Match Stats

Match Info
Wolverhampton's new manager Sean-Paul Lodovico couldn't save the team against a rampant West Bromwich Albion, going down 4-1 in the Black Country Derby and extending their winless streak to 12 games in a row. Graham Dorrans starred on the right wing for the Baggies, scoring and assisting a goal, whilst 17 year old Craig Kent scored his first every pro goal in the 89th minute.

It took just 7 minutes for West Brom to hit the front, hitting Wolves on a devastating counter which ended in a fantastic strike from Graham Dorrans. Saido Berahino laid off a simple through ball for the right winger to run onto but Dorrans did most of the work, scorching past 3 defenders before chipping it into the top left corner.

West Brom's reputation as a dangerous team from deadballs was reiterated just after the half hour mark, with Donervan Daniels rising above Richard Stearman to tuck home a powerful header. Poor judgement from the Wolves centre back gave Daniels an easy route to the goal.

Wolves found themselves in the deep end after conceding another goal, just 2 minutes after the second. Dorrans made a great run down the right wing, delivering an inch-perfect cross to the feet of Saido Berahino who managed to squeeze it between the keeper and the near post. It was perhaps repayment for Berahino's assist earlier but on both occasions Graham Dorrans did most of the work.

In the twilight of the match, Zeli Ismail rescued a shred of dignity for his hapless Wolves side, creating a more respectable scoreline of 3-1. It was a brilliant team goal, with a string of passes finishing off with a classy backheel by Nicklas Helenius, putting Ismail in a prime position to score.

Despite scoring a goal, the Wolves defence were as vulnerable as ever as they conceded yet another goal to finish off the match. 17 year old pacy striker Craig Kent, in just his third pro game, pulled off a terrific first touch strike which would have beaten just about any goalie in the world. Receiving a pass from Fletcher, he powered it into the bottom left corner without the ball leaving the ground for a memorable first goal.

After this commanding win, West Brom have moved up into 2nd and continue to challenge Reading for the title spot. Meanwhile Wolves have dropped into 24th, with a record of 0-4-8, and newly appointed manager Sean-Paul Lodovico will have a task on his hand to rescue the team that looks destined for relegation.
