A statement released late on Sunday on Ajax's website read: "After a series of poor professional decisions in the past few months, the club's leadership and board of directors have decided to dismiss head coach Frank De Boer.
"Frankhas done a lot for the team and his name will forever be associated with the success Ajax has achieved over the past few seasons.
"Under his leadership, many new glorious pages in Ajax's history have been written, and fans will never forget winning four titles in a row.
"Unfortunately, after deciding to declare interest in numerous jobs around Europe, Ajax's trust in De Boer have deteriorated notably, and neither the fans nor the club's leadership are satisfied with having a manager in charge who does not want to be here.
"In the meantime, Ajax has the task of getting ready for the new season, with their first pre season match only 7 days away.
"The club thanks Mr De Boer and will move on."
Youth team manager Dennis Bergkamp will take temporary charge of first-team affairs until a replacement is found.
