Debenham replaces Allen at Barnet
Following the recent departure of Barnet manager Martin Allen due to personal reason, it has been confirmed that young Barnet fan Lloyd Debenham has taken his place as Head Coach of Barnet Football Club.
The youngster already has a great amount of coaching experience, coaching at the youth set-up of Hertfordshire based St Albans City FC and is well known for his innovative drills and the enthusiasm he delivers his sessions with, and has top motivational skills.
“Giving him the job is a risk” the Chairman Tony Kleantous admitted, “but when you see him coaching and sit down and have a long three hour chat about football, you just know he’s the right man to hire. He’s been watching the club for years as a supporter and knows what style of football the fans want to see”
Debenham has a signed a short term contract until the end of the season where he will lead Barnet in their first season back in the Football League following promotion last season as champions of the Vanarama Conference – finishing one point ahead of Bristol Rovers.
“I want to bring success back to this club” Debenham revealed, “the fans here are very passionate and loyal to their club. Yes, more fans could be coming but since changing stadiums some have been reluctant to travel the further six miles. My job is to bring them back by initiating a style of high tempo football, played on the ground – proper quality football”
When questioned about his plans for the summer transfer window, he said: “That is business that will be discussed by myself and the chairman. From the first training session I took this morning, it is evident we have some talented players and Martin (Allen) has already brought in some good players. Whether we want to add to that is something we will dwell on as pre-season progresses”
“If we do a piece of business, you’ll be the first to know” claimed the new gaffer. Debenham is set to begin his campaign in pre-season next Saturday and it will be interesting to see the philosophy he tries to develop at the club.
