Sutton United 2015/16 Summer Transfer Update
In a summer which saw us get rid of 23 players, we had some rebuilding to do, and apparently, our reputation preceeded us on a domestic front, as we managed to bring in some massive young names from great clubs such as Cardiff and Fulham, who had been let go by their clubs. There was some tough negotiating done, but the amount of wages left by the departing players meant we had some bargaining power, and as we didn't spend a penny, the board were happy to cut the transfer budget to give us some extra slack with wages.
1. Will Norris - Cambridge - Loan
Our first port of call was to secure a new goalkeeper to shore up a defence which, in all honesty, could look quite shaky in the new league. Will joined us on loan from Cambridge for the season, and i'm really hoping his experience can bring some assurance to our defence.
46. Matty Parsons - Maidenhead - Free
Not the most technically gifted player, but Matty does bring to the side some extra depth on the left hand side of our defence, and it is depth that we're really going to need this season. The 23 year old started his career with Crystal Palace, and made 29 rock-solid appearances for Maidenhead last season.
42. Danny Ramasut - Cardiff - Free
Only 16, Danny had trials with, and was turned down by, Cardiff City. His youth contract, at £5/week, is an absolute bargain, but as soon as he hits 17, we've agreed to give him £120/week; a stipulation his father made us include in his contract, to ensure that he wasn't distracted from school. Hopefully a player we will have for a very, very long time, Danny has a bright future ahead of him.
10. Paulo Jorge - Free Transfer
Former Blackburn starlet Paulo Jorge is a defensive midfielder who i'm looking to for some defensive stability, and to link the play between defence and midfield. Paulo started his career at Braga, before moving to Porto, but never really got a break before Blackburn bought him for £250k in 2012. Despite his price tag, Paulo never made it past the reserves, and when he was released, we offered him way back to first-team football. He's not a player i'm expecting to keep for any length of time, but having his class on board is a massive boost for us.
6. Darragh Lenihan - Free Transfer

Another graduate of Blackburn's youth academy, Darragh spent last season on loan at Burton Albion, and made 28 solid appearances. It wasn't enough to secure his first-team football; the draw of that first team football is what swayed him to come to us - other teams were chasing him, but in League 1, they couldn't promise him the game tome which we're offering him. A great talent, but i'm sure, again, that we are nothing but a stepping stone for him
44. Lyle Della Verde - Free Transfer

A name instantly recognisable to many who follow football in the UK, Lyle's Fulham contract wasn't extended last season, and as with Paulo and Jorge, our offer of first-team, regular football was one which he found it difficult to say no to. I have no doubts that he could play at a much higher level than this, and again, I don't expect his career with his to be a long-term arrangement
12. Daniel Akindayini - Free Transfer

Another premier league graduate, Daniel was let go by Tottenham, and spent a month on trial at Gateshead, where he warmed their bench for the whole of pre-season before we offered him a contract and first-team football...Again, not a player who I anticipate spending his entire career here, but like those before him, I imagine Daniel will prove to be a sound investment for the future...
