The Classen Chronicles

The Manager

For this save I made a fictional manager, 37 year old Dutch/Belgian manager Rami Classen. He aspires to one day manage a big European club and to play passing football whilst doing so. He prefers formations with wingers and a single striker, typically variants of 4-2-3-1. He previously played football but never made it to the International level. His standout abilities are his man management skills and his ability to work with young players.

Good luck Toon, should be interesting to see how this develops!

Thank you, hoping to have some advanced graphics on here later. Thought the simple & neat approach was best for the first post though.

Lokeren Appoint Classen

This morning the new manager of Belgian Pro League club, Sporting Lokeren, was announced - first time manager Rami Classen taking the helm of the club. Classen has previous experience as a coach in Belgium, but at 37 years old, he is set to make his managerial debut with Lokeren, a club that will be competing in the Europa League this season following a successful Belgian Cup campaign last season.

Fans have expressed their reservations against the appointment, mainly due to the fact that Classen has taken the role over from recently resigned Peter Maes, a man who took Lokeren to their highest position in 10 years in the Belgian Pro League, 5th, and won the Belgian Cup, becoming a fan favourite during this time. Most fans have noted that they are open to giving Classen a chance but would have preferred a manager with more credentials.

Classen took a quick moment to speak with press on the Lokeren training ground.

"I'm looking forward to managing a club that I really believe can achieve big things over the next few years. I realise I'm taking over the role from someone who is rated very highly but I know I have the ability to take the squad that he built and achieve even more with them.

"All I need is for fans to stand by both me and the team. I know I'm considered unproven, but I know I have what it takes, and clearly the board do too, or else I wouldn't have had a chance at this job."

BARRY COPA TIME!!!

Lokeren In Dominant Pre-Season

Newly appointed manager of Sporting Lokeren, Rami Classen, will have given his critics something to think about over the last few weeks after pre-season that saw his team win every single game. Many have praised the dominance that the team have shown in these games, retaining the majority of the possession in most of the games and attacking with the ball well whilst remaining solid in defence.

As the pre-season comes to an end, the team look raring to go, their first game of the season against Anderlecht in the Super Cup, a game which Classen has announced he is eager to win.

"We had some positive friendlies and the squad seems up for it. I'd like to win the Super Cup and get a trophy to my name early on and show that I really am the right person for the job."

"I know some people don't think it's very important in terms of silverware, but I would take it as a big positive, because not only would we be taking home a trophy, but we would be defeating the league champions, and that's not something that is easy to accomplish."

The friendly results are as follows:

Lokeren 9 - 0 Lokeren U21s
Lokeren 1 - 0 Tigres
Lommel United 1-3 Lokeren
OHL 1-2 Lokeren
Lubeck 1-2 Lockeren

Bookies have made Anderlecht the clear favourites for this game, having won the last two Supercups and also expected to finish at least second in this season's Belgium Pro League. Lokeren, on the other hand, are predicted a respectable 5th place finish but many pundits and fans alike have acknowledged that they could end up anywhere at the end of the season due to their new inexperienced manager who could prove a wild card, or perhaps a failure.

Both managers have noted that the Supercup is not too important in the big scheme of things, downplaying it's reputation as a trophy, but both have stated they have intentions to win it and will be playing a full-strength team to attempt to get a win in their first game of the season.

This game will be Rami Classen's managerial debut, and there is little in the way of pressure on him to win this game. He has admitted his excitement for the game in a recent interview and has encouraged fans to get behind the team.

"I'm looking forward to [the game]. This is the sort of game where we can really assert ourselves as a big, ambitious team in this league," Classen told an interviewer. "If we can win this, or at the least put in a good performance, we can show we are not pushovers. I know my team will play well because they are all in a very good mindset, I think all we need now is that extra push so I ask that the fans come in strength to Anderlecht and help give our team an edge."

Besnik Hasi, manager of Anderlecht, has downplayed Lokeren's chances and predicted a win for his own team, though he admits that it will be a challenge.

"We should win this game, and I think we will, but that is no insult to Lokeren. They are a good team. We'll have to work hard but I'd like to hit the ground running in our campaign and winning this game is the way to do it, so I think the team will come away with the trophy."
Great update. I think Anderlecht might be too good. 3-1 to Anderlecht :D
Hopefully you can cause an upset though I am predicting Anderlecht to be a bit to strong

My prediction: RSC ANDERLECHT 3-2 SPORT. LOKEREN
An unexpected choice of club, but a very good one! Your pre-season was impressive but the game against Anderlecht will be very tough. I'll give my prediction and say 3-1 to Anderlecht, but good luck regardless!
Very nice start mate!
