Phoenix Appoint Caville
Today see's Aldershot Town appoint new boss Keiran Caville at The Recreation Ground. The news was broke to fans and media this morning, Tuesday,8th July, 2014 at 9:00am UK time. After recent manager Andy Scott resigned from the club after 500 days in charge of the club. The Phoenix Board released a statement shortly after the resignation saying "Andy left on his own terms and we wish him all the best wherever his career takes him". 1 day after the resignation its thought that Caville was in talks with the Aldershot board and a deal was agreed to hire him as the new manager of Aldershot Town Football Club. 2 hours after the appointment was confirmed a press conference was called at The Recreation Ground to let the media have at Caville. A total of 6 questions were asked to Caville which are all shown below.
Aaron Hunter (BBC Surrey): Do you feel your ambitions are matched by the chairman?
Keiran Caville: Aldershot is an ambitious club and they certainly match my ambitions, I'm glad to have been given the chance to manage at such a great club.
Ryan Crowe (TNLP): Do you feel the expectations asked of you this season have been fair and realistic?
Keiran Caville: Yes, I have been given a target and at the end of the day I'm expected adhere to these expectations and I wouldn't of been hired if they didn't believe I could do it.
Ryan Crowe (TNLP): Many people are wondering what a manager like you is doing at a club like Aldershot. Are you selling yourself short or do you not have any ambition?
Keiran Caville: Lets start with this no manager should get to start at the very top regardless of how well there playing career went. And questioning my ambition by being at a small club is wrong of you, I believe you couldn't be anymore ambitious by starting from the lower leagues, it shows your willing to fight to earn your place in the football league and that your committed.
Ryan Crowe (TNLP): Okay your right, but on another note some managers are famous for the hands on approach and others maintain a more reserved manner with there players. How do you see your management style?
Keiran Caville: I like to be involved as much as I can, without this approach players can't make a connection with there manager. I prefer to talk to my players as much as possible so I can find out what they want and keep them happy maintaining a great player-manager relationship.
Aaron Hunter (BBC Surrey): Its often said managers favour different competitions. Will you be concentrating primarily on getting good results in the league?
Keiran Caville: The league is my main priority but that's not too say that I don't favour a bit of cup competition. In these leagues the focus is definitely the league but when we hit the Football League we will competing for all trophies.
Dale Field (gethampshire.co.uk): On the off chance that any agents read your comments, is there a certain area your looking to strengthen?
Keiran Caville: Well I cant comment on that much as I haven't met the players yet and had chance to asses the squad. but you can look to see us dip into the transfer market.
So with Caville hinting that there could be transfer activity coming Aldershot's way surely the fans will be exited. In more Aldershot news the board released a statement saying "We are delighted to have someone like Keiran manager our club and we are expecting big things" could this be Aldershot's big break having someone like Caville manage there team, its certainly going to be a rollercoaster season that's for sure.
