MILLWALL AWAY: POST MATCH

http://cdn.footballleagueworld.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/Millwall-v-Leeds.jpg

Millwall 1 (Gueye pen 81) UNITED 0

Booked: Milwall (Shaun Williams 34)

Sent off: UNITED (Austin 80)

Attendance: 18,392 (2,000 Leeds)

Thoughts: Never really got going in this game, Byram suffered a serious injury early on forcing us to change shape and they got on top. The penalty was a stupid one to give a way, Austin went in two-footed and bagged himself a straight red card. Improvement is a must

CARLISLE HOME (COC): POST MATCH

UNITED 1 (Doukara pen 2) Carlisle 0

Missed pen: Carlisle (Paynter 10)

Booked: UNITED (Berardi 90+1)

Sent off: Carlisle (Potts 69)

Attendance: 9,155

Thoughts: Despite the win, the performance was disappointing although that's probably down to tactics. We set out a 5-3-2 and were perhaps too patient and not clinical enough. Middlesbrough at the weekend should provide a chance to up the tempo.

MIDDLESBROUGH HOME: POST MATCH

http://www.mfc.co.uk.p.preprod.performgroup.com/javaImages/2e/bb/0,,1~9878318,00.jpg

UNITED 3 (Williams 16, Antenucci 26, Ayala OG 54) Middlesbrough 1 (Bamford 27)

Booked: UNITED (Bellusci 17, Cook 32, Bamba 50) Middlesbrough (Whitehead 49)

Sent off UNITED (N'Goyi 22)

Attendance: 26,714

Thoughts: A much improved performance compared to the previous two, but we need to sort our discipline out. Two red cards from our first two league games doesn't bode well. On the positives, it was a good all-action attacking display of football and a match we thoroughly deserved to win

BRIGHTON HOME: POST MATCH

http://www.weallloveleeds.co.uk/uploads/8/8/5/1/8851086/3338138_orig.jpg

UNITED 0 Brighton 2 (Eagles 6, Mackail-Smith 54)

Booked: UNITED (Bellusci 86, Berardi 90+1) Brighton (Holla 54, Teixeira 62, Crofts 63, Calderon 80)

Attendance: 25,182

Thoughts: A poor performance and pretty lacklustre compared to the Middlesbrough game. Both goals came from sloppy mistakes and we never looked like getting into the game

WATFORD AWAY: POST MATCH

Watford 5 (Deeney 10, 85 Vydra 28 Ighalo 31 Murray 72) UNITED 1 (Williams 22)

Booked: Watford (Layun 39 Munari 48 Savic 87) UNITED (Bellusci 84 Williams 90+1)

Attendance: 15,877

Thoughts: See bollocking below

http://i1.examiner.co.uk/incoming/article7695537.ece/ALTERNATES/s1227b/JS45109278.jpg

The bollocking

The lads trundle into the dressing room, heads dropped and shouting at each other. They know exactly what's coming. I follow them in so that I'm the last in. I slam the door shut behind me and prepare to give the bollocking of a lifetime.

"Well?" dead silence descends on the room as I pause.

"Anyone have an explanation? An explanation as to how 14 (including subs used) professionals paid thousands each week to play football lost 5-1 to fucking Watford!? Marco, you didn't seem too happy when you were taken off in the first half, you want my explanation? Three gifts to their strikers. Two empty nets and I've no idea how the fuck you spilled the third. Beppe, Sol, open your fucking eyes! You looked like you were guessing where the ball was. Every long ball you aimlessly jumped for with such inherent lack of timing just let them in behind you time and time again.

IT'S NOT FUCKING GOOD ENOUGH BOYS. THIS IS A PROUD CLUB WITH HIGH EXPECTATIONS AND YOU FELL SHORT TODAY. I EXPECT MUCH FUCKING BETTER ON TUESDAY"

I leave the dressing room and slam the door behind me. I head out to the coach to tell the driver I won't be travelling back to Leeds with the squad, and instead I take a train home, so that I can leave the players alone to ponder their thoughts and think about their unacceptable incompetence all the way up the M1

SWANSEA AWAY (COC): POST MATCH

http://www.weloveswansea.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2015/01/Swansea_City_AFC_logo.svg_.pnghttp://logos-vector.com/images/logo/lar/4/3/3/43311/Leeds_United_AFC_f6333_250x250.png

Swansea City 1 (Rayos 5) UNITED 2 (Antenucci 35, 105)

Booked: Swansea City (Adam 26 Hanley 106) UNITED (Berardi 31 Cook 74)

Sent off: UNITED (Berardi 84)

Attendance: 16,228

Thoughts: I demanded a reaction tonight and boy did I get it. We took a while to acclimatise to playing against a team that plays with such intensity and we were unlucky to concede a goal in the process. Once we put our stamp on the game we dominated the game in a way in which I could never imagine. We beat them at their own game, sticking to them like a disease off-the-ball and passing them to death on it. I was equally impressed with how we coped with the sending off, Bellusci did a sterling job slotting in at right-back and won man of the match at the end. An impressive performance all-round, let's hope for more of the same against Bolton on Saturday.

BOLTON HOME: POST MATCH

http://logos-vector.com/images/logo/lar/4/3/3/43311/Leeds_United_AFC_f6333_250x250.pnghttp://www.saintsweb.co.uk/images/saintsweb/teams/1264185460-bolton-wanderers.jpg

UNITED 1 (Antenucci pen 50) Bolton Wanderers 0

Booked: UNITED (Bianchi 20 Alborno 41 Bellusci 45 Austin 85) Bolton (Ream 69)

Attendance: 27,412

Thoughts: Not really a game we deserved to win but neither did Bolton. The penalty was lucky and it probably should have been a draw but we'll never say no to three points. The international break should give us time to work on a few things ahead of our trip to Birmingham.

Table

Board meeting

The last day of every month is my day at the office. It would be easier had the office space at Thorp Arch not been sold, but this is the way things are. My office is at the ground, a good 30-45 minute drive from the training ground. I don't have an inside-stadium view either, instead I spend my office days looking over Lowfields Road and up the M621.

As I daydream looking towards town, my phone rings. It's my secretary, Stuart Hayton.

"Mr Cellino wants to see you in the boardroom"

I oblige, put the phone down, leave my office and head for the boardroom which incidentally, does have an in-stadium view, although you have to stand up and look down as it's in the upper section of the East Stand which sits above the rest of the ground.

I step into the boardroom to find Salem Patel, Salah Nooruddin, Edoardo Cellino and Massimo Cellino waiting for me. Massimo points to a chair and says "Please, take a seat Josh"

"What can I do for you gents?" I ask with a nervous smile.

"We just wanted to sit with you to review your performance over the past month" Massimo begins.

Salah Nooruddin is first to pipe up. "Josh, I'm going to start with the negatives and there aren't a lot, I just want us to finish this meeting on a high. I'd just like to point out the defeats against Millwall, Brighton and Watford. The Millwall game, was a poor start to the season, the team didn't play well and were punished as a result. The Brighton game I'll skip but the Watford defeat was abysmal and I want to hear your explanation"

I had a feeling the 5-1 thumping at Watford would be brought up, and this is where I get really nervous "They outclassed us on the day, but if I'm being honest, the effort from the players was non-existent. I won't make excuses, it was a poor performance, but I made my feelings clear to the team and I'm happy with the way things have gone since then"

"That's all I have to say" says Salah. Massimo is next to address me.

"Here we go with the positives. The cup win against Swansea was excellent and I hope the team will continue this form when we play Wigan in the third round. Rodrigo Alborno seems to be playing well, so well done for finding him and getting him on our side. Mirco Antenucci has been playing well for us as well, so whatever it is you're doing with him keep up the good work.

I think that's everything that needs to be addressed for this month, anyone have anything they'd like to add?"

There follows a silence and the President wraps up the meeting.

"Thank you very much for your time Josh, we'll see you next month in here for our review of September"

"Not a problem, and thank you all for taking time out of your busy schedules to discuss football"

BIRMINGHAM AWAY: POST MATCH

http://i4.birminghammail.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/article2819958.ece/ALTERNATES/s615/Blues-v-Leeds.jpg

Birmingham City 1 (Zigic pen 57) UNITED 2 (Bueno 24 Antenucci 50)

Booked: Birmingham (Davis 20 Grounds 65) UNITED (Austin 1 Bamba 13 Taylor 19 Bianchi 23 Bellusci 81)

Sent off: UNITED (Austin 22)

Attendance: 16,392

Thoughts: We played pretty well in this game although we let our guard slip in the latter stages of the game. I found it very encouraging that we managed to grind out the result and I hope we carry this form in midweek when we visit table toppers Bournemouth.

BOURNEMOUTH AWAY: POST MATCH

Bournemouth 2 (Fraser 45 Pitman 77) UNITED 3 (Morison pen 25 Bueno 32 Bamba 54)

Booked: Bournemouth (Daniels 41 Ritchie 84) UNITED (Del Fabro 19 Bianchi 31 Bamba 37 Berardi 42 Bueno 63 N'Goyi 83 Cook 90+1)

Attendance: 11,853

Thoughts: A very strong and pleasing away showing against table toppers. Slightly worrying lack of discipline with the yellow cards but in general, I was satisfied with the way we seemed to dominate from start to finish.

Thanks for all the support guys, really appreciate it

HUDDERSFIELD HOME: POST MATCH

http://i3.examiner.co.uk/incoming/article7708399.ece/ALTERNATES/s615/LidsTown.jpg

UNITED 2 (Bueno 3 Morison 11) Huddersfield Town 1 (Vaughan 61)

Booked: UNITED (N'Goyi 10 Alborno 76 Williams 80) Huddersfield (Coady 33 Butterfield 78)

Attendance: 34,696

Thoughts: Despite having played Bournemouth, I had this down as our biggest test so far due to the crowd it would attract. It was a fantastic performance and a win which we thoroughly deserved. It was pleasing to see Danilo Bueno continue his improvement in form as well as seeing Steve Morison silence the critics once again.

WIGAN HOME (COC): POST MATCH

http://www.mbileeds.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/leedsvswigan-450x225.jpg

UNITED 2 (Bueno 2 Williams 58) Wigan Athletic 1 (Clarke 64)

Booked: UNITED (Bueno 24)

Sent off: UNITED (Berardi 79)

Attendance: 26,184

Thoughts: Another good solid performance and it's great to see yet another win. It's great to see that as well as doing well in the league, we're also enjoying a good cup run. Discipline still seem to be a problem however with the sending off of Berardi and it's something we need to work on.
