Meet the De Silva brothers!
With today's appointment by Npower league 2 side Burton Albion of Andre De Silva, football can officially revel at the fact that football now has triplets in charge at clubs around the world. But who are they? what are their pasts in football? Lets find out:
The De Silva Family
Born: 14 February 1988 (26 years old)
Nationality: Spanish/Welsh
Born in: Cardiff
Mattias De Silva
Starting with the oldest (as he so said) is Mattias De Silva, and is the quickest to get into management. He played for Kaiserslauten, currently in the bundesliga 2 in Germany, but never really made it in the big time, mainly playing for the reserves and for the wales B team. He has replaced Kosta Runjaic, who left after an affair with the chairman's wife. Big no no. Mattias says his aim is to take Kaiserslauten back into the bundersliga, and then take Germany by storm. And if he can beat his brother's, then that is just an added bonus.
Filipe De Silva
Felipe says it is the no nonsense style of regional football that will allow him to be a great manager. The middle triplet (according again to Mattias) played primarily for Cardiff based regional side Cardiff Athletic. They were 12 time consecutive regional champions due to the midfield marshalling of De Silva (according to their manager Mr. Scot Land). De Silva says that he cannot wait to win some titles with his new side, as he was recently appointed the manager at PSV Eindhoven.
Andre De Silva
The baby of the family (guess who said this?), Andre says that he wasn't good at playing football. He says that he was just a sunday league player for local pub team The Dragons. He tended to prefer being a manger, saying he played between 40 and 60 hours of football manager a week. He says that he used to manage Burton (how coincedental) and took them once to winning all 7 possible english trophies 4 seasons straight. Today, he says he wants to do this with real Burton.
How will the De Silva family do? Let's find out.
