In an announcement that shocked almost everybody in the world of football as USA has fired Jurgen Klinsmann as their head coach effective immediately. Klinsmann just got back from the World Cup in Brazil where they got out of the group of death which included his native country Germany, Portugal and Ghana, they were bounced from the tournament after a 2-1 extra loss to strong Belgium team, a game in which the USA battled towards the very end. Klinsmann was in charge of the US National Team for three years after he was hired in July of 2011 which made him the 35th coach of the USMNT. During his time as manager he had a record of 32 wins, 9 draws and 13 loses in his 54 games in charge of the US National Team. Klinsmann won the CONCACAF Gold Cup in 2013 which will be his only trophy in his tenure with the USA.
The US Soccer Federation made the official announcement this morning with the press conference coming up today at 12 o'clock EST on ESPN 3. Some rumors have been swirling why they would fire such a widely popular head coach like Jurgen Klinsmann. People inside the US Soccer Federation have made claims of how they were unhappy with the handling of USA legend Landon Donovan and why he didn't make it onto the team for the World Cup which proved to be a fatal mistake. After first choice striker Jozy Altidore went within 10 minutes of the tournament starting and against Belguim it hurt as they really had no encouraging attacking play moving forward until the late stages of that game which saw them eliminated from the tournament. On top of that people inside the Federation were upset about how many Germans we has been importing to the team including Julian Green, Jermaine Jones and John Brook who all scored in the World Cup for USA, they weren't the only German born players in the USNMT at this World Cup.
Jurgen Klinsmann was at a loss for words as he declined to comment on what happened today. We don't know if he will be open to coaching another team so early even though rumours have been swirling about him joining 2nd Bundesliga club RB Leipzig, as well as a potential replacement for Jurgen Klopp if he decides to leave Dortmund.
