It has been an eventful month for Liverpool as they crash out of the Champions League after losing to Juventus with an aggregate score of 4-6, the Italian side putting 5 past them in the second leg at Juventus Stadium after Liverpool won the first leg 2-1. While dropping out of the Champions League, they have also made it to the FA Cup Final, beating West Bromwich in extra time to seal their appearance in another cup final this season. At the same time, they remain top of the league, and with only one month remaining until the end of the season, Liverpool are looking set to win their first title since 1990.

Martin Skrtel has performed well this season and was influential in helping his team keep 2 Premier League clean sheets this month, the only downside being the 5-2 loss to Juventus. An immense defender who has made his presence felt not only throughout the month but also the season.

Manager's Thoughts

It was great to get two great wins in the Premier League. We also drew against Manchester United but what matters is that we're top of the league at the moment, but hopefully this result doesn't come back to haunt us. Cup-wise, we've fought our way to the FA Cup Final after three fantastic goals in extra time against West Bromwich. Dropping out from the Champions League at just the Quarter Final stage is very disappointing but this can be a start for us to propel toward greater heights next season. Forgetting about the Champions League for now, there's only one final month left and we will have to keep pushing on. We want that domestic treble, and we're going to get it.

I think it's a very good result, taking in mind that it was the 1st time in years that CL hit the shores of Mereyside. Very nice to see that you're in another final.

Very disappointing to go out of the Champions League to such a heavy loss, but nonetheless it wasn't a bad month for the rest of your competitions. Roll on the FA Cup Final!!

Must have been extremely frustrating to go out of the CL, but there are still plenty of positives with an FA Cup Final upcoming and the league title looking set on heading to Liverpool. With the right additions in the summer, you'll be much stronger and better prepared for Europe, and by then will hopefully be able to push further on in the competition. I'm thoroughly enjoying the story, either way!

Dejan Lovren has come out publicly to demand a move away from Liverpool, after signing for the club only last summer.

The 25-year-old has found first-team opportunities limited at Anfield this season, with the superb form of Mamadou Sakho, Martin Skrtel and Eder Alvarez Balanta keeping him out of the team sheet.

The last time he played for Liverpool was three months ago in January, where he earned himself a red card in the 90th minute against Leicester City.

Liverpool paid a hefty £20 million for the defender's services, but Lovren has demonstrated nothing to show that he is worthy of his price tag, only being able to make 9 appearances in the Premier League this season and a measly 18 appearances in all competitions.

Additionally, he has been made to train with the Under-21s and it is understood that he has fallen out with manager Brendan Rodgers after a number of arguments.


Speaking to Sky Sports today, Lovren told reporters, "I am not happy at Liverpool. I want to play, I want to help the team and I'm not being given a chance here. It is in the interest of all parties that I leave the club as soon as possible.

"I know there is interest from foreign clubs and I would really like to play in a different league, like La Liga or Serie A. Liverpool is a great club, but I'm desperate to move on because I'm not getting any game time here."

The Croatian international's attitude in training has been anything but ideal and his performances have not impressed Rodgers nor his coaching staff, and it is believed that the red card he got against Leicester was the last straw for the management.

"I would be happy to let Lovren leave," Rodgers admitted, after being pressed for a response from journalists. "If we can find a club who are willing to pay the right price, he is free to leave any time. That will happen in the summer, I prefer to focus on what is just ahead of us for now."

Liverpool have won the Premier League title, ending their 2014/15 season spectacularly with a 6-3 win over Queens Park Rangers at Anfield.

The Reds took 96 points from 38 games, winning 30 and drawing 6, with their only two losses in the league coming against Manchester City and Arsenal early on in the season. They left title rivals Manchester United in the dust, who are 2nd with 86 points, 10 below Liverpool.



It has been the perfect season for Liverpool and Brendan Rodgers. The Northern Irishman has done brilliantly this season and enforced his promises of being better than last season, where he took his side to finish 2nd place behind Manchester City.

Rodgers' implementation of his passing and possession style into the Liverpool team can be regarded as the key to their success this season, where they not only lifted the Premier League but also the Capital One Cup, and are due to play in the FA Cup Final next week against Arsenal.

Rodgers aside, Liverpool will be celebrating their first title win since 1990, bringing them to a total of 19 title wins so far in their history - 1 shy of Manchester United's 20.

At the other end of the table, Crystal Palace, Leicester City and Burnley have been relegated and will play in the Championship next season.

I'm John Thomas reporting live from Wembley Stadium for yet another cup final between two of English football's greatest powers. In barely minutes from now, Arsenal will contest Liverpool for the decorated FA Cup. The two sides already battled it out against each other in the Capital One Cup Final, where Liverpool took the cup home with a 3-1 win.

Having just won the title, Liverpool players are on a high and will be looking to end off their season with a perfect treble. Similarly, Arsenal, who finished a disappointing 6th in the table, will not want to be recognized as the team who participated in and lost two cup finals within a single season.


Arsenal started their run in the FA Cup shakily as Brentford forced a second game with a 0-0 draw, but the Gunners eventually rid themselves of their Championship opponents by crushing them 5-0 in the replay. They outclassed rivals Chelsea in the Fourth Round to advance, followed by Norwich in the Fifth Round after a replay. Wolves were brushed aside in the Sixth Round, and despite putting up a great fight, Queens Park Rangers were unable to overcome them in the Semi Finals.

An unfortunately-timed injury to usual first-choice Wojciech Szczęsny has forced Arsene Wenger to start the game with David Ospina and youth team keeper Damian Martinez on the bench. The manager might have also learned from his previous cup final experience, now choosing not to start any youngsters, as experienced players Mathieu Debuchy, Laurent Koscielny, Neven Subotic and Kieran Gibbs form the back four. He has also opted for a central midfield pairing of Abou Diaby and Aaron Ramsey, while Alexis Sanchez and Santi Cazorla will attack from the wings, with Danny Welbeck up front supported by the talented Mesut Ozil.


Liverpool were awarded a fairly easy starting opponent in the form of York City. Breezing through the Third Round, as well as the Fourth and Fifth Rounds against Fulham and Wigan, they soon met a stumbling block against Southampton, who played brilliantly to cause the Sixth Round to be settled by a replay. They continued their form in the replay, only to be denied progress through the tournament thanks to a Mario Balotelli goal in extra time. West Bromwich also made Liverpool work in the Semi Finals, only to be blown apart by 3 goals in extra time.

The title-winning back four of Nathaniel Clyne, Mamadou Sakho, Martin Skrtel, and Alberto Moreno has done no wrong this entire season and are thus unsurprisingly included in the starting eleven. Sitting in front of them is Steven Gerrard, who will hope to add a third FA Cup winner's medal to his trophy collection. Jordan Henderson starts in his central midfield position and will look to get balls up to the front three of Raheem Sterling, Philippe Coutinho and Adam Lallana. Leading the line is Mario Balotelli, in the absence of Daniel Sturridge due to injury.

0' - And the FA Cup Final starts with the first kick of the ball! We are in for a great game.

1' - Arsenal already looking to be on the offensive, with the ball being swept up to Alexis Sanchez, who attempts to get a cross in, but it's intercepted and cleared by Martin Skrtel.

22' - But the first team to test a goalkeeper is inevitably Liverpool, after Philippe Coutinho plays a pinpoint pass for Raheem Sterling, who easily gets free of his marker and has an effort, but David Ospina makes a great save to deny the winger a goal.

45' - HT: Arsenal 0-0 Liverpool. Not the best of cup finals we've seen so far, but that will hopefully change in the second half.

45' - We kick off the second half after a largely uneventful first 45 minutes. Arsenal makes a half-time change with Olivier Giroud coming on for Danny Welbeck.

60' - A long throw-in into Arsenal's box by Nathaniel Clyne finds Adam Lallana, who makes a smart pass to the oncoming Coutinho. Liverpool's magician strikes it but Ospina is there to save the day once again.


61' - Arsenal attempt to launch a counter attack, but Mathieu Debuchy's right wing cross finds it's way into Simon Mignolet's hands instead of Giroud.

62' - The Gunners are undeterred as they keep possession, taking a leaf out of Liverpool's book as they display some passing football before finally hoofing the ball up to Sanchez, but the Chilean's soft strike at goal is comfortably stopped by Mignolet.

63' - Santi Cazorla, who has been completely ineffective today, is substituted for Joel Campbell to make his first FA Cup Final appearance.

69' - Mesut Ozil is the next to be switched out, as Jack Wilshere comes in to take his place.

71' - Balotelli receives a Raheem Sterling corner and heads it towards the net but Ospina refuses to be beaten, gathering the ball into his safe hands.

73' - GOAL! 0-1! Sterling in a great position made an amazing through pass to play in Coutinho, and the Brazilian seizes the opportunity to smash it in hard, giving his side the lead at a crucial time. Only 17 minutes left for Arsenal to find a response.


75' - Liverpool make a double substitution, Adam Lallana comes off for Lazar Markovic, while Lucas Leiva replaces the excellent Steven Gerrard.

84' - PENALTY! Rushing to meet a Balotelli free kick, Sterling is blatantly knocked to the ground by Abou Diaby in the penalty box, and the referee contemplates for a moment before pointing to the spot.

85' - GOAL! 0-2! No problem for Balotelli as he finishes it in the right hand corner of the net.


87' - With the game left in it's dying stages, Eder Alvarez Balanta comes on for Skrtel to provide a fresh face in Liverpool's defense.

90' - FT: Arsenal 0-2 Liverpool. Liverpool are your FA Cup winners this season and with the League Cup and Premier League title, they have completed a historic treble! Brendan Rodgers has well and truly built a flawless squad and the Liverpool lads will be partying through the night.
