Klinsmann Wastes No Time Bringing In Reinforcements

Jurgen Klinsmann has wasted no time bringing in players to bolster his squad for the upcoming season. Even though RB Leipzig have spent huge for a 2nd Bundesliga team already this transfer window, Klinsmann still felt that need to bring in more players to really make a push at the 2nd Bundesliga title or at least a promotion spot into the Bundesliga and all of the fame and riches that come along with it. The first of the signings is goalkeeper Phillip Tschauner, the 28 year old German shot stopped was previously at St. Pauli, it took $625k to lure him away from the club he had over 100 appearances for over three seasons he was with St. Pauli. The second of their signings is Norwegian right winger, 22 year old Yann-Erik de Lanlay from Norway Premier league outfit Viking. He made 125 senior appearances for Viking over the five seasons playing for them, making his debut at 17 years old, RB Leipzig had to pay 115k for his presence. The last of their signings is German central midfielder, 32 year old Christian Tiffert on a free transfer. He was with Bochum last year and made 24 appearances for the 2nd Bundesliga side.

Phillip Tschauner

Phillip Tschauner has been transferred from St. Pauli for a fee of 675k. He signed a two year deal with the club. After over 100 impressive appearances for St. Pauli, Leipzig decided to pull triggers and bring in the German keeper who has plenty of experience to take on the starting goalkeeper role on the team. Tschauner showed great potential in his youth when he made a Bundesliga appearance with Nurnburg back in 2006 when he was 20 years of age, he also played a game for the German Under 21 squad but unfortunately something didn’t click for the young German keeper then he was transferred to 1860 Munchen in 2006 where he made 54 appearances with 14 clean sheets. In 2011 he transferred to St. Pauli for free, he went on to make 109 appearances for St. Pauli getting 27 clean sheets along the way. The highlight of his career so far is back in 2013, his team was down 2-1 to Paderborn in the 90th minute when he ran up for the corner kick which he ended up scoring the game tying goal for St. Pauli to get them the point. Tschauner is expected to be the starting goalkeeper at Leipzig for the upcoming season but who knows what the future will hold for Tschauner.

Yann-Erik de Lanlay

RasenBallsport Leipzig have secured the signature of Norwegian international Yann-Erik de Lanlay from Norway Premier League club Viking for $115k. The young right winger from Norway had played his entire senior career with Viking. He made his senior squad debut October 17, 2010 against Odd Greenland. He made 10 caps with the Norway Under 21 squad scoring one goal and then was called up to play with the Norway Senior Squad, he made his debut against South Africa coming on as a substitute at halftime. He has gone on to make four more caps for Norway also scoring one goal for them against Moldova in a friendly earlier this year. De Lanlay has played consistently since the 2011 season, he scored his first goal for the club against Fredrikstad FK and he went onto make 125 appearances and notching 16 goals during his time at the club. With a lack of depth at the right wing position due to the that Leipzig have loaned out Marcel Sabitzer and Massimo Bruno for the rest of the season, de Lanlay will make a big impact on the and will be expected to have a big role for the upcoming season.

Christian TIffert

The third signing so far for RB Leipzig is 32 year old free agent Christian Tiffert. The German midfielder has been around the block playing for eight different clubs over the span of his senior career (Tennis Borussia Berlin, Stuttgart, RB Salzburg, Duisburg, Kaiserslautern, Seattle Sounder, Bochum and now RB Leipzig). His most successful spell was with Stuttgart making 136 appearances for Die Roten in the seven years he was with the club. He has played for two clubs outside of Germany for two clubs which only lasted one season at each club (RB Salzburg and Seattle Sounders) they can both be deemed as disappointing as he only made a combined 30 appearances outside of his home nation Germany, even though he was with Salzburg when they won the Austrian Bundesliga. He also showed potential at a young age playing for the German Under 18, 20, 21 teams making a total of 28 caps combined, he scored two goals and was apart of the German squad that finished third at the UEFA U-18 Championship. Tiffert isn’t expected to make a big impact at the club but the experience and depth that he will bring to squad could pay dividends in the end for the Leipzig based club.

Good luck Haynesy!
Diaze: Thanks mate
Some good bargains you made their! Maybe you're able to sign a great young striker, to strengthen your offense!
Tiffert is pretty good in the 2.Bundesliga as an advanced playmaker/CAM role
Taro: Thanks mate, who knows but I already have a pretty good young German striker with Palacios-Martinez
dd10: Thanks for the advice!

Kimmich Drawing Interest From European Giants

RasenBallsports Leipzig’s Joshua Kimmich has been drawing interest from all over Europe including mighty FC Barcelona, Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid and Bayern Munich. The 19 year old German defensive midfielder has been dazzling everyone with his play last season with Leipzig but a real stepping stone for him was during the U-19 EUFA Championships where he had some outstanding performances and helped them win the tournament beating Portugal 1-0 in the final. Kimmich is known the way he can dictate the play of the game in the midfield as a deep lying playmaker and can really leave a mark on a game.

The 2nd Bundesliga club will be hard pressed to keep the German starlet with European juggernauts like this showing interest. With his contract expiring in a year RB Leipzig were able to trigger his contract extension for an extra two seasons until 2017. Kimmich started out at Stuttgart during his youth days and then signed as a professional for RB Leipzig for a fee of $750k. In the two seasons with Leipzig Kimmich has had 39 appearances scoring on only one of those occasions but then again Kimmich isn’t much of a goal scorer anyways. Kimmich has had a pretty good international youth career so far picking up a combined 18 caps with the Under 17, 18, 19 and 21 squads also scoring once.

Rumors say that it will take at least $10 million to take him away from the eastern German side. There is no question that the teams interested could shell out the cast for him but it would be a huge risk buying him with that huge price tag as well as the fact he has hasn’t played in the top two flights of German football thus far in his career so we don’t know how good he actually could be. Due to that fact, teams may be reluctant to make a move for the young German wonderkid and they may hold out to buy him until next season. Even if Leipzig do keep him will he be happy? Would it ruin the squad harmony with an unhappy player in the locker room which could filter on over to other players? All of these are things that Klinsmann and RB Leipzig have to take into account while they try to make a decision make Joshua Kimmich.

2014/2015 RB Leipzig Season Preview

http://polpix.sueddeutsche.com/bild/1.1957102.1399631956/860x860/rb-leipzig.jpg
Another season of RB Leipzig football is upon us. After promotion from the 3rd Liga, RB Leipzig prepare for a season in the 2nd Bundesliga. RB Leipzig have brought in plenty of new players, fired their head coach and hired a former German international superstar, World Cup winner, former Germany and USA National Team manager and former Bayern Munich manager Jurgen Klinsmann. It was a shock signing and it was followed up with the signing of three new faces including Norwegian international Yann-Erik de Lanlay, goal keeper Phillip Tschauner and 32 year old Christian Tiffert. They join the signings this summer before Klinsmann appointment including Terrence Boyd, Zsolt Kalmar, Ante Rebic (on loan from Fiorentina), Marvin Compper, Rani Khedira, Thomas Dahne, Stefan Hierlander, Nils Quaschner and Lukas Klostermann. They also signed Marcel Sabitzer and Massimo Bruno who they immiediatly sent on loan to affiliates Red Bull Salzburg. The highlight of their transfer window may actually not be signing at all, it’s keeping Joshua Kimmich from the European giants as RB Leipzig have triggered his two year contract extension which will last until 2017 and has agreed to stay at the club long term if the club in fact does get promoted this season.

RB Leipzig are predicted to finish 6th in the 2nd Bundesliga this season at 10-1 odds, Dusseldorf, Furth and Nurnburg are the odds on favorites to win the league at 6-1 odds. Darmstadt are predicted to finish at the bottom of the table at 40-1 odds. Having just been promoted from the 3rd Liga most teams are expected to go for the double promotion and in fact it would be a triple promotion for RB Leipzig. You usually would expect for a team to have a tough time but with bringing in a lot of new faces and a powerhouse head coach could see the Leipzig based team could get promoted again into the 2nd Bundesliga.

2014/2015 RB Leipzig Squad

Goalkeepers: Fabio Coltorti (Switzerland), Phillip Tschauner (Germany), Benjamin Bellot (German)

Defenders: Tim Sebastian (Germany), Niklas Hoheneder (Austria), Sebastian Heidinger (Germany), Georg Teigl (Austria), Lukas Klostermann (Germany), Fabian Franke (Germany), Tobias Willers (Germany), Anthony Jung (Germany)

Midfielders: Joshua Kimmich (Germany), Rani Khedira (Germany), Diego Demme (Germany), Dominik Kaiser (Germany), Clemens Fandrich (Germany), Henrik Ernst (Germany), Stefan Hierlander (Austria), Christian Tiffert (Germany)

Forwards: Yann-Erik de Lanlay (Norway), Federico Palacios Martinez (Spain), Daniel Frahn (Germany), Ante Rebic (Croatia), Yussuf Poulsen (Denmark), Matthias Morys (Germany), Terrence Boyd (USA)

Key Players

Yussuf Poulsen

Yussuf Poulsen will be key for promotion this year for Die Bullen as he will need to be on his game this year to help get Leipzig into the Bundesliga. The 20 year old Demark target man will be the first choice striker for RB this season and will be a big piece of the puzzle this season.

Joshua Kimmich

Joshua Kimmich will be the the commander of the midfield for Leipzig. The young 19 year old central midfielder will be relied on heavily in the midfielder to help facilitate the forwards in play. With the combination of his work rate, passing, composure and ability Kimmich is able to roam throughout the midfield and make plays all over the field for the quick transition in the counter attack.

Marvin Compper

Marvin Compper who just signed for RB Leipzig this summer for $750,000 from Italian club Fiorentina. The experienced 29 year old center back will be huge for Leipzig and bolstering their weak backbone. In a defense that will be the downfall of this team this year Compper will have the pull the weight in the back for the Leipzig club in order for them to have success this season

Young Player to Watch For

Yann-Erik de Lanlay

http://static.transfermarkt.net/bilder/spielerfotos/s_163642_239_2013_06_14_1.jpg
Yann-Erik de Lanlay is the young player to watch for RB Leipzig this season. The electrifying right winger will hopefully be an impact player this year. After coming over for a bargain of $115k from Norway club Viking. The 22 year old has already made for caps for the Norway National Team scoring on one of those occasions. It is with the ball where de Lanlay is had his best with his fantastic pace, acceleration, dribbling and teamwork as well. With Marcel Sabitzer and Massimo Bruno out on loan de Lanlay will be relied on heavily for RB Leipzig and has a huge chance to prove himself here in Germany.

2014/2015 RB Leipzig Kit Unveiling

RasenBall Sport Leipzig have unveiled their new kits ahead of their first season as a club in the 2nd Bundesliga. Red Bull is obviously the kit sponsor as they are owned by the Red Bull company itself. Adidas is the designer of these kits and will manufacture them as well. Their home kit is white based with red and yellow diagonal strips, their away kits are blue with yellow on top of them to create a two-toned jersey. Their third kits which will only be worn on special occasions in black with three vertical lines one blue, one red and one yellow, the same colors as the club logo. RB Leipzig will be hoping to play just as good as their kits will look this year as they push for promotion into the Bundesliga.

Shoutout to @Retrogott for the great kit designs

It was a pretty good preseason for RB Leipzig to get Klinsmann tenure of head coach of Leipzig off on the right foot winning four of their 4 preseason games and drawing the other against Ligue 1 side EA Guingamp. The highlight of the preseason still has to be the highlight of the preseason and it showed themselves that they can compete with a top tier club. Poulsen, Palacio-Martinez and Frahn all scored three goals throughout the preseason, also Kimmich and Poulsen led the team with two assists each in preseason. Yussuf Poulsen wins Player of the Preseason award with three goals and two assists including a goal against EA Guingamp. Hopefully this good preseason form can carry onto 2nd Bundesliga play as they start the season on the 3rd of August against Sandhausen.
