With all transfer business over for the Rams, El-Roy Salvo and his team are going to have a very busy season, in no less part to being a part of four different competitions; the EPL, the FA Cup, the Capital One Cup and the Euro League.
Before the season started, much was expected from Markus Henriksen, but with new signings Michael Carrick, promising Bicho and the fiery Josue, the responsibility in the middle of the park is sure to be shared. Aside Carrick and co, Kristoffer Ajer is progressing immensely as a midfielder, and despite the shock in the press, insiders are not surprised the Norwegian youngster is assistant captain officially, despite the burden of captaincy falling on the shoulders of another youngster Keziah Veendorp. However, the likes of Josue and Carrick are reliable candidates for leadership from time to time.

In defence, Veendorp hopes that strong Senegalese Alfred N’Diaye will be reliable. New signings Sonni Nattestad and Martin Olsson will be hoping to contribute their quota in keeping the back tight while loyal and versatile Spanish defender Marcel Correia is expected to contribute in no small way; just as he’s done since Derby battled up from the Championship.
Salvo’s forward line is criticized heavily by the media. Ezequiel Rescaldani and Alfred Finnbogason are the only senior strikers, while promising forward Muhamed Tahiri is the only recognized back-up. Injury-prone Bruno Costa has been relegated to the Reserve side for the time being and fans are hoping the Spanish can successfully put the injuries behind him soon and fulfil his immense potential.

As September starts in hot fashion, surprising superstars are emerging in Derby. Charlie Johnson has found a confidence that is hardly appreciated by opposition teams and the winger is terrorizing teams big and small, scoring and assisting without a care!
The first big blow comes late September though, as talisman Josue is ruled out for 5 weeks in a Capital One Cup 3-2 victory over Reading. New signing Nattestad is already out five months, and fans are beginning to worry.

However, Bicho starts to sparkle, starring in an impressive 1-0 win over Chelsea. He had already made his mark in a shock 3-1 victory over PSG in the Euro League, but with Josue out, Bicho handles the burden of creator just as well.

More niggling injuries are setting in as Jeff Hendrick is ruled out for 3 months as well. Muhamed Tahiri is also ruled out for 4 weeks for strained ankle ligaments. Several more injuries have plagued the Reserve side and the Unde-18 squad and soon, Salvo is seriously considering firing his Head Physio Neil Sullivan and Fitness Coach Damien Roden.

As September ends on a high with a 2-1 victory over Celtic in the Euro League, Salvo has a lot to think of as more concerns are cropping up in the dressing room. Riquelme is asking to go back to South America and he is making a meal out of it in the media.
October is bound to be a stern test.

Thanks a lot... Big signings? I hope more than anything! Though I cross my fingers for good youth recruitment to back, lol! ;)
