Leeds United confirm new manager

Shortly after the sacking coach Dave Hockaday, controversial Leeds United owner Massimo Cellino has appointed his new manager. Shocking the Championship and the football world with the appointment of former Match of The Day pundit, Alan Hansen.
Hansen (Aged 59) has no managerial experience, since retiring from the beautiful game himself Hansen has spent most of time working within the media side of sport. Most famously when he made the comment that still gets said to this day ‘You can’t win anything with kids’, whilst reviewing a Manchester United squad which turned out to be the Class of 92. The Scot had playing spells at Patrick Thistle and Liverpool.

Cellino has thought to have held talks with Hansen for a period of months now. It is believed that he has set the job up for him as challenge, ‘to win something with kids’. When we spoke to Cellino earlier he had this to say.
” I have appointed Alan to take care of the future of this historic club. Not to manage for one or two seasons, but to take care of for the next five, maybe ten years. Due to his famous comment, I challenged him to try and win something with kids. Bring in players that can be at the club for years to come and develop into great players.

Hansen takes charge of the club with immediate effect and will be at the training ground as of tomorrow morning to meet the team. It is though potential transfers will be discussed with Hansen keen to dip into the market.
Hansen made over 500 senior appearances in his club career and was well known for his solid performances in the heart of defence. He will be hoping for similar success as he sets his sights on management .
Leeds are a good team to be. With a few additions there is a good squad there to push on for Play offs. Good luck!
An interesting choice of manager (nice link with the title!). Good luck for the coming season.

LEEDS RAID SPANISH GIANTS

We have some massive transfer news to bring to you, Alan Hansen has started life as Leeds United manager with a bang, the former Scottish international has wasted no time in chopping and changing his squad for the upcoming season. In the space of three days Hansen has brought in seven new faces, all of them coming from either Barcelona or Real Madrid. Hansen was challenged by owner Massimo Cellino to bring in young talent, it looks like he has achieved that already. We’ll show you how as we look at each of the new signings.

First signing for Leeds United is an exciting Right midfielder, by the name of Kiko Femenia, Kiko is quick on the ball an shows great control when he has the ball at his feet. Kiko is the first of many to join from the Famous Castilla side, coming through the Academy at Madrid this could be his chance to break onto the English scene. He joins for a fee of £1,500,000.
Jorge Casado is another young player, Casado applies his trade in the left back position. An all-around solid player that loves to utilise his fitness when attacking. Casado should fit right into the English game with his attacking style. Casado joins for a fee of £575,000.
Rodri, another Spanish player. However this time joins from FC Barcelona. He has never managed to break through to the first team in Spain and has been forced out on several loans. Still young, but slightly more experienced compared to the new signings. Rodri will add great energy to the time, he also has a eye for goal. He joins from Barcelona for a fee of £825,000.
Hansen then returned to raid the Castilla side who he has done plenty of research on. He picked out Burgui who can play as a number ten or on the right wing. The Nineteen year old is very creative on the ball and looks like he has the potential to be a great player. He joins for a small fee of £250,000. Leeds have also recently brought in Brazilian youngster Adryan, with him and Burgui to choose from, Hansen will have quite the attacking midfielder with all of these to choose from.
In Diego Llorente, Hansen has snapped up a strong centre back. Diego is brave in the heart of defence and knows his way into a tackle. Llorente was captain of the Castilla side so will have no problem leading a Leeds United side out.

Derik has been attracting interest from various clubs all across Europe over the summer. An exciting prospect and is tipped as one to grow. A real physical force, another signing that should have no problem fitting into the English game. Who could be playing with defence partner Llorente in a different famous white shirt this season.

The seventh and final signing comes in the shape of Lucas, known for his tricks and flicks. The wide midfielder will be once again battling out for a starting position with Kiko Femania who he has followed to Leeds United.

When we spoke to new boss Alan Hansen earlier, this is what he said
: I’m delighted with the lads we have brought in. Whilst they were playing at Castilla they didn’t get the chance to show case their ability. That’s no disrespect to Castilla, but we all know the spending money Madrid have and it’s going to be a tough ask for young lads to break through to that first team these days. They have a chance to grow here, become true greats like some of them have the potential to be. The lads should settle in fine, they all know each other and the remaining part of the squad is very excited to work with them.
LEEDS LEEDS LEEDS!
I love seeing stories with my team in there... they are invariably more successful than real life in recent years anyway :)

Best of luck, i'll be following this one closely... and getting to work on your banner asap too!
Thanks, much appreciated!

PRE-SEASON REVIEW

Leeds vs Ajax
2-4

A disappointing a result, however it was always going to be a tough ask. A very strong side and a good test for our boys. We will look to kick on from this.

Glentoran vs Leeds
2-0

A result more like the ones we were expecting. The opposition obviously wasn’t as tough. However the performance was a confident one from the boys against a team that never really threatened.

Coleraine vs Leeds
3-0

Another solid performance from the boys. Great to see new signing Rodri get in on the action. Two wins from three leaves us in good shape as we head into our final game of pre season.

Preston vs Leeds United
1-1

I would have preferred to finish off pre-season with a better result so the boys go into the campaign confident. However Preston provided us with a tough test. Overall we did okay, we scored goals and the new signings settled in well, they showed signs of the quality that they were brought in to bring to the team. Let’s hope we are ready for the new season.

A shame about the Ajax result but still positive getting two goals against tough opposition.
They are some interesting signings hope they work out for you
Good story so far! I know Leeds also play in white, but to raid Real of all the starlets that is quite a move, should rename it to Real Leeds! Is there any specific goals/targets for this game? Keep it up!
Ziechael - it was a tough game so we can take the positives!

Cappy - thanks man! Im excited about them.

Terminal - haha thats an idea;) I would like to be aiming for the plays off. However just giving these youngsters time to develop is something that excites me. Initially I didnt plan on buying seven! But for the price and quality, they just kept coming.

Final In’s & Out’s at Elland Road

Leeds Untied manager Alan Hansen has made two more additions to his squad. Leeds were short of cover on the left hand side of midfielder and they have announced today the signing of Leyton Orient winger Dean Cox on a season long loan with a view to a permanent deal. This is what Hansen had to say about the deal. Dean is a great talent, a championship player playing in a lower league let’s be honest. He has great attributes he can bring to team, he’s excited to get going.

Only hours after we brought you news on one loan signing for Leeds, they announced one more signing. They brought in a goal keeper that goes by the name of Antonio Rosati, the 30 Year old joins on a season long loan from Italian side Napoli. The deal includes a view to a permanent deal as well. The 30 year old was very much out of favour in Italy and felt it was time for a new challenge. This is what Hansen had to say about the deal to bring the Italian to England. He is a great addition to the team that can add quality and experience. He will help the young lads immensely.

Alongside all of the incoming’s that have been happening throughout the summer at Elland Road, there have been some departures. The biggest fee received came when Scottish champions Celtic came in for 19 year old Charlie Dawson. Dawson hasn’t made a senior appearance for club or country yet however Celtic were keen to secure his signature and he joins for a fee of £2,500,000.
Out of favour striker Steve Morrison left the club to join Bournemouth in the search of regular first team football. Morrison joins Bournemouth after just one season at Leeds. Due to the recent signing of Spanish striker Rodri he has become further down the pecking order at Leeds.

Another play who leaves the club after just a single year at the club is midfielder David Norris. Norris again is out of favour at Leeds and moves to Norwich. Where he will be joined by former Leeds team mate Michael Tonge who has joined Norwich on a season long loan.

August

Fulham vs Leeds United

1-0
A great way to kick off the season. Fulham were highly tipped to win the Championship this season. With the very strong squad they have it was always going to be a tough game. We played excellently and defended strongly. In the end we edged and came out with the three points.

Preston vs Leeds United (Captial One Cup)
2-0
I was very disappointed to go out of the Capital One Cup so early, a cup run could have been great for us. Unfortunately the players just did not turn up today, they were not good enough and Preston very much deserved their win.

Leeds United vs Nottingham Forrest
5-2
A great result to pick the boys confidence up again. Even though we went 1-0 down to an early goal, the boys played their game and by half time we were 4-1 up. Forrest really couldn’t handle Lucas on the right hand side. His final ball today was top draw and it showed in a man of the match performance.

Reading vs Leeds United
2-0
Reading are a team that will always provide you with a tough game. Not the easiest of places to go and they showed their talents. The game was a close one until the 60th minute went Reading went infront through a strong header from Welshman Hal Robson- Kanu. From then on in it was all Reading.

Brighton vs Leeds
2-0
A solid performance from the boys. They played very well from the first to last minute and Brighton never really threatened. Two quick goals from the new signings killed the game nice and early, Rodri scoring the second with a beautiful taken volley from inside the penalty area.

Leeds vs Derby
2-1
Derby came to town for the last game of the month. Derby started strongly and goals from Jamie Ward were enough for the Rams. Despite a late comeback Derby came through as victors in a game we were defiantly unfortunate to not come out with a point. This month defiantly showed how much of a turbulent league this can be. We are going to have to remain focused and confident for the rest of this long season ahead.

Player of the Month

Personally for me this has to go to Lucas, the new winger has shown signs of some serious quality in his first month here. Scoring five goals in six games is an outstanding record for anyone. For a winger to achieve such a thing is magnificent. He has posed a really threat with his crossing and can turn provide for many of our goals aswell.
A pretty good month all round, some disappointing losses but some great wins too... especially for a team only just starting to gel together.

I wouldn't worry too much about the cup, while a run is always nice it can really take key players away from your league campaign... which as a Leeds fan is always my priority for the club, we NEED to get back in the premiership :(
A decent start. Lucas has got off to a flier. Defensively things will get better once the team gels.

Dean Cox is an interesting signing as he's always had good stats for high-end Championship on FM but he doesn't really deliver when I've used him or seen him at that stage.
