Manchester City started October in tremendous fashion by defeating Bournemouth 5-1 with striker Sergio Aguero completing a hat-trick. Next up, Manchester City took on their bitter rivals Manchester United in the Manchester derby. Anthony Martial opened the scoring in the 18th minute and despite Manchester United controlling a majority of the match, Sergio Aguero levelled the score for Manchester City to see both sides share the points.
Paris Saint-Germain was next up for Manchester City to determine who took control of Group H, a brace from Kevin De Bruyne saw City come away with a dominant 3-1 victory. After cruising to a 2-0 victory over Aston Villa, City then defeated Brentford to advance to the Capital One Cup quarter finals.
To finish the month, Manchester City defeated Tottenham 4-3 in a spectacular game which saw Raheem Sterling scoring in the 78th minute to seal the victory and complete his hat-trick.
After putting together a terrific month of results, Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini was rewarded by being named the Manager of the Month for October.
Despite not being in the starting side for a majority of the season, Samir Nasri has won the Player of the Month award for October. After a minor injury to Kevin De Bruyne and player rotation being required due to a crowded fixture schedule, Nasri found himself in the starting line up and he didn’t disappoint.
Nasri managed to put together a number of key passes and made some vital interceptions, as well as scoring two goals and providing two assists. After such great performances, it will be interesting to see if Manuel Pellegrini adjusts his line-up.
Manchester City remain on top of the table and undefeated, increasing the distance between themselves and second placed Chelsea. Leicester City continue to play well above expectations, currently sitting in third.
At the bottom of the table, Liverpool and Everton showed improved form but remain at the bottom of the table after Bournemouth’s surprise 2-0 victory over Arsenal. Aston Villa may soon slip into the relegation zone as they are yet to gain a point in six consecutive fixtures.
Manchester City dominated Paris Saint-Germain in the fixture between the top two sides of the group. They play again in the return fixture in Manchester City’s first fixture in November. A victory for Manchester City should all but seal top spot in the group.
Later in the month, Manchester City faces Sporting CP who will be looking to get revenge after losing 2-1 in the first match between the two sides.
A 3-1 victory over Brentford sees Manchester City advance to the quarter finals of the Capital One Cup where they are scheduled to face Sky Bet Championship side Wolverhampton Wolves.
Kenny Jackett’s side has had an impressive run in the tournament so far, defeating two English Premier League sides in Sunderland and Liverpool on their way to this match.

Injury Report
Bacary Sagna
During a English Premier League game against Bournemouth, Sagna suffered a hip injury. He missed a majority of October and is still expected to miss four to six more weeks.
Patrick Roberts
New signing Patrick Roberts is still recovering from a dislocated shoulder, an injury which occurred while playing for the England Under 21s. Roberts is expected to return in two weeks.
Richard Wright
The 37-year-old goalkeeper suffered in training, he is expected to be fit within a week.
Paris Saint-Germain visits the City of Manchester Stadium in the first fixture of the month in a vital fixture for Group H in the UEFA Champions League. Manchester City then faces Everton who have struggled in the league so far, currently sitting at the bottom of the table.
After a fixture against 10th placed Newcastle, Manchester City take on Sporting CP. The month finishes with a clash against Chelsea in a match between the two title favourites at the start of the season.
