Already the first Final of the Season!

Belgium Supercup final. Anderlecht - Sporting Lokeren. The Season finally gets underway and the Fans want to start with a Trophy and the team, of course, wanna win too!
Anderlecht could make it 3 Supercup wins in a row, if we can bring the trophy home today.

It was an intense match and it was a close one. We had many chances, but the goalkeeper was in superb form and saved almost everything what we brought to his goal. It was a performance of the highest standarts.
It was a set piece, which brought us in front. In the 43th minute Youri Tielemans, the 17 year old talent, scored with a free kick from around 22m.
What a way to end the first half!

The second half started in the same way. In the 54th minute it was the other central midfielder Dennis Praet, to score and double the lead, after he finished a superb team move.
Lokeren brought one back in the 64th minute and attacked until the last second, but they wheren't possible to score the draw!

Anderlecht therefore won the Supercup and celebrated for the third time in a row.

Jupiler League round up

Some more signings

Due to serious injury problems, we where forced to make some moves in the transfer market!
We brought two more players into the squad.
First there was Dedryck Boyata, a young belgium central defender.

The other was loanee Oscar Hiljemark. A young swedish central midfielder, who is under contract at PSV Eindhoven.
He was brought in, after Dennis Praet sufferd a injury which will sideline him for at least a month and Youri Tielemans, who will be sidelined, for a few weeks.

Builduing the lead!

Already 10 games are played and I'm really happy with the way the team is palying for the fans. Every game is played with a 100% focused at the win and to enjoy the fans.
There is one part of the game, which is not really as good as it should be!
Our strikers are really struggeling to bring the ball in the net!
Suarez (0 goals), Mitrovic (3 goals), Leya Iseka (2 goals). That's not the number of goals, which i wanted our strikers to have, after the first 14 competetiv games (League, Champions League, Supercup and Cup)!

We really need to step up our goalscoring, luckily Silvio Proto is on a long run without conceeding and our defense is really standing strong. Proto now actually 433 minutes unbeaten in all competitions.

Jupiler Pro League round up

For some kind of reason, I was unable to make a screenshot of the league table right now, therefore I'll show you the most important teams and positions.

  1. Anderlecht 26 points
  2. Genk 20
  3. Lokeren 19
  4. Westerlo 15
  5. Gent 15
  6. Brügge 14
  7. Charleroi 14
  8. Waregem 14

Standart Liege is fighting at the relegation zone at the moment as they only have 10 points and are only 3 points before the first relegatino place.

In the Champions League is the first half of the group phase played and our Group is really a close one.
In Group A we're playing against Athletic Bilbao, Olympiakos Piräus and Benfica Lisboa.
Lisboa and Bilbao are the big favourites in the group, but it's not a unmakeable group for us.
After the first 3 games, we are currently on the 4th place, but only 1 point short of Olympiakos in the 2nd and even with Athletic on 3rd place.

Everything is possible, as we are playing in front of our fans 2 more times and we will look to at least gain that 3rd place and qualify for the Europe League!

Surprise visit in my office!

I was siting in my office chair and had done some office work, just the usual stuff, reading trough some scout reports, preparing for the next match and rewatch the last match a few times to optimize our style of football.
I was in middle of a rewatch of the UEFA Champions League match against Benfica (I won't spoil the result here) as someone knocked on the Door.

Who's there?

Coach, can I come in? It's me Youri.

Sure, come in. I wanted to see you as well, as I have some big news for you, but first tell me what's on your mind.

I just talked with my parents and they told me that Jose Mourinho and Jürgen Klopp tried to contact me. They're interested in me and I honestly don't know what I would do, if this interest would be more serious.

First of all Youri, thanks for letting me know that. I'm not surprised that managers of such teams keep an eye on your development. If you keep your feet on the ground, you could be a shining star in the future, but let me give you an advice, my parents gave me, when I was younger.
They told me, that I need to strengthen myself, before I should aim for the stars. It is important to build a good fundation of physical strength and more important mental strength.

It is an adive, which made my career. Otherwise I would've moved earlier in my career into a foreign countey and I'm not sure, if I would've made it then.

Thanks for beeing so honest to me, but you know it's Chelsea and Dortmund. 2 big teams, which are always possible in winning titles on national and international level and their Leagues are proabably 2 of the 3 top leagues in the World.

Of course I know that. Look which players they have in your position. Chelsea have Fabregas and Matic in their starting eleven and Ramires or Mikel on the bench, that are 4 good players and you're good, but they have much more experience on the highest level.
And for Dortmund, they have Sahin, Mkhytarian and Gündogan, who is probably besides Pogba and Thiago the best central midfielder for the future!

Stay here for a few years! You're only 17 now and in 5 years you still have the most of your career in front of you and by then, you could be one of the best players in Europe.

You've got a point there, but can you guarantee that I get such a chance again?

Of course not, but I'm pretty sure. And why would you leave us? You're appreciated here, you have your whole family and friends here. You play with the boys you played with in al of the youth squads. Why would you give up on such a good thing? And you can play Champions League here as well!

I know that and this is a good thing. I feel comfortable here and love the things you just mentioned, but as a professional this is a hugh chance for me. Why where you looking for me, in the first place?

Because of your performances here, Marc Wilmots invited you to the belgium Senior Squad! I wanted to congratulate on that hugh achievement. You could make your first cap in the European qualifying match against Cyprus.

Are you kidding me? You can't be serious!
Whoooohoooo, I can't believe it!

Now think about the things I told you and make yourself a good evening and let everyone know the good news!

Thanks coach, I surely invit my friends and family over to let them know that!

Champions League Live Ticker

Hello and welcome everybody to the final matchday of the Champions League Group phase.
In Group A only Atheletic Bilbao is already qualified for the Knockout rounds and the three other Teams are all in the hunt for the second place or at least the third, which would qualify them for the Europe League Knockout Rounds.

With 7 points in second place there is Benfica with the best chances to qualify for the next round and they only need a draw to secure the second place.
Unfortunatly they need to travel to Bilbao and are outsiders for this clash.
Anderlecht and Olympiakos are heading against each other and both teams have 5 points on their list. The first clash from these two teams won Anderlecht and therefore they're slight favourites.

Now lets move on and see the starting line-ups from the teams.

Anderlecht: Proto - N'Sakala, Boyata, Chancel Mbemba, Colin - Hiljemark - Tielemans, Praet - Kawaya, Conte - Mitrovic

Olympiakos: Roberto - Masuaku, Abidal, Botia, Salino - Maniatis, Kasami - Afellay, Dominguez, Durmaz - Benitez

1 The Fans already are cheering for their team and wait for the Kick-off
1 The Teams are standing on the pitch and the kick-off can only be seconds away
1 The Referees whistle had gone and the game is underway
3 Looks like a bad injury for Alberto Botia, he is lying on the pitch and seems to have hurt his knee
3 Botia already needs to leave the field and he's out. His replacement is Dimitris Siovas
7 Not much is going on right now as both teams are fighting around the middle circle for possesion.
18 First Chance of the game, as Ibrahim Affelay plays a lovely ball to Benitez, but he missed only by inches.
20 Another Chance for Olympiakos. Again Affelay has outdribbled his opponent, but the angle wasn't good and Proto saved the ball
26 This time it is Andy Kawaya, who launches an attack over the left side and has the first shot at target for Anderlecht
33 Vicious tackle from Siovas against Aleksandar Mitrovic, but the refree didn't saw that
35 Eric Abidal with a header after a corner, but his header was inches over the crossbar, Anderlecht were really lucky there
44 Silvio Proto with a really bad goal kick, luckily Dominguez weren't able to seize on this chance
45 The half time whistle had gone and it is a 0:0 here in Piräus.

Half-time The game is really intense, but the big chances hadn't been there for any of the teams. Olympiakos were the marginally better team and with a little bit more luck, they could've led by now.
We now hope that the second half will be an improvement and that we see a couple of goals.

46 No changes at any of the teams, as they are heading to the pitch.
46 Second half kicks off...
46 ...and what a start by Olympiakos! Not even 30 seconds into the match and Dominguet hits the woodwork with a good shoot from approximatly 33 meters.
50 It seems that this shoot awakend Anderlecht and they start to launch a few offensive attacks, but nothing dangerous has happend by now
52 Youri Tielemans played a lovely ball to Mitrovic and the serbian striker is unable to score
60 Roberto with a world-class safe! Again it was Mitrovic who outplayed is defender and he missed the goal only by inches.
67 Olympiakos are really struggeling now. The team looks really tired now.
72 Goal! Goal! Goal! Goal for...
72 ... Anderlecht. Frank Acheampong scored a goal after an amazing team move.
72 Acheampong was only subbed in, 5 minutes earlier and was really keen to show, that his form over the past weeks was poor and he is about to step up his game
77 Anderlecht is now about to defend their lead, this could go wrong!
85 Anderlecht is only defending and Olympiakos seem to be to tired to launch some last attacks, will there be a final offense?
89 It's not looking like it and we should settle for a 0:1 win for Anderlecht. The last question will be, is that enough to qualify for the Knockout rounds in the Champions League or will it only be the Europe League?
90+2 What a tackle! Dedryck Boyata cleared the ball from the line, as Silvio Proto was already beaten by Ibrahim Affelay.
90+3 That was it. Anderlecht beats Olympiakos and will remain in a european competition over the holidays.

Thanks to a 2:2 from Athletic Bilbao against Benfica Lisboa, Anderlecht hadn't qualified for the Champions League Knockout rounds and they move down to the Europe League.

Thanks everyone for joining us tonight and we'll happy to see you once again in the next matches.

Looking unbeatable at the Moment!

After almost 2/3 of the League had been played and we had been on an awesome streak so far with now over 15 games unbeaten in the Jupiler League, but we're far away from the all-time league record of 60 games!
The Streak ended in our 19th League game as we've lost to KV Red-Star Waslaand Beveren!
Really dissapointing, for the fact that Beveren are last in the League and no where near the team in front of them, as they are 6 points short!

Luckily the other teams are struggeling to be consistence in their performances and we are a few points ahead of the hunters.
In the League, we are leading by 8 Points with now 24 games played.
The 3rd Place is so far away, that we only need one more win, to ensure to end the first 30 games in front of them!

Bakkali sign for Anderlecht!

Quit a coup, what we were able to make.
Young belgian talent Zakkaria Bakkali will move on a free transfer to our club, at the end of the Season.
The young winger was unsettled in Eindhoven, as he only played in the under19 or under21 squad!
He will be a hugh star of our team and league and will help us to step up our level of performance in the near future!
