Arsene Wenger's 18 Year Reign Comes to an End

http://arsenalwallpapers10.net/wp-content/uploads/images/bc/arsene-wenger.jpg

Arsene Wenger will go down as one of the greatest legends at Arsenal Football Club, winning the Premier League 3 times, and the FA Cup 5 times. However his resignation has taken longer than many fans have wanted, with them becoming increasingly frustrated with the direction their club is currently going. One of Wenger's most passionate critiques, Piers Morgan, has been making his feelings felt this week, and todays news will certainly bring a smile to his face.

However, the big job for the Board at Arsenal is to find a suitable replacement to bring the Club the glory they once achieved. Many feel bringing an ex-professional from the 'glory years' will be the right move, as it will spark a revival; favourites being the likes of Vieria and Bergkamp. However, high profile managers such as Guardiola are also supposedly on the radar.

Bergkamp Not Ready for Arsenal just yet

Dennis Bergkamp has admitted he would relish the chance to return to Arsenal at some point in the future, as he eyes a role within the club.
Bergkamp, who played more than 400 games for Arsenal after signing from Inter Milan in 1995, is currently involved in the coaching set-up at Ajax, another of his former clubs.
"I have just started my career at Ajax as an assistant coach, being part of the Ajax philosophy, trying to get players through the system," Bergkamp said.
"We just started that, so I don't think now is the time to leave that aside and do something else, but in the future I would love to come to this country, to this league and this club especially."
Bergkamp also spoke of his pride after he attended the unveiling of his bronze statue outside the Emirates Stadium on Saturday.
Bergkamp joins the likes of Tony Adams and Thierry Henry in being celebrated in this manner by Arsenal, and admitted he was honoured to accept the accolade.

This news comes after bookmakers made Bergkamp, Guardiola, and Klopp favourites for the Arsenal jobs. With Bergkamp out of the equation, it now seems, it is hard to decide who will be the new top man at the Emirates.

Thierry Henry to be next Arsenal manager? Bookmakers slash odds after influx of bets

Bookmaker bwin have dropped the odds from 80/1 to 14/1 after Arsene Wenger's comments on an Henry return forced a 'flurry of bets' on the market

Bookmakers have dropped Thierry Henry's odds to become Arsenal's next manager after an influx of bets on Tuesday morning.

Henry, the Gunners all-time record goalscorer, did not make it clear what the next step of his career would be, but many suggested it could involve a coaching role.

Bookmakers bwin reported a 'flurry of bets' on the market, resulting in them shortening the odds from 80/1 to 14/1.

Glenn Woodage told the London Evening Standard: "North London is alive with the idea that Thierry Henry is returning to Arsenal.

"With his playing career surely over, the punters seem to think that Henry is the man who can transform Arsenal from nearly men to invincibles once more.

"Our odds have plummeted – only Jurgen Klopp is considered the more likely replacement."

Henry told the Daily Mail: "I have not taken any decision and speculation is not my thing. One thing is certain: I will stay in football, as a coach, a consultant or executive. We will see.

"The second certainty is that I would love to see Arsenal win the Champions League. Whether that is from near or far does not depend on me, but it is sure I'd like to help.

"This is my club and, as a player, I was not able to give them the Champions League."

Henry has given no further indication on his future as of yet, although he has been offered a coaching role at Ligue 1 side Bordeaux, where his friend Will Sagnol is the head coach.

Thierry Henry is the new Arsenal manager

Arsenal Football Club is delighted to announce that Thierry Henry has signed a contract until 30th of June 2015 making him the new Head Coach at his beloved Club

Henry retired from football last week after playing his last game for New York Red Bulls. He will arrive in London tomorrow to sign his contract and hold a press conference.

As player, it was at Arsenal that Henry made his name as a world-class player. Despite initially struggling in the Premier League, he emerged as Arsenal's top goal-scorer for almost every season of his tenure there. Under long-time mentor and coach Arsène Wenger, Henry became a prolific striker and Arsenal's all-time leading scorer with 228 goals in all competitions. The Frenchman won two league titles and three FA Cups with the Gunners; he was runner-up for the FIFA World Player of the Year twice, was named the PFA Players' Player of the Year twice, and the FWA Footballer of the Year three times. Henry spent his final two seasons with Arsenal as club captain, leading them to the 2006 UEFA Champions League Final.

Arsenal fans are absolutely estatic with the choice of Henry being appointed Head Coach. The fans felt like the spark Arsenal once had was gone, but Thierry can hopefully bring it back to the famous Club. The lack of experience Henry has in the role is questionable, but it is certainly exciting to see what type of manager the beloved man will be.

Henry Blasts Arsenal during a Punditry Appearance after becoming Arsenal's Head Coach

The former Arsenal forward said the club had 'gone backwards'

http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2015/01/18/24D215EB00000578-0-image-a-64_1421608603655.jpg

Thierry Henry made an explosive start to life as Arsenal's Head Coach by admitting Arsenal has 'gone backwards' over the last few years.
Henry, sitting alongside Graeme Souness and presenter Ed Chamberlin on Sky's Pre Season Show, believes Arsenal are missing a world class holding midfielder to protect the likes of Per Mertesacker and Laurent Koscielny.

The 37-year-old stressed the importance of former team-mates Patrick Vieira and Gilberto Silva during Arsenal's unbeaten Premier League campaign in the 2003-04 season. The news is likely to unrest players such as Flamini, who has often been the first choice in the holding role for Arsenal.

The Frenchman also speculated interest in Dortmund's midfielder Sven Bender by stating "a player like Bender in your team gives you the aggression needed for teams to not want to play you. At the moment we lack a player with that quality."

Arsenal Hire Les Reed in a New Role within the Emirates - Director of Football

http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/cms_images/news/les-reed-presser148-1509855_478x359.png

The concept of a Director of Football has slowly begin to be established within English football, with the likes of Baldini at Tottenham. The newest club to use this approach is Arsenal, who seem to be going through a big change at the moment with their change in managers. Les Reed is the man to be assigned, who has swapped clubs, previously being the Director of Football at Southampton.

Ivan Gazidis is the man who began the idea of bringing in an individual for this never seen before role at Arsenal.
Gazidis has stated "This role has been discussed for a while within the boardroom and has often been top of debate. With the managerial role being changed the board agreed this would be the perfect time to bring in a director of football. We discussed this decision with Thierry at great lengths, and he was very open to the idea. Thierry is new to management, and Les will be a strong individual for Thierry to look to for advice."
"It is important however that we as a Club state that Thierry Henry is the main decision maker regarding the team at Arsenal Football Club."

Henry Revamps Arsenal Midfield

Sven Bender

Dortmund's ex hard man midfielder has joined Arsenal for £12.25 million. The German international has been on the end of high speculation for the past couple of weeks that he was joining Arsenal after Henry stated he is the perfect candidate for the holding role to protect the defence.

Bender is likely to be the first picked defensive midfielder in the side, before the likes of Coquelin, who is slowly making a name for himself within the Arsenal set up.

Sami Khedira

Another German international joins the Arsenal set up. Khedira has bags of experience under his belt, even at the age of 27. He has lifted the La Liga Crown on two separate occasions, as well as the Champions League under Real Madrid.
Henry stated "It is important to bring in players who are used to winning and succeeding. Success needs to be indoctrinated within the set up we have here, and Sami is an individual who is used to it, and more importantly expects it."
Khedira was targeted by Liverpool, PSG, and Chelsea, however he decided to join Arsenal after talks with Henry and Les Reed. He was bought for £14 million.

Arsenal Sign Martinez from Real Sociedad

Inigo Martinez

Martinez is a Spanish Centre Back who is a promising prospect. He already has the quality to play within the Arsenal squad and will be looking to implement a solid spot in the first team.

Thierry Henry said that "Martinez is a quality player. He is an all round player, with great technical attributes. He also is a tough player to play against and isn't a soft player at all. Aggression is needed to be put back in Arsenal, and Inigo is yet another player I have brought over to the Emirates who offers us the attribute."

He was bought for £20.5 million, which suggests Henry rates the player highly. A Centre Back was needed for Arsenal, as there was previously only cover offered for the position from left and right backs such as Monreal.
Community Shield

Arsenal faced Manchester City in the Charity Shield, which saw 90,000 fans travel to Wembley on a warm summers day in London.
http://leroysbettingtips.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/Wembley.jpg
The game gave Thierry Henry his first chance of winning silverware with Arsenal. With this only being his first game in charge it seemed like pressure was looming over his shoulders. The game also gave Arsenal fans a chance to see their three new signings in action, as they al started.

The Match

The match begun with Arsenal playing their usual possession based football, however their attacking spark was non existent. Manchester City looked more dangerous and this paid off for the side in the 20th minute when Yaya Toure put City ahead.
This goal seemed to kick some spirit into the Arsenal side, and it took them only 10 minutes to get an equaliser, which was scored by their key man Alexis Sanchez.

The game then kicked into life with good football from both sides, but the defensive efforts were immense, and the game finished 1-1, which meant penalties.

Arsenal had injury problems before the game, which meant their u21 goalkeeper, Damian Martinez, was called upon. He had a good game, and he looked confident when the shootout began.
However, unfortunately Arsenal lost the shootout as they missed all attempts.

Henry after the game stated "It was disappointing not to lift a trophy in my first game, but hey I guess I shouldn't be that greedy" whilst laughing with the journalists.
He also said he was very pleased with his teams performance, and "a 1-1 draw in 90 minutes against a strong Manchester City side is nothing to be disappointed with. Focus is now on our next match, the Tottenham game at White Hart Lane, this is the exciting start I always imagined my managerial career to take"

September Review

A pretty decent month for Arsenal, see's them lying in a healthy position of 3rd in Premier League, with only West Brom and Aston Villa sitting in front of them, both of which are unlikely to stay right up there. Henry has expressed how pleased he is to have an advantage over the big team such as Manchester United and Chelsea already. The only lost points came at White Hart Lane in the North London Derby. Arsenal battled back from 3-1 to draw 3-3 in the second half during this game, and it has to be said that Arsenal look like a team with a lot of heart under Henry.

The Champions League has also got to a good start for Arsenal as they beat Dnipro 4-2 on aggregate, seeing them qualify for the group stages.

Player of the Month
Santi Carzola
http://cdn.images.express.co.uk/img/dynamic/67/590x/secondary/146030.jpg
The talented Spaniard is competing with the likes of Sanchez, Ozil, and Oxlade-Chamberlain to gain a solid first team spot, and he has certainly made a good start at gaining one. He has had a solid performance in every game he has played, and never seems to lose the ball. He has also come up with some magical moments along the way, which is part of his eccentric way of playing football. He scored 4 goals in the first month, making him the second top goal scorer just behind Sanchez with 5. Three of Carzola's goals have come in the League, making him the top goalscorer for Arsenal in this Competition, arguably their most important of Competitions.
A brilliant start to a story which has a lot of potential. Some interesting signings but a much needed revamp of a club which has needed one for a couple of seasons now. Keep up the hard work with the story and save!
