Very nice start! I'm sure you can bring back the 2009-2012 days back to Barcelona, as long as that defence is strengthened a little :P Best of luck :)

Breaking: Gerardo Martino leaves Barcelona

Gerardo Martino leaves Barcelona after just one season following a trophyless campaign. Martino resigned as Barcelona coach after they missed out on the La Liga title in the 1-1 draw against champions Atletico Madrid. Barcelona finished the season trophyless for the first time since the 2007-08 season.

Martino had been expected to leave, win or lose in Saturday evening's clash at the Camp Nou, and Barca confirmed the news as his post-match press conference was beginning.

"In agreement with the club I am no longer the coach," Martino said.
"I deeply regret not having achieved the goals that this club has always been set and achieved."
"These are great players. My greatest gratitude goes to the players. They have made me proud."

Barcelona went into their final match of the season needing a win over Atletico Madrid to win the league title. Barca took the lead through Alexis Sanchez's 34th-minute wonder strike. Bu Atletico equalized by a Diego Godin header early in the second half. Atletico held on and won their first La Liga title since 1996.
very nice start :)
Great start, hope you bring back the Team of the 6 titles! I sure be following your story, as a barcelona lad!

Joan Laporta returns as Barcelona president

The presidential election was hold today, following Josep Maria Bartomeu´s resignation last week. The candidates was (except of Laporta) Agustí Benedito and Joan Gaspart.

The reason to the resignation of Bartomeu seems to be that he lost the confidece of both the players, the fans and the stuff. Bartomeu has declined to comment his resignation.

Joan Laporta was born in Barceloan the 29th of June 1962. This will be his second spell as president of Barcelona. In his first spell (2003-2010) the team won a total of 12 trophies.

Joan was very happy when he met the press for the first time after the win of the election.

I´m very happy and excited to be back. Barcelona is the club of my heart", he said.
"Since I left the club it has been tough times. I want to take the club back to were whe belong."

Laporta was also very critical against the former presidents Sandro Rosell (who resigned following to the problem with the Neymar buisness in January) and Josep Bartomeu.

"They did some very strange things. I don´t think that they did enough to make Pep stay. I respect Victor Valdés alot and you have to ask yourself why they did´nt can convice important players like Victor and Thiago to stay. And the breakup with Eric Abidal was just disrespectful."

When questions about transfers and the new manager came up, Joan could not give clear answers yet.

"I can´t tell you yet. But I know what we want and I´ll try my best to make it."

Pep Guardiola is the new manager of FC Barcelona

Today FC Barcelona announced the appointment of Pep Guardiola as their new manager for the coming season. Guardiola will sign a one-year deal.

Guardiola´s latest charge was at the german club FC Bayern München. He won Bundesliga, German Cup, UEFA Super Cup and Club World Cup. The Bayern chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge said following to the press: "Pep is the best coach in the world. When Joan Laporta won the election in Barcelona, it was clear that he wanted Pep to return and that Pep wanted to return. We didn´t wanted to stop Guardiola from joining Barcelona. We´ve reached a deal with Barcelona that means that Pep is the new manager of FC Barcelona."
"We want to thank Pep for his work here at FC Bayern, and we wish him good luck in the future."

Pep played for Barcelona from 1990 to 2001. He played a total of 263 matches for the club. This will be Guardiola´s second spell as manager at Barcelona. The last one was from 2008 to 2012. He has also managed the B-team from 2007-2008. As manager with Barca he won following trophies: 3 La Liga, 2 Champions League, 2 Spanish Cup, 3 Spanish Supercup, 2 UEFA Super Cup and 2 Club World Cup. That´s 14 trophies in 4 years.

FC Barcelona said following on their official website: "The FC Barcelona board of directors have this evening confirmed Josep Guardiola as the new first-team coach. Josep Guardiola, 43, will sign a one-year deal."

Joan Laporta, the new president of FC Barcelona, said follwing: "We´re really happy that Pep is back. He´s the greatest manager of all time. We´ve reached an agreement with FC Bayern. Both parts are pleased with the deal."

Pep himself, said following on the short press conference that was held: "I´m very happy to be back. This is my home. We have some of the greatest players on earth. I think that we´ll be successful again. I want to play attacking football as always, with much possesion. I´ve already met the players. They are just as motivated as me. We want to bring happiness to the fans again."

Pep will sign his contract tomorrow at the Camp Nou and later there will be a longer press conference.
I said it...The Team of the 6-titles up to come!
TaroMisaki: Yeah, I had two alternatives, except from Pep. Xavi and Puyol. But I still need Xavi in the squad and Puyol will be in the coaching staff. So I chose the biggest legend of them all, Pep! :)

Barcelona legend Eric Abidal retires

The former Monaco, Lille, Lyon, Barcelona and Monaco player has today announced his retirement from football. Eric Abidal, 34 also played 67 apps for the France national team.

Eric Abidal won following trophies during his career: 4 La Ligas, 2 Champions Leagues, 2 Spanish Cups, 3 Spanish Supercups, 2 UEFA Super Cups, 2 Club World Cups and a 2nd place in the 2006 World Cup. He has also beat cancer twice.

All around the football world, many has used the social medias as Facebook and Twitter to pay tribute to Eric. The hashtag #AbiRey is trending at twitter. Rey means king in spanish.

Spanish newspapers AS, Mundo Deportivo and Marca says that Eric will get a coaching role at his former club FC Barcelona. Abidal has a very good relation to the new president Joan Laporta and to the new manager Pep Guardiola. A coaching role would fit him perfectly.
