This Is Our Year

After the success of last season Manuel Pellegrini has said that the best is yet to come from his squad. Last year saw Pellegrini lift the Capital One Cup and the Premier Leagye title in his first season in English football. However, the City manager has told the clubs official website that it was only the beginning of the City domination of English football.

Despite the confidence of Pellegrini, it is Mourinho's Chelsea who are favourites to lift the title after the acquisitions of Diego Costa and Cesc Fabregas, while City have signed Fernando and Mangala. This season will be a hugely important season for Manchester City after Pellegrini's claim that they will dominate football in the counrty for years to come. Will City retain their crown or will Jose's Chelsea steal the show?

City Arrive In Manchester

Earlier today the official Manchester City plane touched down at Manchester Airport after the club completed its training camp in America. City enjoyed an unbeaten pre-season and enjoyed three victories and a draw. They opened their tour with a 1-0 victory over Bulgarian side Lokomotiv(Plovdiv) and followed this with a 1-1 draw with D.C United. City ended the tour with two convincing wins over FC Dallas and Olympiakos, 5-1 and 4-1 respectively.

City now prepare to face Arsene Wenger's Arsenal side at Wembley in seven days time, in the Community Shield, and Pellegrini has confirmed that City will not be active in the transfer market. "With the financial fair play rules in place we will not be able to fund any deals between now and transfer deadline day unless we sell somebody first" Will the lack of signings prove costly to City as they look to retain the title for the first time.

Pellegrini added various new faces to his backroom staff including Tim Sherwood, Rene Meulensteen and Jay-Jay Okocha. He also appointed a new assistant manager Mauro Tassoti who previously worked at AC Milan. it is clear that the City manager is trying to build a strong backbone for his side as he looks to dominateEnglish and European football over the next five years.
Good luck!

City Victorious at Wembley

In a thoroughly entertaining community shield Manchester City overcame Arsenal on penalties to be crowned champions. In this traditional curtain raiser for the premier league season both sides showed their attacking style of football in the 3-3 draw at the national stadium.

It was Arsenal who took the lead early on through German forward Lukas Podolski who placed the ball into the bottom corner of the City net. City captain Vincent Kompany equalised for the champions after his header powered past the Arsenal keeper. Arsenal once again took the lead but it was City full back Clichy who put the ball into his own net.

City came out from halftime on the front foot and put a great deal of pressure on the \gunners defence. They were finally rewarded for their domination when Yaya Toure burst through the defence and slipped it past the keeper. For a third time in the game Arsenal took the lead when midfiel maestro Cazorla curled the ball into the top corner from the edge of the box. This looked to be the winner as City failed to create any clear chances until substitute ad former Gunner Samir Nasri converted a free kick in the dying moments of the game.

After City scored their five penalties French Forward Giroud saw his spot kick saved by Joe Hart which led to joyous celebrations from the City players and fans. City will now prepare for the trip to Loftus Road to face newly promoted QPR.
