Hello all & welcome to my latest FM16 story, Adalari FK, A New Dawn.

Now. Many of you will not have heard of Adalari FK & there is a good reason for that, I made them up! You see, this is an idea that I have been thinking about for well over 12 months & Is the result of much editing & experimentation.

Initially this was going to be my first story for the year but I had to wait for the editor &, in the excitement of the forums opening, I started an Everton save instead. Unfortunately, at the moment, I can’t find the motivation to continue that save so I’ve returned to this.

I stumbled on the inspiration for this story whilst perusing the net in one of my many bored moments.

It seems an Azeri billionaire is developing a Dubai-esque mega city called The Khazar Islands in Azerbaijan & this got me to thinking: how would one of those oil rich middle eastern clubs fair in the rough & tumble world of European football?

I decided I’d find out! It only makes sense that a potentially world class city would need a potentially world class football team right?

Now, as I already mentioned, this is not a new idea for me & the approach I’ve taken to it has changed many times as I’ve experimented with budgets & the like. To begin with I tried to copy a rich middle Eastern clubs finances exactly but found that it made the domestic league far too easy & hence, boring! So I pulled back a little.

Adalari FK will be the most reputable team in Azerbaijan with budgets (200K wages, 5M transfer) that will be the envy of all other sides in the country, however, I think we can all agree, that on a continental level, those numbers are miniscule, which will add to the fun!

In addition to creating the city, the team & the facilities myself, I have also added the league & cups my way, which has allowed me to be a little creative with its structure & hopefully add a bit more interest to proceedings.

My next post will cover how I went about creating these competitions & the rules I’ve used to attempt to keep them interesting.

Anyway, I hope everyone will find this idea as interesting to read as it was to create. Obviously there will be more details to follow, however, if anyone has any questions about the set up etc. feel free to ask. Otherwise sit back & enjoy Adalari FK, A new Dawn.

Btw, there will be a banner, just haven’t got around to making it yet! :P

League Overview

Ok, so as you can see, the addition of Adalari FK makes the Azeri first division a 10 team competition. The current holders, & my main threat, are Qarabag Agdam.

As far as structure goes, each team will play one another 4 times to pad the season out a little, with the top 4 at the end entering into the Championship playoffs. These are one off knock out games to decide the final champion with an additional 3.5M awarded to the winner, over & above the 1.5M for winning the league.

I am hoping this format will add a little more unpredictability to proceedings as it will take just one bad day at the office to lose the championship. It should also be noted however, that continental qualification goes off your final league position not the playoffs, hence the increased prize money to make the playoffs more meaningful.

At the other end, the bottom side will be relegated with 2nd from bottom entering a one off game to attempt to keep their top flight status.

Other points of interest may be the foreign player cap (8) & the limited squad size (25).

Cup Structure

For this competition I decided to do something completely different with NO foreign players being eligible to play!

This should ensure that proper attention is paid to the recruitment & development of local talent as the cup also provides a path way to European football.

It should be pointed out that a side goal of this experiment is to improve the overall competitiveness of both the Azeri league & national side. Along with the foreign player cap, this competition should be a major contributor towards that.

In addition to the 2 comps I've highlighted here, there is also a super cup that pits the league champions against the cup winners but that is pretty standard & doesn't really merit discussion beyond its existence.

So, that's pretty much it I think. My next update will be about the club & its facilities & the like. As always, any questions feel free to ask. I've tried to keep this as brief as possible so its quite possible I've forgotten to mention something! :)

Adalari Appoint Karpin

Newly formed Azeri club, Adalari FK, have today unveiled former Russian international, Valeri Karpin, as the clubs inaugural manager.

Karpin, 47, had previously enjoyed stints in charge of Russian side, Spartak Moscow, Spaniards, Mallorca &, most recently Torpedo Armivir in the Russian 1st Division with mixed results throughout his short career.

Speaking to media today, Karpin revealed that he was delighted to be given another opportunity in top flight European football & described the task of building an entire team from the ground up as "A once in a life time opportunity."

Adalari owner, Ibrahim Ibrahimov, has already made it clear that the manager would receive full financial backing from the board as part of his ambitious plan to put an Azeri side amongst the elite of European football.

Whether the billionaires vision can be bought to life will now be largely in the hands of Karpin who's every move is sure to watched by the adoring residents of Ibrahimov's new billionaires play ground, The Khazar Islands.
nice work mate in the editing though did u mkae some of the other clubs backed by a sugar daddy as well like a Chinese or Middle Eastern league as you were saying you based the club off of?

That is something I'm still debating. All clubs got an increased balance as a result of the leagues "new investment" but I'm thinking it wouldn't hurt to have another 1 or 2 clubs backed by some serious investors!

What does everyone else think? Yes or no on more sugar daddy's?

why not make 1 or 2 always fun to have rivals to beat

I tend to agree, thinking maybe a Man City consortium takeover, maybe a Red Bull franchise as well. That ought to throw the cat amongst the pigeons ;)

In the end I only set my SD as background so a couple of cashed up clubs with links around the world could make things very interesting :)

The Azeri FA has today announced that record investment in the league will see prize money for the nations elite competition sky rocket.

Sources from inside the games governing body have estimated that the total prize money on offer this year could exceed the 50M mark. A remarkable amount for such a small, undeveloped league.

The FA declined to put an exact figure on the leagues new prize pool however the news has reportedly already attracted attention from several high profile investors looking to stake a claim for their piece of the pie.

Rumours of potential interest from CFG (City Football Group) as well as the Red Bull consortium have now surfaced with both groups said to be interested in getting in on the ground floor of what looks to be Europe's next big footballing market.

Newly formed Adalari FK looked to have the inside running on the leagues new prize pool, having received backing from Azeri billionaire, Ibrahim Ibrahimov. However, these latest developments may see the club forced into the back ground as some of the biggest investors in world football look to invest in the small nation.

As yet, there has been no mention of which clubs either consortium may target, or if indeed this speculation will actually lead to any concrete bids. The one thing we can be sure of however is that the game in Azerbaijan may never be the same.
