Watford Announce Jay DeMerit as Head Coach

In a surprising turn of events, Watford have announced former captain Jay DeMerit as Head Coach at the club on a one year contract. This follows the news that current Watford Manager Quique Sánchez Flores has stepped down for personal reasons after only a couple of days at the club.

While Jay Demerit is surely interested in bringing in young Americans to the first team at the club, it is though his main transfer philosophy is to bring in a large amount of young players between the ages of 18-25.

After speaking in his first interview at the club he said: "I am ready for the challenge ahead: Watford have a good team, supportive owners and are a good blank canvas for me to work with."

When asked if he would be spending the transfer funds available he responded with: "I am certainly interested in couple of players, we need one or two attacking midfield options and a couple of other options. So of course I am interested."

More news to follow shortly.

DeMerit Happy with Strong Squad

Watford's new manager seems pleased to have taken over a squad of such quality, although suggesting that he want's 'one or two' new players to add to the squad. "I beleive that we are in a good position right now, although we are feeling a little bit weak in the attacking portions of the pitch."

When asked for specific name's, DeMerit responded saying: "We hold an interest in Will Hughes, Loic Remy and Jefferson Montero".

Watford are also though to be looking at Bentancur, Balanta and new goalkeeper, but nothing formal has been announced yet.

Watford have Inconsistent Pre-Season as 6 Sign

Watford's Pre-Season campaign began with them loosing in a disappointing behind closed doors friendly against the U21 team, a couple of days later the team went on to beat Wimbledon in the Football Manager Cup 2-1. Following this a 0-3 loss at home to Zurich, and a 3-1 win against Viktoria Plzen. This goes on to Watford's final loss of the pre-season against Stade Brestois 29, with DeMerit's team going on to boss the games against Harrow and Wealdstone and win 2-1 against Bradford City.

Meanwhile off the pitch Watford strengthened multiple positions, below is a breakdown of each transfer and the manager, Jay Demerit, thoughts on the transfers.

Rodrigo Bentancur - 18
"I am looking forward to see how Rodrigo plays, although he will get chances I will give him plenty of time to adapt to English football and my tactics. "

Louis Reed - 18
"My Director of football bought in this Advanced Playmaker, I haven't seen much of him but have been assured that he will be a good player for Watford."

Andrija Zivkovic - 19
"After enquiring for Montero and getting asked for 14million, I moved my thoughts to Zivkovic who will be a very useful player even at this young age."

Sime Vrsaljko - 23
"The club have been looking at Sime for a long time before I had joined, when I was told about his ability, coupled with that of Nyom's injury it excites me to watch the fans reaction to him playing."

Isaac Hayden - 20
"Bringing in Isaac allowed us to send Hoban out on loan to get game experience, while he may not be starting straight away I will be giving him a chance throughout the season."

Inaki Williams - 21
"Williams is a impressive signing for this club, and a I still can't quite believe we managed to do it. He brings with him great pace and the ability to play in all 4 attacking positions. Along with this the fee we managed to get him for should surely be called signing of the season. "
Great start so far, good contrast of images and writing that make the story look nice to read if you understand :P Keep it up as it looks an interesting read.

Watford in Disappointing First Match with Newcastle

Jay DeMerit's newly promoted Watford side lost in a disappointing fashion when loosing to Newcastle this week. Newcastle United's electric striker Doumbia bringing the only goal of the game in the first half, with nothing to write home about happening before or after.

Speaking after the game Watford manager DeMerit was positive stating; "The Premier League season is very long, while I got the tactics wrong for this match, I believe we showed enough to prove to people why we belong here.

"I have to thank the goalkeeper Gomes, for keeping us in the game at points although I must expect more from the team, if we are going to progress."

When asked about a quick fix being brought in DeMerit reluctantly responded saying; "I would never bring in a player for a 'quick fix' every player that is at the club will have to prove to us to pay to bring them here."
