On a run
Kapfenberg – Wacker Innsbruck
We arrived full of confidence due to our great form. Although we had to take an injury blow as Riemann and Pichlmann injured themselves in training this week, everybody believed in a win. But the game wasn’t as we expected. Kapfenberg had their chances, we had our chances but both haven’t had the killer instinct. We missed Pichlmann more than we expected. The game ended in a fair 0-0 draw. Not a good game but a point is a point.
Austria Lustenau – Wacker Innsbruck
After the draw a few days ago, we wanted to give the fans something back with a win in the “little Westderby”. Many fans made their way once again and I think they liked what they saw. We controlled the game and then scored just before half-time. Pichlmann was back in the starting-eleven and headed in a Hamzic cross brilliantly.

The goal really killed them as they thought that the game would go into half-time with a draw. They weren’t focused anymore and so we doubled our lead within three minutes though a Freitag strike from the edge of the box. We went into half-time and I knew that this game was already won. Lustenau’s moral was down and so we haven’t had a problem to score the third just after half time as the Hamzic – Pichlmann combo struck again. Although they scored just before the end, our fans were happy with us and so we celebrated together until long after the game.
These moments with the fans are the moments you are waiting for, as a coach and as a player.
Wacker Innsbruck – Liefering
With Pichlmann being injured again, I was a bit worried that we would fail to score as our alternative strikers haven’t found their scoring boots yet. Luckily, Riemann was back and he ended my worries early on. A perfect free-kick touched the head of defender Deutschmann and went into the goal. This early goal was what we needed as we were able to control the game and the ball without having to get a goal.
The first half ended 1-0 but the second started with 2-0. We got a corner only 20 seconds into the second half. Riemann brought it in and found the head of Deutschmann – again. The game was won, I was sure about that. And I wasn’t wrong about that but I was wrong about my alternative striker Hirschhofer. He picked out a brilliant run and ended it in style after an hour. This easy win was really what we needed after the last stressful weeks. A few young players got some playing time after our third goal and I was happy with their performances as well.
We are eight games without a defeat now, are we unbeatable?
