Villarreal seal three transfers and break transfer record

Villarreal have managed to conclude three deals as the transfer window slammed shut on August 31st, bringing in Boca Juniors right back, Gino Peruzzi, former Arsenal centre back, Ignasi Miquel, and new record signing, Alberto Paloschi.

Gino Peruzzi was the first of the trio to arrive in a £2,800,000 move from Boca Juniors to replace Mario Gaspar. Believed to be one of the best right backs outside Europe, it looks as though Villarreal have uncovered a gem of a signing after pipping Liverpool to the Argentine's signature.

Ignasi Miquel was perhaps one of the more surprising of transfers this summer, joining Villarreal after only just joining Ponferradina on a free transfer from Arsenal, his £2,900,000 release clause was activated and he moved for the second time in one summer. This time a league above, to compete in Spain's top tier.

''It's very nice to move back home, I was expecting to try and push for promotion with Ponferrdina. But when I got the offer from Villarreal there was only one answer, this is La Liga after all.''

~Ignasi Miquel on his transfer to Villarreal and return home to Spain.

On deadline the final transfer of the summer for the Yellow Submarine was confirmed in the shape of Italian striker, Alberto Paloschi. With an outlay of £13,000,000 he is now Villarreal's record transfer, and aims to please the fans and pay back the fee in goals.

''I've been trusted with the brilliant opportunity to play in this league, at an excellent and challenge for trophies and play in Europe. And I want to show I'm worth it, I hope that we can have a long and successful relationship at Villarreal.''

~Alberto Paloschi on joining Villarreal.

Champions League football is certainly Villarreal's main target, and with their mix of experience and youth they should definitely challenge this season.
Nice signing in Paloschi, he's been great since joining Swansea in real life imo. Hopefully he repays you with some goals ;)
Lots of new blood into the squad!

Cheers mate, going to have to replicate that form now!

Some really good and intriguing signings here mate! Hopefully the outlay pays off for you!

Thanks mate, I like to mix it up and make new transfers whenever I do a new save. We'll have to see how the signings fair. ;)

A poor game really, Ruben Rochina came closest to breaking the deadlock. His shot blocked on 80 minutes by Gino Peruzzi.

Despite Ludogorets dominating the possession (62% to our 38%) we restricted to just four shots on goal, none of which were on target. The game was ultimately decided by Alberto Paloschi's first goal for us, powering home a header from a Gino Peruzzi cross.

Paloschi was on target again against a struggling Athletic Bilbao side, the first goal of his brace was a simple tap in after a a quick free kick from Jonathan Dos Santos found its way to Nahuel Leiva to play it over to Paloschi who was able to easily roll the ball into the net. His second was another header, this time after a cross from Samuel was nodded past Gorka Iraizoz

Another 2-0 win, this time at Malaga's expense. Denis Suarez scored the opener, a left footed curler into the top right after Cedric Bakambu turned two Malaga defenders. And we sealed the deal when Samuel smashed home a rebound from a corner.

September ended with a huge clash against Diego Simeone's Atletico Madrid, in a close 2-1 victory for us. However it was Atletico who took the lead through Antoine Griezmann, the Frenchman pounced on a loose ball from a corner to give the visitors the lead. But the lead didn't last long. Denis Suarez with his second goal in as many games. With a vicious volley into the bottom left corner from a Gino Peruzzi cross. And with just two minutes of normal time to go our Italian Stallion, Alberto Paloschi, flicked on another Gino Peruzzi cross to grab a late winner, and send El Madrigal into pandemonium.

Gino Peruzzi takes his first player of the month award after some stellar performances, helping us to concede just one goal whilst setting up four. He's proved to be a bargain so far and brilliant in attack and defence.

We've carried on our impressive August form, and sit joint top of La Liga on 16 points and a further three ahead of Real Madrid. October sees us continue our Europa League campaign in away trips to Qarabag and Copenhagen, as well as a tough game at home to Sevilla.
What a month! only slip up was the Granada game but even then a clean sheet is something to take from it! Keep it up!
Great month, awesome result against Atletico by the way :D

Cheers mate, yeah the Granada game was poor from our points of view but the defence has been excellent so far!

A very disappointing 0-0 draw in Azerbaijan against Qarabag. Despite having some excellent chances we failed to score against a less than resilient Qarabag. Alberto Paloschi had a shot blocked from point blank range by Tural Karimov on 49 minutes. However they did hit the crossbar through Azad Camalov, but the rebound was cleared by Mateo Musacchio. I thought we'd snatched a late winner, but Alberto Paloschi's 89th minute strike was correctly ruled offside.

Our first league defeat of the season came against local rivals Levante. After just 33 minutes we found ourselves 2-0 down. The uncharacteristic nature of Alphonse Areola's mistake, flapping at the cross which allowed Alvaro Traver to head home, set the tone for a poor game. And less than half an hour later Areola was at fault again, this time misjudging a cross along the floor to allow Nabil Ghilas an empty net to stab the ball in. Roberto Soldado provided hope when he volleyed in a Cedric Bakambu cross, but it wasn't enough and we got we deserved in a poor showing.

Our first defeat of the season was quickly followed by our first home defeat of the season, as we crashed again in another poor performance at home to Celta Vigo. Jonny provided the only goal of the game, somehow able to jink past the defence and curl the ball into the corner in the 75th minute.

Soldado 74

Despite our stuttering league form, our Europa League campaign remained in full swing. Roberto Soldado's powerful header from (almost) the edge of the area after 74 minutes gave us the lead before an extremely nervy finish. Tomas Pina was sent off for a second yellow card after pushing over Danny Norager in the box. After two minutes of delay, due mainly to protesting, Kasper Kusk stepped up to take the penalty, a weak left footed effort that was easily palmed away by Areola who was the hero of the night after a string of impressive saves.

Our only La Liga win of October came away against Las Palmas. We took the lead inside eight minutes after a mix up in Las Palmas backline, Alberto Paloschi latching onto a loose throw in before walloping the ball into the top right corner. But just ten minutes later Sergio Araujo ran onto an excellent through ball to equalise for the hosts. But three minutes into the second half Samu Castillejo scored an absolute screamer after wrapping his left foot round a loose ball just inside the area. The win was topped off with a penalty from Bruno after Nahuel Leiva was hacked down in the area by David Simon. The penalty was placed high ro the right of the goal to give us a much needed three points.

Our third La Liga loss in four games, but this time we deserved something from the game. Mateo Musacchio rattled the crossbar with a bullet header from a corner in the 31st minute. Then in the 44th minute Alberto Paloschi squeezed a header wide. Before Vitolo gave the visitors the lead after getting in behind Gino Peruzzi to take a chipped pass and poke past Areola to provide the ultimate winner.

Despite the results not going our way in October, our captain Bruno lead by example. Giving his all as per usual, and scoring the penalty that sealed the win over Las Palmas.

Despite just one La Liga win in October we maintained our position in the top four, but we are just one point ahead of Valencia and Rayo Vallecano who lie in 5th and 6th respectively. In November we face a huge clash at the Camp Nou against table topping Barcelona, and face a tough away trip to Bulgaria to face Ludogorets in the Europa League.
Not a fabulous month, but you still have a good position in the league! Use this month to build up a bit of revenge for this month :P
