2nd placed Liverpool travel to the Hawthorns to face West Bromwich Albion this Saturday, with new signing Chris Brunt hopefully making his debut against his old club.

West Brom have had a shaky start to the Premier League season, drawing two and losing one under th management with new manager Alan Irvine. Liverpool, on the other hand, have won two and drawn one in the month of the season with Robbie Fowler, who took second place in the Manager of the Month poll, barely losing out to Manchester City's Manuel Pellegrini.

Liverpool are currently sitting in 2nd place in the Premier League, and are currently mounting a serious title challenge this early into the season. West Bromwich Albion are 16th in the Premier League with 2 points, and are two places above the relegation zone, which they will be hoping not to be in come the end of the season.

With a team featuring players like Claudio Yacob, Brown Ideye and Graham Dorrans, all of them being physically and technically good players, West Brom should be looking to create an upset at the Hawthorns this Saturday, but will face a lot of opposition from Mario Balotelli, Lazar Markovic and Steven Gerrard, who will all be looking to put Liverpool ahead in the scoresheet and the table.

As for injuries, Daniel Sturridge has been officially ruled out of the match due to his injury, and Martin Skrtel is absent due to his suspension. Adam Lallana with rumoured to be playing today, but instead he has been ruled out with unfitness, the same going to Joe Allen.

Liverpool's new signing Chris Brunt starts his first Liverpool game on the bench against his old club, who he will be anxious to try and get a win against today. There is rumoured to be a good feeling about the meeting, and no bad blood is held between Brunt and Irvine.

The match will start at 15:00 on Saturday 13th September 2014 at the Hawthorns, where admission is £32.

West Bromwich Albion had their midfield to thank for keeping them within the match, as they continuously stopped the barrage that was Mario Balotelli and Philippe Coutinho during the secon half of the game at The Hawthorns.

West Brom Winger Silvestre Varela gave West Brom the lead with a deftly-executed finish in the 28th minute. Flamboyant striker Mario Balotelli then equalized for Liverpool in the 54th minute with a well struck effort which found it's way into the back of the net via. the goalpost.

Advanced Playmaker James Morrison then put West Brom back in front after 74 minutes with a close range effort. With time rapidly running out, tireless midfielder Jordan Henderson then scored a deftly executed finish from long range to equalize for Liverpool.

Better late than never for Liverpool and the fans were clearly delighted with Henderson's late impact that saved the game for their side.

Robbie Fowler: I can't say that I'm not disappointed. I thought that after a brilliant win against Leicester, we could transfer our momentum over to here, but it hasn't happened. I feel bad for the fans, they must be devastated, especially since we were losing for most of the match, and I have to apologize to them on behalf of myself and the Liverpool team and staff.

Alan Irvine: Well, I thought we dominated them, plain and simple. We were winning for most of the match and we held them off the best we could do. I am pleased with our performance and I believe this will definitely spur us on to get a win.

Russian side Zenit St. Petersburg travel to Anfield this Tuesday to take on Premier League runners-up Liverpool in the first match of the Champions League Group A.

Zenit and their new manager Andre Villas-Boas have been dominating the Russian league so far this season, sitting at the top with 0 losses. They also dominated Feyenoord and FC Kobenhavn in the Champions League playoffs, and now they face a big challenge in Robbie Fowler's Liverpool side.

Liverpool have looked rather deadly so far this season in the Premier League, sitting comfortably in 3rd in the Premier League with 2 wins and 2 draws. Under the leadership of veteran Steven Gerrard and management of legend Robbie Fowler, Liverpool have reshaped their tactics and mentalities to improve on last season.

Zenit St. Petersburg have not made any transfers this window, but have not let anyone leave, keeping hold of veteran players like Danny, Alexandr Kerzhakov, Axel Witsel and Domenico Criscito. Zenit St. Petersburg continue their prolific and undefeated campaign with a 3-1 win over Liverpool at Anfield.

Experienced striker Alexandr Kerzhakov got Zenit off to a flying start by scoring a well-timed finish from close range on 8 minutes. An error from Liverpool's Alberto Moreno allowed inside forward Hulk to score a shot which owed an assist to the woodwork. Another error from Liverpool, this one being committed by Martin Skrtel, allowed deep-lying playmaker Victor Faizulin to score a placed shot to take Zenit's lead up to 3-0. Slovakia Captain Martin Skrtel then summed up Liverpool's performance by nearly gifting Zenit another goal in the 64th minute.

Wonderkid Raheem Sterling then pulled one back for Liverpool after 90 minutes with an incisive finish from 15 metres. It was a superb solo effort and Sterling looked delighted from the goal.

Liverpool turned possession into goals with a 5-1 win over Queens Park Rangers. The highlight of the game was undoubtedly a superb hat-trick from Liverpool's Raheem Sterling.

Wonderkid Raheem Sterling gave Liverpool the lead with a well-timed close-range finish in the 15th minute. Q.P.R.'s equalizer came through Adel Taarabt as he seized on Dejan Lovren's mistake to score a placed shot which hit the inside of the post before crossing the line. Q.P.R. enjoyed a considerable size advantage, weighing an average 8kg more per player, but were unable to overcome their much lighter opponents, perhaps proving that on a wet evening at Anfield at least, brains are more important than brawn.

Liverpool finally took the lead when England and Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard scored a close range finish which was timed impeccably on 61 minutes. Liverpool had a number of attempts at goal but their profligacy meant they didn't score as many as they maybe would've hoped to.

Newcastle United are slight underdogs in what should prove to be a tightly contested affair against League runners-up Liverpool, according to Sky Bet.
