You might have noticed that pictures hosted on imgur will show up as broken on fmscout these last few days. It appears that imgur has blocked fmscout and this causes all pictures hosted there to not show when embedded directly here but they're not deleted and can be accessed as normal on their own (either via lightbox or via direct link outside our domain).
I'm guessing that the reason for that is they now think (?) we're using imgur as a cdn to serve image content here instead of hosting it locally. No idea why now and not 2 years ago. Also it makes no sense to block a site because users hosted their screenshots there. And why would they offer options for direct link and several thumbnail sizes in the first place?
Anyway, I have to say I'm disappointed because I've been using imgur for over 2 years now and I always recommended their service to our community to upload their screenshots for downloads and stories. This is the sole use we had for imgur: to store screenshots and easily embed them here with the ease of their auto-generated thumbnails in various sizes.
Even though I've contacted their support people today, I don't really expect a positive outcome. Therefore I'll be trying to move to a local server all the pictures which are posted on fmscout and hosted on imgur. And obviously I'll stop recommending imgur to store screenshots for your story threads in the forums.
