My life had been such a rollercoaster looking back and it's hard to understand how I got through it all. One day would be hell and the next was the complete opposite, life is a strange thing and it's about learning, that's something I did, a lot of learning and that's why I'm here, here as the Estonia National Team manager. While others may of been partying after leaving Secondary School, Collage and University, I was sat waiting for my results to come, but while I did, I worked hard to achieve a life long goal in becoming a manager for a Football Team. I scoured the Internet for tips on 'How To Become A Successful Manager' and read books written by the likes of Brian Clough and other top managers that the world has seen. Eventually, my results came back and I'm proud to say I did very well! I got lots of A* and the lowest grade I got was on my Maths, that being a B. I was told English and Maths were rather important in being a manager, so I'm confident that I'm qualified enough now!
For the past 3 years, I have been taking coaching badges, to improve my chances of landing a job I will enjoy, a job in the Premier League, a job in La Liga, you know, the leagues every boy who dreams of being a manager or player would like to be a part of. After all the hard work I put in, I finally managed to obtain my Continental Pro License and I knew that this is where my life was about to begin. Fast forward 14 months from the day I got that prestigous badge, I was sat in multiple interview rooms for the likes of Derby County, Eibar, Boavista and many more, but I didn't get the job. I was heartbroken everytime I was rejected because it felt like I wasn't good enough. However, I then got offered the chance to be manager of Estonia, a country in Europe who borders Russia and are a part of England's Group E European Championship Qualification Group.
I was shocked. Shocked for many reasons, why would a country, no matter how big or small would just offer me a job, without an interview? I know what people must of been thinking when I told them, "It's got to be fake?" No, it wasn't. It was genuine. I replied back from the letter I received and obviously in that letter it said, "Of course, it would be an honour." So now fast forward to the present and now, I am just a week away from managing Estonia in a fixture against another European minnow in Moldova and after that.. well, I play San Marino in a European Qualifier.. I just can't believe I'm saying that.
