Giuseppe Iachini is the new manager on Renzo Barbera

The demanding nature of the role of Palermo coach is reflected by the fact Gattuso becomes the 38th coach to be fired by Zamparini. His replacement is Giuseppe Iachini, who brings with him many years of experience in the second tier of Italian football, guiding Chievo, Brescia and Sampdoria to promotion in recent seasons.

“I have vested in Giuseppe Iachini the responsibility of leading us into Serie A,” continued Zamparini. “He’s a coach and a man I know and appreciate since he was captain of Venezia, who we led into Serie A.”

Indeed, before taking the presidency of Palermo, Zamparini was responsible for Venezia’s rise to the top-flight. He changed coach six times in three years to get there and has now replaced his coach a total of 44 times in 25 years as a club president.

First official transfer for Palermo

Striker Joao Silva has finally moved to Palermo after the initial deal to sign the striker from Bari failed to be completed.

Due to bureaucratic problems the relevant paperwork failed to be delivered before the deadline passed by 33 seconds, with both the Rosanero and the Galletti appealing the decision.

The appeal was heard on Tuesday and both clubs announced on their websites that the deal had been concluded.

“Palermo can announce the purchase of Joao Silva from Bari. The player moves to the club and has signed a three-year contract with the Rosanero,” was the official statement from Palermo.

The striker has made 43 appearances for the Serie B club scoring eight goals

Great start, and if you can, look at Walter Kannemann, a player I signed for a Palermo save and did great (and cheaper than Balanta). Dybala is world class for me in my Juve save, got him to score 20 goals and assist 15, so you got a gem in him!
