Nottingham Forest have comfirmed the departure of manager Stuart Pearce. Pearce had not long returned to the club but was approached by the FA to return national team management with England Under 21's. Nottingham Forest released this short statement, 'We can confirm manager Stuart Pearce has left the club to return to England's National team at Under 21 level' . Early reports around town state that he left the club on good terms and Forest wish him well for the future.

The man to take over from Pearce is expected to be announced shortly. Early odds indicate that former Celtic manager Neil Lennon and Tim Sherwood are the prime candidates.

Shock appointment for forest

Nottingham Forest have confirmed the appointment of Sky Sports News presenter Jim White. This is some what of a shock for most football fans and Forest fans in general, It is thought that Jim wanted a career change and fancied his chances at management. It is rumoured that Forest were very big fans of his knowledge of sport and his desire to do well at everything he does.

Fellow Scot Neil Lennon was the early front runner however he publicly dismissed his interest, as this happened Forest wasted no time in announcing Jim White. Jim White has been working as a presenter for Sky Sports News, most famously for Transfer deadline day.

It is thought that White was not happy with the wholesale changes at Sky who had recently made big changes to the studio and changed to Sky Sports HQ. He'll take over with immediate effect and will be hoping for a successful season ahead.
About this story

Why Forest?

Forest have made a good start in the real championship season and I pondered the idea of what I could do, with my previous story not evolving the way I had wished.

How I'm Writing?

This story will include a mix of articles, first person text and three week updates. I will be writing as if I am Jim White, reviewing the month. Any transfers, new deals and any other relevant updates will be article form.

This is only my second story so any advice is greatly appreciated.

New Nottingham Forest manager Jim White has wasted no time in dropping into the transfer market to put his own stamp on his squad. New signings come in the shape of Spanish centre back Nacho, coming in from Champions Leagues winners Real Madrid. The 24 year old joins Forest for a fee of £1.500,000. Secondly, reinforcements upfront come in the shape of Celtic's Athony Stokes, a proven goal scorer in Jim Whites eyes. Stokes joins for a fee of £500,000 and brings a vast amount of experience with him.
When BBC Sport had the chance to speak to Jim White, he dropped this hint: Expect more, we have agreed one fee, and close to sealing another. That's all I can say at this stage".

Forest add two additions as White starts to make his mark

Nottingham Forest have confirmed the signings of two more wide players, the first singing is Scotland's Ross Wallance. Wallace who can play anywhere across the left hand side of the pitch joins from Burnley for a fee of £1,100,000. Wallace has vast experience at Championship level.
Jim White's Forest also confirmed they have agreed a deal to sign Russian winger Denis Cheryshev from Real Madrid for a fee of £1,500,000, the Russian winger is currently on loan at Villarreal, who'll join Forest on the 1st July 2014.

This is what Jim White makes of his new signing's: I think as a club we have done very well, we acted quickly in the market, got some key targets and some really bargains for the quality we have brought in. When asked about anymore possible signings, Jim had this to say, If the right target comes up we will see, until then I don't think there'll be much more action here.

PRE-SEASON UPDATE

http://i58.tinypic.com/2vxf1mv.gif

Three wins out of five for us in our pre season. A good start for us, along side a draw and a unlucky defeat if what was a tough game away to Lierse. The boys have worked hard throughout pre - season. For me, the player of Pre season was a tough one to pick. It was great to see Anthony Stokes get on the score sheet, also good to see Andy Ried getting his head down and delivering for the club, as he is a player that has been attracting some interest from clubs from the higher division. However I'm going to award the player of pre season to Matty Fryatt, who bagged two goals and put a big shift in for the team.

With all the preparation done, all the signings, hard work is done. We start with an away game to Huddersfield to get our season underway.

Jim White has made a final addition to the squad

With the first month of the new Championship season approaching new Forest manager Jim White has added a final addition to his squad in the form of left back,Ciro Capuano. The experianced Italian will provide cover at the left back position. He joins from Catania on a free after the Italian club transfer listed him without demanding a fee for the player. Manager White also fine tuned his squad as a number of players departed. White was thought
to be happy with the squad after bringing in three new faces, with the fourth to follownext season.

The club unforetunately were in a position were they had to sell a few players, in order to one fine tune the squad that was already big. Secondly to obey the Fiancial
fair play regulations that have been put into place. Dexter Blackstock left the club to join League One promotion hopefuls Peterborugh.

Defensive midfeilder Moussa also left the club, for a fee of around £750,000 to head back to his Native France after Jim White deemed him surplus to requirements.

FOREST HIT THE GROUND RUNNING

Fryatt joined in the summer after his release from Hull City

Nottingham Forest got their season off to a flying start by picking up a 2-1 victory at home to Huddersfeild. This game was Jim White’s competitive managerial debut and was desperate to get off to a good start. White showed his intent to attack from the beginning by fielding a partnership of new strikers, Matty Fryatt and Anthony Stokes.
The pair did not disappoint White with Stokes breaking away in only the second minute of the first half to put Forest into the lead at the City Ground. Forest went on to control the game and were never threatened by Huddersfield.
Fryatt joined in on the action in the 34th minute after great link up player with striker partner Anthony Stokes, Fryatt calmly passed the ball around the keeper to make it two. Huddersfield did threaten late on as they pulled a goal back, however Forest held on to collect three points on the opening day.

Elsewhere this month, wins against Tranmere and MK Dons saw Forest progress into the third round of the Capital One Cup where they will meet Wigan at the City Ground. There was also two wins, a draw and a defeat to promotion chasing Reading. Forest have threatened infront of goal all come and been very clinical, scoring a total of 11 goals. Heres what Jim White had to say and his verdict on his player of the month:

" Well what a start we made, I was very pleased with our work this month. The defeat to Reading was hard to take, but they have a lot of quality within their squad. It only spurred the boys and we hit the ground running, I'm going to award the player of the month to Chris Cohen. Chris has chipped in with two goals this month but as been instrument in midfield, creating chance after chance for our strikers.
