner
Anthony Stokes, Fryatt calmly passed the ball around the keeper to make it two. Huddersfield did threaten late on as they pulled a goal back, however Forest held on to collect three points on the opening day.
Elsewhere this month, wins against Tranmere and MK Dons saw Forest progress into the third round of the Capital One Cup where they will meet Wigan at the City Ground. There was also two wins, a draw and a defeat to promotion chasing Reading. Forest have threatened infront of goal all come and been very clinical, scoring a total of
11 goals. Heres what Jim White had to say and his verdict on his player of the month:
" Well what a start we made, I was very pleased with our work this month. The defeat to Reading was hard to take, but they have a lot of quality within their squad. It only spurred the boys and we hit the ground running, I'm going to award the player of the month to Chris Cohen.
Chris has chipped in with two goals this month but as been instrument in midfield, creating chance after chance for our strikers.
