After two horrible seasons Wolverhampton was relegated two times in a row, new faces were needed. Now, Wolves are back, aiming for Premier League once more. Kenny Jackett was brought to get the job done and to promote the team.

Here is what Mr. Jackett said : "I came here to build this team, if everyone performs at their best we have a chance of playing in Premier League very soon. We will need to work a lot, both on and off the pitch, we will need to work with what we have this season, but I'll be looking to improve squad as soon as possible."

Rumors about Kevin Doyle leaving club are getting louder, fans complain his paycheck is blocking club from getting new and fresh faces. Just to remind you Doyle is earning 51k p/w, he came from Reading for 7.75M and scored 9 goals at best in season 2009/10. Last year he was loaned to Q.P.R. where he scored 2 goals in 6 games.

Young Zeli Ismail was moved from U21 to first team squad. Ricketts, Ismail, Sako and Doyle are in last year of their contracts. Ricketts who is 32 will probably leave when his contract runs out, he may stay if he accepts salary cut. Ismail already accepted new contract until 2017, he will earn 2k p/w. Club is still talking with Sako but he asks for over 30k p/w, that is amount club can't pay in this position.

With only 7 days left until Sky Bet Championship finally starts we bring you full pre - season report of Wolverhampton Wanderers. As promised new faces joined Wolves.

In :
Antony Wordsworth from Ipswich for 325k
Joe Dudgeon from Hull for 300k

Out :
Kortney House loan to Portsmouth
Dominic Iorfa loan to Ipswich

Manager Kenny Jackett wanted his chairman to find senior affiliate for Wolves but board refused saying : "We want to create our own players not loan them". Discussion was going for hours, Mr. Jackett thought this idea would really help his club, board still refused. Mr. Jackett stated that this won't change anything between him and board. Here you can see Molineux was full in first friendly game against Dynamo Kiev, everybody wanted to see new squad and new manager.

Tomasz Kuszczak signed new contract until 2016. Faith of Doyle and Sako is still unclear. Few injuries happened before and during pre - season friendly's. Tommy Rowe, Carl Ikeme, Richard Stearman, and Lee Evans missed all pre - season games. Ikeme will be ready for first game against Norwich, Stearman and Evans are out for 3 - 4 weeks while Rowe should be ready for second game. Nouha Dicko recommended himself as first striker by scoring 5 goals in 5 games. Here are results :

Wolves 0 - 2 Dynamo Kiev

Wolves 3 - 0 Eibar

Hibernian 0 - 1 Wolves

Doncaster 1 - 1 Wolves

Chamois 1 - 3 Wolves

AFC Telford 0 - 3 Wolves
Nice pre-season, good luck for the upcoming season! Will be interesting to see what you can do with Wolves :)

Only seven days are left until transfer windows closes, offers for Sako are coming from all sides, he made it clear he want to leave, and club has no wish to keep unhappy player and give him big salary. Wolves hoped they can keep Sako at least until January but that probably wont happen.

Wordsworth joined Evans on injured list, Wolves solved lack of players for that position with signing James Berrett from Yeovil for 600k. 3rd goalkeeper Aaron McCarey also left to join Newcastle for 225k. Wolves have hard and tight schedule at the beginning of Championship, they will start at home against Norwich who is predicted to finish first. In Capital One Cup they will play against Colchester away. Here you can see results :

Wolves 0 - 0 Norwich

Capital One Cup
Colchester 1 - 2 Wolves ( Van la Parra, Graham)

Rotherham 0 - 4 Wolves
( McDonald, Henry, Dicko x2)

Fulham 2 - 3 Wolves ( Henry, Sako, Landell)

Important points from away games, Wolves is currently sitting in 2nd place with 7pt same as first Derby. Henry has great start of the season , everyone hopes he can keep it up. It's only question of time when Sako will leave, it will be interesting to see who will replace him. Wolves will play against Southampton in next round of Capital One Cup.
It's a shame Sako has to go, but it's better to get the money in now.

Good luck with Wolves, they're proving to be a fun save!

Wolves started their season in almost perfect way, not wining at only one game. Few problems were inherited from last year, a lot players have first team contracts and that can putt Mr. Jackett in bad situation, information's were leaked about his discussion with Kevin Doyle who was rumored to leave and young Benik Afobe. Mr.Jackett didn't want his club and player to be dragged by journalists so he made a statement saying, this is what he had to say :

http://i4.birminghammail.co.uk/incoming/article4704769.ece/alternates/s615/PM3069624.jpg

"It is true, Kevin and Benik did come to me asking for more chances at first team football, what I decided will be made clear in next few matches, but I can say once thing, whatever happens, they will stay professional and so will I. Benik is young, we understand his wish to play. That is all I can say at this point." Both Kevin Doyle and Benik Afobe chose to stay silent about this incident.

On positive side Nouha Dicko, Kevin McDonald and Matt Doherty are doing fantastic job, being best in the squad.

Here you can see results :

Wolves 3 - 2 Cardiff
(Dicko, Henry, Afobe )

Capital One Cup - Second Round
Wolves 2 - 1 Southampton ( Doyle, Sako )

Wolves 0 - 0 Blackburn

Blackpool 0 - 2 Wolves (McDonald, Henry )

Charlton 3 - 3 Wolves
( Henry, Doyle, Landell )

Good results against teams who will directly fight against Wolves for playoff places. Few missed chances, Wolves were leading 2 - 0 against Charlton but allowed them to come back into game. Great result against Southampton, Wolves will play against Millwall in next round of Capital One Cup.
Bad luck against Blackburn and Charlton, but great win over Southampton. I hope you continue good work!

Thanks for comments everyone! :)

It has been officially confirmed, Doyle and Sako are staying at least until January. Sako was close to leaving but Ajax and Wolves couldn't agree on transfer fee. After good start of the season, Wolves started slowing down, tactic started to fail and many agree something needs to be changed in order to give squad new and fresh start. Mr.Jackett came with combination that will give players who complained about not getting first team football a chance to shine and win games. That tactic was first time used against Wigan, brave thing to do, change things that are proven to work in game that big, we will see how it ended later on.

Another player has been rumored to leave during January, and that is Scott Golbourne who didn't perform at his best and has thought job of doing better than Rowe and Dudgeon who both perform fantastic.

Not much happened so we will go straight to results :

Wolves 1 - 1 Bolton ( Sako )

Capital One Cup - Third Round
Wolves 4 - 0 Millwall ( Henry, van La Parra, OG, Batth )

Reading 1 - 1 Wolves
( Rowe )

Wolves 2 - 1 Huddersfield ( Afobe x2 )

Wolves 3 - 0 Wigan ( Dicko x2, Doyle )

Wolves had few draws in a row, but are back to wining now. We hope they can keep it up, they will face Liverpool in next round of Capital One Cup.
