Pilgrims Boss Resigns

Shock news for Plymouth Argyle fans as today as John Shreidan-manager for just 1 season has resigned. The 49 year old who picked up 34 caps for Ireland has decided to terminate his contract to recent poor health. Since becoming manager in 2013 John lifted Plymouth to 10th in the League 2 table, something he did with the help of chairman James Brent and assistant Thomas Pascoe.

Following the news Plymouth Argyle released this statement on the club's official website: "It's with extreme sadness that today John Sheridan parted company with Plymouth Argyle. Over his 1 year at the club he revived the club and helped us climb back up the footballing table. He (Sheridan) was an enthusiastic character at the club, much loved by players, staff and fans alike. We wish you well with your future and health John". Since the announcement of this statement there has been news of activity at Home Park with reported sightings of former Argyle Goalkeeper and current assistant manager Thomas Pascoe being spotted.

Plymouth Argyle have had a tough couple of years in the Football leagues being relegated from the Championship to League 2. Fans recently said they believed that Sheridan was the man to take Argyle back to the second tiers however confidence is probably low since the news was released earlier.

More to follow.

Golden Age for Plymouth?

In the last hour Thomas Pascoe has been named as manager of Plymouth Argyle manager. The 34 year old former Argyle Goalkeeper and assistant manager has signed a 1 year contract securing his signature till the end of the season. Pascoe who played over 250 games in his career at Argyle released this statement on the clubs website:

"Today marks a day not just in my career but the history of Plymouth Argyle. The last few seasons have been great for Argyle, Sheridan took control of the ship and started setting us back on course. With his departure taking the reigns at this club was something I couldn't turn down. It's with great pleasure I announce myself as the new Manager of this club. We're in this together".

With the season almost upon us the inexperienced Pascoe needs to show a level head and perform in front of a vocal Home Park following. The fans here will be closely watching his every move. Whatever happens Pascoe will need to prove that although young he is professional enough to guide Plymouth back to the Championship.

With Pascoe only being named as manager in the last few hours he has already spoken about his current plans for the club. Reports inside Home Park quote Pascoe as discussing his early transfer targets. One player who looks to be on Pascoe's radar is 22 year old Argentine Federico Freire. The current free agent is unknown in the footballing world. Having only 12 appearances to his name this is a player who would need to make a name for himself if he moved to Home Park.
Solid start
