Hello everyone and welcome to my first story on this site! I'm really excited to begin writing about something I enjoy and something I live for! I have to shoutout the likes of Pompeyblue and Icarus who made me want to write about my FM saves, they really inspired me and honestly are brilliant writers! Anyway.. onto the team I will be managing and a little bit about the club.



The club are, as you can see from the title of this, is Hertha Berlin a club who play in the top division in Germany, also known as the Bundesliga. I'm sure most of you have heard about Berlin, after all they are a successful club, or they were.. Hertha were a founding member of German football and were founded in 1892 since their founding they have won the German Championship twice, once in 1930 and then the following year in 1931. However, they have yet to win a Bundesliga title. Berlin haven't won anything major recently either, the last time they won a cup competition was in the Pokal in 2005. They have won the 2.Bundesliga in 2010 though, after they were relegated from the top division in 2009, finishing rock bottom. Since then Berlin have been relegated again via the play-offs but came straight back up again for the 2012/13 campaign and last season Berlin comfortably finished 11th. Finally onto the manager!



Well then! The manager is Thomas Tuchel who recently came out of retirement to take the vacant Hertha Berlin job. The 41-year-old resigned from 1.FSV Mainz last season after finishing in 7th place with them, guiding them to a place in the UEFA Europa League and surprisingly announced his retirement weeks later, yet the German said that he 'had made a mistake' and soon returned to Football management again, as already mentioned to take the Hertha job.

Hertha Berlin have completed the signing of 18 year old, Jesus Vallejo this morning, but have also seen the departure of Anis Ben-Hatira. The young Spanish centre-back joined for £1.1M from Zaragoza after Berlin matched his release clause. Meanwhile Tunisian winger, Ben-Hatira leaves for £1.8M to Borussia Monchengladbach.


Hertha had been in talks with Vallejo all week to agree a contract which we believe is a 2 year deal. Vallejo and Thomas Tuchel spoke to us regarding the signing, "I'm so happy to be at a wonderful club like Hertha Berlin and I really want to showcase my skills here. I heavily enjoyed life in Spain, but I really look forward to a new chapter of my life here in Germany, I can't wait to meet the crowd here!" Vallejo told us. Tuchel then followed up by saying, "I'm very happy to be able to sit here with Jesus, he's a brilliant player and he's shown he has a lot of potential in Spain. I believe he has what it takes to become one of the worlds best, honestly. I heavily believe in Jesus, I really do, so yeah, I believe it shows that we are ready and that we are ready to build a really good team for the future."


Meanwhile Ben-Hatira has said to have been 'delighted' to leave Hertha after a bust-up with the Hertha Berlin coach over training schedules. "I just found it very stupid and I told the coach my thoughts, I tried my best to impress but I just wasn't happy and once I heard Gladbach were sniffing around it just put a finish to the saga and I asked to leave, the coach accepted and the rest is history, I'm here and ready to enjoy a new life here." The Tunisian had enjoyed a three year stint at Hertha Berlin, helping them to a promotion and an impressive 11th place finish last season.

Berlin have also completed the signing of Serbian youngster, Luka Jovic, however he will not join until the 1st January 2016 due to Serbian youth law.

I always love a good Bundesliga story and Tuchel too!

The Bundesliga season kicked off in style when Hertha Berlin took on UEFA Champions League candidate, Wolfsburg. The game kicked into life from the first whistle in fact when Kevin De Bruyne's shot was well saved by Hertha stopper, Thomas Kraft. But, the chance didn't stop there as the resulting corner was whipped in by Aaron Hunt, which then took a wicked deflection off loanee, Saul who joined just a week before the game and into the back of the net.


However, that just spurred the hosts on to find an equaliser and one came just seven minutes later, Roy Beerens, the Berlin winger, cut inside and stuck a sweet shot into the top corner, which Wolfsburg keeper, Diego Benaglio could only watch fly past him. The goal then set off a barrage of attacks from Hertha, first one from another loanee in Barcelona's Munir was beaten away as was goalscorer Beeren's effort. Then came a quick counter from Die Alte Dame, as Valentin Stocker used all of his past to bomb down the left flank and lay off 28-year-old, Hajime Hasogai who's strike narrowly missed the target.

Wolfsburg remained quiet for the rest of the first half and at the break the score remained 1-1. Yet, as soon as the second half whistle went, Hertha passed the ball round with elegance and eventually swung a ball in from the right hand wing, for Valetin Stocker, a man who had put Wolfsburg under much pressure over the game to head in. Hertha quickly followed up the goal with more attacks, but couldn't find the target until the 76th minute, where Munir, another man who had an impressive game found his way into the box and rolled the ball into the corner.



But, that wasn't the end. First Kevin De Bruyne scored a wonder goal from 35 yards out in the 86th minute and then Aaron Hunt, the man who assisted the first Wolfsburg goal popped up out of nowhere to score a header in the 89th minute to help Wolfsburg to a 3-3 draw. After the game, Hertha manager, Thomas Tuchel said, "This is why I couldn't leave Football. Games like this are games I love and games I will look back at forever. I was very impressed with the display from us out there, however at the end of the game we tired and they took advantage, that's what makes Wolfsburg a great team, they take advantage of situations."

In what was another great match to watch at the Mercedes Benz Arena, Thomas Tuchel's Hertha side took on hosts Stuttgart, a team who had fallen over the years, but felt they could get back on the horse and become a giant in German football again. Stuttgart came into the match having beaten Bayern Leverkusen 1-0 and Hertha came in having a thriller 3-3 draw to Wolfsburg.

The game promised much excitement from the first whistle again, much the case at Berlin as they had shown already how they can start the match quickly and get into the flow of things, as Valentin Stocker struck from just out the box but watched the ball narrowly miss the target and Hertha didn't stop there as just 2 minutes later, Stocker again came close. However, the next time Hertha had a shot on goal, the ball was rustling in the goal, as Salomon Kalou dribbled his way carefully into the box and smashed home the opening goal of the game, just ten minutes in.


From then on, Hertha just continued to attack and tallied up 15 shots on goal within the remaining 35 minutes, 9 of them being on target. Stuttgart couldn't get out of their own half in this time either and failed to threaten Hertha keeper, Thomas Kraft. When the half time whistle went, Tuchel smiled in delight of his team's display so far, meanwhile the opposite can be said for Stuttgart boss, Huub Stevens.

The second half was even better from Hertha Berlin who were playing their hearts out, Stuttgart looked a little sharper going forward and Timo Werner did worry the travelling Berlin fans as he hit a effort just stray of the top left hand corner of the goal. However, Berlin doubled their lead after Kalou found space in the area, turned and casually slotted the ball into the goal, grabbing his second of the game and from then on, the game was well and truly won. Stuttgart did threaten once more later on as Werner again hit one, but right into the hands of Kraft, who was comfortably when he was rarely depended on in the game.


"I'm very disappointed in my team today, it was a dreadful display and I'm ashamed to have played so brilliantly at Leverkusen to then come into this game, at home, in front of all the fans and to have played so badly for them. They didn't deserve this and I'm very sorry for those who had to watch the poor performance we shown," explained Huub Stevens.
