After 14 years away from the club, former Striker Klaus Fischer has returned to Schalke as manager, after Jens Keller left the club, citing personal reasons for his departure.
The 64-year old German has always been a fan favourite at Schalke, and with a wealth of coaching experience behind him, and experience in running his own football School, will be looking to develop the young talent at the club.
"I am delighted to be back at the club, especially with the young talent which is coming through at this moment in time. Players like Max [Meyer] and Donis [Avdijaj] are massive talents, and i'll be looking to develop that talent as quickly and effectively as possible, while driving the players forward, and returning this club to it's previous glory.
This club is massive, and to return to winning trophies is exactly what the players and fans need and want. The league, of course, is a priority, but it is important to recognise that breaking Bayern's hold on that trophy is not going to be easy, but with the correct attitude, and enough time, we can improve to the required extent."
But with a small transfer budget, and a small squad, how exactly will Fischer bring about that improvement?
