Crewe Alexandra Football Club is a professional football club in Crewe, Cheshire, England. Nicknamed The Railwaymen because of the town's links with the rail industry, they play at Gresty Road and are currently in Football League One, the third tier of the English football league system.

The club was formed in 1877 and named after Princess Alexandra. They were founding members of the Football League Second Division in 1892, but only lasted four years in the League. Since re-entering the competition in 1921, they have mostly remained in the lower divisions. Crewe's only major honour is the Football League Trophy which they won in 2013. They have also won several minor trophies, including the Cheshire Premier Cup and the Cheshire Senior Cup.

In recent decades, the club has been associated with manager Dario Gradi whose 24-year tenure between 1983 and 2007 made him the longest-serving manager in English football; he had a further two-year spell in the role from 2009 to 2011. Gradi is known for focusing on youth development and promoting attractive, technical football. Notable players brought through the Crewe youth system include former internationals Rob Jones, Neil Lennon, Danny Murphy, Seth Johnson and Dean Ashton. Other notable players to have made their name at Crewe in that time include Geoff Thomas, David Platt and Robbie Savage.

Tipped for relegation my aims are to beat the drop, bring through young talent and go as far as i can with this team
Nice title, good luck and welcome to FMScout! :)

Preseason Round Up & Transfers

Outside of a thumping from Blackburn it's been a reasonable preseason at gresty road, the squad & new addditions are all itching to prove the bookies wrong

Outs

Marcus Haber - high wages & low ability, had to go

Thierry Audel - low wages & even lower ability, Bon Voyage Thierry

Ins

Loans - Liam Kelly,Diego Suarez,Tylas Browning,Andreas Pereira & RLC all promising youths who can pitch in our fight to stay up

Emile Heskey - Lord Heskey,he may be old & slow but a great Target Man he is

The Current Squad

Due to injuries to senior players & some youth players that are good but more than likely wont get playing time for the month i've shaved the squad down to those likely to play, competition for places & injuries will see players in the U21's get berths to the main squad

August Recap coming soon
Icarus Thanks man :)
Could Heskey be the one to fire you to glory? I doubt it but it is a nice thought! Good luck for the upcoming season.

August Recap

The pundits had a tough start for the railwaymen & boy were they right!. With only two wins in 7 games it's been a rocky start, already out of the capital one cup courtesy of a shane long hattrick and wallowing in 19th domestically.

On the other side of the table Newly Promoted Fleetwood Town has found a new home

CREWE POTM

The only spark that seems to galvanise the team is Andreas, the United loanee with an avg of 7.37 & a MOTM award in 3 games(2 of which were wins) has wrestled the starting #10 role from Liam Kelly who shares gametime in the rotation. Barring injury or a dip in form Kelly might have to get used to the bench for a while.

LATE ARRIVAL

Sean kavanagh joins on loan from fulham, the Left Back position 'left' much to be desired in the opening month
Hopefully you can be true to Crewe and bring through some of their youngsters!! like this story and will be following !! :)

September Recap

Great start to the month but it ended on a sour note, two thumpings out of the blue, hopefully we turn it around before too long

Sitting in 16th we are safe from the perils of the drop for the time being

Crewe POTM

Everton Loanee Tyias Browning has been ever-present for the railwaymen and took the monthly honour with solid performances apart from the two horror games against the dons & colchester
lross Thats the plan, outside of loans & the marquee signing here & there i hope to mainly bring up players through the academy :)
I don't understand everything (I'm french) but I'm sure that's a great challenge ! Good luck :)

October Recap

The pundits cant get enough! we've been casted as relegation stragglers & we've looked the part, no wins this month, GUTTED!

Hovering over the relegation zone, we need to improve, January a couple months away so perhaps some reinforcements are in order

Crewe POTM

None!...well if any it'd probably be Liam Kelly who has had 2 great games in the rotation

sorry all but i think i'm pulling this story, another challenge has caught my eye & i feel i could go a lot farther with it in the longterm
