Why Bolton Wanderers?

I'm a huge admirer of stories and love the in depth information people use however, since the demise of Bolton Wanderers from the dizzying heights of European Football to being a struggling, debt ridden championship side, I haven't really seen any topics or stories about them.
Like most people, I wanted a new challenge and Bolton just came to me, possibly seeing them lose 2-1 to Liverpool last night haha.

About Bolton Wanderers

The stadium itself holds an impressive 28,723 people and is wasted while the club is playing in the second tier of english football.
Boasting great youth facilities and excellent training facilities the club is clearly underachieving.

One major issue is the fact that the club is £134 million in debt so the main job for the new manager will be to attempt to wipe that over the seasons, get rid of the deadwood and sign smart and try to invest in youth.

- Up Next - Bolton Wanderers invest in a new young manager

Breaking news coming out of the Reebok Stadium as Dougie Freedman is replaced as manager with unknown youngster Luke Boys taking the reigns.

Welshman Luke Boys has this to say, 'What a pleasure it is to take the job at this once top club. I've watched from afar as the club have slowly slipped out of peoples minds and that I feel needs to be rectified. The club is massive and should be plying its trade once again in the top flight of english football battling for places in Europe. Obviously this won't happen overnight and will require patience but I feel I am the right man for the job and am fully committed to the cause.'

Mr Boys went on to say 'The club is carrying alot of debt and too many players are being carried with huge wages. I will remove anyone I feel is deadwood. My first port of call is to free up the wage budget of the big earners and stick with the chairmans philosophy of signing young players and developing our own through our well respected youth academy.'

Players on the firing line

Matt Mills - Big earner sitting in the reserves (22k per week)
Jermaine Beckford - Journeyman finds himself not needed in the new regime (20k per week)
Tyrone Mears - Too old (16k per week)
Zat Knight - Another one that the manager feels isnt in his plans (14k per week)
Andy Lonergan - Has a top goalkeeper in Bogdan (8k per week)

Up next - Transfers In/Out, Aims and Pre season performances
Aims this season;
- Even though the media has predicted a 6th place finish, realistically the manager hopes for a top 12 finish.
- Pay off as much of the debt as possible
- Get rid of the top earners
- Invest in young players for use in the first team squad while using as many youngsters already at the club as possible
- Make more money from players sold than spent on players brought to the club

Summer Transfer Window[/b

Matt Mills, having found himself unwanted at the club under Luke Boys, has moved to fellow Championship side Leeds United for a fee believed to be around £1m. Although a loss on what they spend, the manager is glad to free up wage and get rid of one of the big earners at the club.

Tyrone Mears, another top earner has left the club for championship strugglers Blackpool for a knowdown free of £250k. The fans were less than please by the fee recieved, however, with the future in mind and the player being 30 years of age, the new gaffer hopes they will keep the faith in him and his ways.

The biggest update of the transfer market so far for the club has seen the departure of one of their most prized assets in Lee Chung Yong. The Korean international has moved to Portuguese powerhouses Benfica. The fee is believed to be around £6m, how much of this the club will see as investment is anyones guess, however the Manager is happy with transfer and the fee recieved.
The player has this to say 'Its an honour to play for European giants Benfica and I can't wait to start testing myself on the biggest level. I enjoyed my time at Bolton and wish them all the best under their new manager, there is a buzz about the dressing room and I'm sad to say goodbye.'

There has also been two loans made with Andy Lonergan moving to Barnsley for the season and academy player Oscar Threlkeld gaining experience at Skrill side Eastleigh.

Up Next - Players In and Pre season
Having seen 3 players move clubs and 2 players leave on loan so far, new Manager Mr Boys wasn't too happy to see that very little of the revenue made from the sales was put back into the transfer kitty. However, to keep in line with philosophies held by himself and the chairman, hes keen to add youth to the squad with very little stress put on the wage bill.

First signing for the new manager sees rising star Luke Ayling arrive from Yeovil Town for a fee around £600k. The player was wanted by an array of clubs and the manager feels priviledged to have been able to capture his signature
The fans are excited at the prospect of seeing the player progress at their club.

'The most exciting player in the age grades of English football at the moment'
'A young Steven Gerrard'
These are just two statements made about Bolton Wanderers second signing of the season.
Luke Boys has captured a player with a huge future ahead of him. Dele Alli arrives from MK Dons for a fee of £650k plus add ons. The fee could eventually rise to £2 million depending on goals and appearances.
There is a massive buzz surrounding this player and everyone involved with the club are bouncing to see what hes made of.
