Manchester City put together an impressive pre-season, winning every game against some decent competition.

Lokomotiv Moscow striker Baye Oumar Niasse caused quite a bit of trouble, but goals from Fernandinho and Vincent Kompany saw ensured a 2-1 victory. FC Twente played quite poorly in a comfortable 2-0 victory for the Citizens.

In the next match, Manchester City came away with a 3-1 victory against an Al-Jazira side featuring former Juventus striker Mirko Vucinic and former Schalke winger Jefferson Farfan. In their final match of the pre-season, Wilfried Bony scored two goals in Manchester City’s victory over Hong Kong side Kitchee.

Injury Report

Fabian Delph

After missing the entire pre-season, Delph will still be out of action for between one to two months with a hamstring injury.

Two big fixtures within the first month with matches against Arsenal and Liverpool in what will be an early indication of how the teams measure up against each other.

Matches against West Bromwich Albion and Sunderland shouldn’t be overlooked but it should be expected that Manchester City picks up victories against both sides.

With an almost completely fit squad, Manchester City will be hoping to get their 2015/16 campaign off to a terrific start.
A very nicely laid out update :) good pre-season, although not exactly testing. Tough start to the league though with games against Arsenal and Liverpool, you need to win those to send out a title warning! :)

Title Odds: 5-2

Board Expectations

Barclays Premier League: Win The Premier Division

Goalkeepers

The ever-present Joe Hart remains the first choice goalkeeper for both club and country, a role he is expected to fill for many years to come.

http://s105.photobucket.com/user/chrisgriffin89/media/e098fb27-b3fa-49f1-a799-911eea82a5f1_zpso0vv3eyh.jpg.html
The experienced Joe Hart will once again be between the sticks for Manchester City

Willy Caballero is a more than capable back up but with Manchester City struggling for home grown players in their senior squad, replacing him with a home grown player would get them closer to meeting the requirements.

Richard Wright provides additional cover but at 37 years of age he will need to be replaced in the not too distant future.

Defenders

At the heart of the Manchester City defence is captain Vincent Kompany, who since his arrival from Hamburg in 2008 has developed into one of the best centre backs in the world. Joining him this season is the Argentinian Nicolas Otamendi who will bolster the defensive forces of the club this season.

In need of some reinforcements in defence, Nicolas Otamendi joins Manchester City from Valencia

Eliaquim Mangala, who is a strong physical presence at the back, will need to develop the other aspects of his game as he develops in order to become a world class defender. Martin Demichelis will provide cover throughout the season but at 34 he is nearing the end of his career.

Fan favourite Pablo Zabaleta is one of the first picked for Manchester City with the Argentinian establishing himself as one of the best fullbacks in the world. Providing cover at right back is the former Arsenal player Bacary Sagna.

On the left side we see players of fairly equal ability in Gael Clichy and Aleksander Kolarov. Clichy possesses greater pace and acceleration in the position whereas Kolarov can put quality crosses into the box and provide an attacking threat from left back. It will be interesting to see which way Manuel Pellegrini goes in regards to this position.

Midfielders

The middle of the pitch has been the greatest strength in the recent history of Manchester City, something that the club is clearly looking to maintain with some new additions coming in during the latest transfer window.

Yaya Toure is the main player in the central midfield, a player who is next to unstoppable on his day. Supporting him is the hard working Fernandinho who has proven himself the most consistent player at the club over the past two seasons. Providing cover in the midfield Is the Brazilian Fernando and the recently acquired Fabian Delph who is arriving after putting in some quality performances for Aston Villa.

One of the most notable qualities the Manchester City squad has it their wingers and attacking midfielders have the ability to play in all three positions. The highest rated English prospect Raheem Sterling joins the club from Liverpool, the right winger joining after a lot of drama regarding his transfer in the off season. Backing him up is Jesus Navas who doesn’t offer the versatility that his counterparts do but his blinding pace and acceleration can provide a great impact. A third right winger is in the Manchester City squad in the 18-year-old Patrick Roberts who appears to have great potential after joining the club from Fulham.

On the left wing, the recently signed Kevin De Bruyne has the ability to provide his teammates with goal scoring opportunities, which is sure to increase the strength of the Manchester City side this season. His signing has seen Samir Nasri fall back in the pecking order at the club, although Nasri is still expected to feature heavily this season.

David Silva, who created 91 chances last season will be once again be the club’s attacking midfielder. Heading into his sixth season, he continues to be rated highly with Manchester City legend Colin Bell even proclaiming him to be the best player to ever to play for the club.

Forwards

Despite concerns about his durability, Sergio Aguero remains one of the top ten players in the world. After his most impressive year in the Premier League last season, Aguero will be hoping to stay healthy and take his game to an even higher level.

http://s105.photobucket.com/user/chrisgriffin89/media/sergio_zpsta1hi8v2.jpg.html
Once again, the key player for Manchester City this season will be Sergio Aguero

If Aguero is not able to stay on the field, a lot of pressure will be placed on Wilfred Bony. After a poor start, Bony will need to recapture the form he had during his time at Swansea City in order to not only see Manchester City succeed but also in order to stay in Manchester himself.

The third striker in the squad is 18-year-old Nigerian Kelechi Iheanacho who is yet to make his Premier League debut. His promotion to the senior squad has seen many critics question the depth of players up front heading into the season.

Prospects

Apart from Patrick Roberts and Kelechi Iheanacho who have been thrusted into the senior squad due to squad registration rules and the highly valued Raheem Sterling, there are only a few prospects at Manchester City worth noting.

Scouts believe Norwegian keeper Christian Kjetil Haug will be the player to take the place of Joe Hart once he retires with Joe Hart himself tutoring the 16-year-old.

Manchester City has two centre back prospects worth noting. Belgian Jason Denayer was expected by fans to be in the senior squad this season before going on loan to Galatasaray. Cameron Humphreys will spend time developing with the academy team while being tutored by Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany. 18-year-old Nigerian right back Chidiebere Nwakali is currently on loan at Girona in LIGA Adelante with scouts believing he will develop into a similar player to current Manchester City player Bacary Sagna.

http://s105.photobucket.com/user/chrisgriffin89/media/brahim20diaz_zpstttsdjh2.jpg.html
Brahim Diaz has been dubbed the “new Messi” by Manchester City fans

Spanish attacking midfielder Brahim Diaz is the best prospect in the club with scouts predicting he has the ability to develop into a world class player, he is currently being tutored by fellow Spanish attacking midfielder David Silva. 18-year-old right winger Oliver Ntcham who is on loan at Genoa for the season looks to have potential but will face an uphill battle making the senior squad with Raheem Sterling and Patrick Roberts rated ahead of him.

The biggest weakness in the Manchester City elite development squad and academy is a lack of strikers. The lack of depth in this position in all three squads is an issue that the club must look to address.
Great overview, the squad is looking great with those new additions :D

Manchester City put together an impressive start to the season after picking up ten of a possible twelve points in August.

In their first match of the season a brace from Sergio Aguero saw Manchester City come away with a 3-2 victory against West Bromwich Albion. After falling behind in the match against Arsenal, Fernandinho managed to secure a late equaliser to see the sides share the points.

Later in the month, City began to find form. Goals from David Silva and Sergio Aguero saw the side victorious over Liverpool and then they went on to defeat Sunderland 3-0 to end the month thanks to a terrific performance from Aleksander Kolarov.

After being identified as the key to a successful campaign for Manchester City this season, Sergio Aguero has got off to a terrific start. Aguero has scored five goals in four games, scoring in every game during the month including a brace against West Bromwich Albion in the opening week of the Barclays Premier League.

Much to the surprise of many, it is Tottenham and Leicester City who are on top currently. Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy has been the best player in the competition so far, scoring 10 goals in 4 matches.

Equally as shocking is the performances of both Liverpool and Everton who have both only managed to secure one point from four matches. Things do not appear to be getting better for Liverpool as they are next scheduled to face Arsenal with Alexis Sanchez in tremendous form for the Gunners.

Manchester City have been given a reasonable group after the UEFA Champions League draw. Paris Saint-Germain will prove their main rival as they will face players such as Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Angel Di Maria.

Portuguese side Sporting CP may prove a stumbling block and complete for qualification through to the next round with FC Red Bull Salzburg not expected to make much of an impact in the group.

In perhaps the best UEFA Champions League related news for Manchester City fans, rivals Manchester United failed to qualify for the group stage after going down to AS Monaco in the playoffs.

First up in the Capital One Cup for Manchester City is Sky Bet League 1 side Peterborough who City should have no issues in defeating. Expect Manuel Pellegrini to rest a majority of his starting line up in this fixture.

Injury Report

Fabian Delph

Fabian Delph is get to play a match in a Manchester City jersey, he is still trying to return from a hamstring injury suffered before the first game of the pre-season. He may possibly make a return in the middle of September but could continue to be out of action with Delph expected to miss two to five weeks.

In September we see the schedule for Manchester City begin to fill up due to the UEFA Champions League and the Capital One Cup. After the international break, Manchester City play six games in eighteen days. Despite this, they do not have the hardest of schedules with league matches against sides who are not considered title threats and a cup tie against Sky Bet League 1 side Peterborough.

The main challenge Manchester City will face is in the first fixture of their UEFA Champions League campaign against Primeira Liga side Sporting CP in Portugal. Austrian side FC Red Bull Salzburg travel to Manchester in the last fixture of the month.
Good results man. Your Champions League group looks exciting

I was at that game where Delph did his hamstring. Hilarious start to his Man City career. This was cool, I like when people incorporate actual player photos instead of just screenshots. Maybe grab a logo pack to take it to the next level? Look forward to the next update though.

The good form for Manchester City continued into September with the side winning every game they played in. The month started with a 4-2 victory over Stoke in a match where Stoke went down a player early due to a two footed challenge from Marco van Ginkel, Raheem Sterling then scored twice to seal the victory.

After going down a goal early, Manchester City fought back to defeat Sporting CP 2-1 with Sergio Aguero and Raheem Sterling getting on the scoresheet. Raheem Sterling continued his terrific form against Watford by scoring two goals in a 4-1 victory with Fernandinho also scoring twice. In the Capital One Cup, Manchester City cruised to a 3-1 victory with Peterborough only scoring in the final minutes of the game.

Despite a man of the match performance from Diafra Sakho who scored twice, Manchester City defeated West Ham 4-2. In the final fixture of the month, Manchester City demolished FC Red Bull Salzburg with Samir Nasri scoring a goal and providing two assists and Wilfried Bony finding the back of the net twice.

Raheem Sterling

New signing Raheem Sterling has put together some impressive performances, scoring six goals and providing two assists in five games this month. His performances have seen him awarded the English Premier League Player of the Month for September.

Special mention goes to Fernandinho who was the runner up for the English Premier League Player of the Month award after the midfielder controlled the middle of the park for Manchester City while also contributing three goals.

Manchester City find themselves on the top of the table with Arsenal trailing them by two points, both sides remain the only undefeated teams in the league.

Liverpool and Everton continue to struggle at the bottom of the table, putting pressure on both Jurgen Klopp and Roberto Martinez to retain their managerial positions. Both clubs have an easier schedule in October so they may return to form over the course of the month.

After a perfect start to their UEFA Champions League campaign, Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester City will play each other for the first time on the 20th of October at Parc des Princes.

Both sides will be fighting it out to finish on top of the group in order to reduce their chances of drawing a tough opponent in the round of 16.

After defeated Peterborough, Manchester City has drawn Sky Bet Championship side Brentford in the Capital One Cup 4th Round. Brentford defeated Cambridge United, Fulham and West Bromwich Albion to make the 4th Round.

Injury Report

Kevin De Bruyne

During the UEFA Champions League game against FC Red Bull Salzburg, Kevin De Bruyne suffered a bruised thigh forcing him off the field. He is expected to be unavailable for the next few days and may miss the English Premier League fixture against Bournemouth.

Patrick Roberts

New signing Patrick Roberts, who is yet to make his debut for Manchester City suffered an injury while playing for the England Under 21s. Roberts dislocated his shoulder and is expected to be out of action for five to seven weeks.

In October, the schedule for Manchester City increases in strength with a fixture against fierce rivals Manchester United in the English Premier League. In the UEFA Champions League, Manchester City face Paris Saint-Germain who are currently equal on points with City at the top of the group.

Manchester City will hope there is no upset on the cards when they face Brentford in the Capital One Cup as they look to capture their first trophy for the season. At the end of the month, Manchester City face Tottenham with the Spurs in good form lately despite not having Harry Kane available due to a broken ankle.
