Nesta to start managerial career
Where will Nesta end up?
Alessandro Nesta has announced that he will begin a career in football management. He retired from professional football at the end of 2013, and his only other involvement was to play one game in the newly formed Indian Super League. Nest, who made 78 appearances for the Italian national team, has supposedly struggled with life away from football. In a short statement, Nesta had this to say:
"Football has always been a huge part of my life, from when I joined Lazio at the age of 9, right up until I retired a couple of years ago. I have struggled to decide what I want to do now that I have quit, and I have enjoyed spending time with my family. But even now, my kids are nine and seven, so they maybe don't need me as much as when they were little. It is for this reason that I am announcing my desire to begin a journey into football management."
So far, Nesta is favourite to take over at both Milan, where he spent 10 years, and at Montreal Impact in Canada, where he finished his career. Milan have suffered a torrid time over the last two years, and fellow Milan teammates Clarence Seedorf and Pippo Inzaghi have struggled. Montreal want to continue to expand in the MLS, and poaching a high profile manager may be just the way to help advance their club and their league. Lazio are also said to be interested in Nesta, but Stefano Piolo is widely expected to sign a contract within the next few days.
