Crewe Hire Elkes As Manager

Today Crewe Alexandra announced Jamie Elkes as manager after long discussions with previous manager Steve Davies the Crewe Board decided to go in a different direction. Crewe chairman told the clubs official website: "I felt we needed a change and go back to our roots of bring talent through the youth system and picking up gems that have a profitable sell on value". Crewes new manager Elkes is a rookie in the managerial world but the crewe chairman felt Elkes was the man to carry the club forward to new heights, "Elkes was far more an attractive propersition than the other candidates he has an attacking mentality that will install confidence into our younger players and encourage them to express themselves".


Elkes was unavailable for comment at the press conference but will appear to the media in the forseeable future once his backroom team have been confirmed.


This morning journalists gathered as Jamie Elkes before the press for the very first time after being announced as manager of Crewe Alexandra Football Club amongst the questions from the journalists were about the long term ambition of the club and Elkes gave his response: "My aim for this football club is to take them to new heights while keeping the philosophies of attacking football and breeding youth players through the system i aim to build a team of experience and youth to take to the bigger leagues but for now our aim is to play without expectations and express ourselves". Another hot topic was transfers and Elkes was open about the targets he had in mind: "we have a few irons in the fire at the moment and hope they come off, we have a few areas we need to strenghten and we look to make anouncements in the next few days".

Rachubka Signs For Crewe

A familiar face showed up at Crewe today with former goakeeper Paul Rachubka resigning for the alex on a 1 year contract Elkes was delighted to get his man: "I am delighted to bring Paul back to the club he will be invaluable to the younger keepers and pass on his advice and experience".

it will be interesting to see how the goalkeeper will fit in at Crewe with focus very much on the youth set up at the Alexandra Stadium.
