If you have an account on Facebook or on Google, you can promote your story updates there. I have created a Facebook group and a Google+ community for this purpose. Both of them don't have any members and it's mainly up to you to breathe life into them by inviting your FM friends to join and start sharing your updates.
Besides plugging your updates on chat, sharing them on Facebook and Google+ will further increase the reach for your stories. In addition, if you're on Twitter you can obviously tweet your updates there too. By sharing your stories on social media, you're also promoting fmscout so the benefit is two-fold.
