Me too actually, have had to change a few things so just want to run a couple of tests to make sure I haven't missed anything. Will upload the file for others to play as well if there is interest :)

CFG Complete Sumqayit Takeover.

Yesterday FK Sumqayit were a small club plying their trade in the relative obscurity of the Azeri Premier Division. Funds were low & so were expectations. Their squad, almost completely dependent on unknown, & possibly under-rated, local talent. That was yesterday.

Today Sumqayit City (as they will hence forth be known) is the envy of football clubs around the globe, becoming the latest addition to CFG’s (City Football Group’s) world-wide empire.

Founder of CFG, Khaldoon Al Mubarak , this morning announced that negotiations between the group & the clubs former owners were completed over night with CFG set to take over operations at the club immediately.

City’s interest in the new found wealth available in the Azeri league had been widely reported however, the speed at which the deal was done has come as a shock to many experts who believed a deal, if one ever materialised, would take months or even years to complete.

It is believed that Sumqayit’s status as the cities (Azerbaijan’s 3rd largest) sole professional football team, along with its 26000 capacity stadium & other facilities, made it the ideal target for the group, with the clubs flailing finances also making the deal attractive to its former owners.

Al Mubarak went on to reveal that the club would be backed by the full financial might of CFG, both on the field & off, with plans to improve both training & youth facilities already in the works.

As well as being rebranded Sumqayit City, the club will also adopt Manchester’s Iconic sky blue strip & are already benefiting from their new partnership with the announcement that young City playmaker, Sinan Bytyqi, will join the club on a season long loan as part of the new arrangement.

Club Overview

This could be something big if you carry on with it! Great imagination mate :)

Red Bull Buy FC Baki

The Red Bull consortium, owners of franchises in Austria, Germany, the US & Brazil, have today added another football side to their list of investments, announcing that they have completed the purchase of Azeri 2nd division side FC Baki.

In stark contrast to newly invested CFG, Red Bull seem to have taken a long term approach to investment in the newly well off nation, rolling the dice on FC Baki's ability to bounce back to the top flight in order to stake their claim for the prize money on offer.

"We see FC Baki, or Red Bull Baki as they will now be known, as the perfect investment opportunity" A spokesman for the group declared. "Their location in the nations capital, along with the potential to be one of the biggest clubs in the country & easy access to quality facilities all made the deal an attractive proposition for ourselves, while the sides recent relegation meant the clubs former owners were keen to listen to what we had to offer."

"We will most definitely be making significant investment in the clubs facilities, however, due to the relative obscurity of the league we find ourselves in, any meaningful on field investment will most probably be reliant on securing promotion. Never the less, we feel confident that we have made a smart move here & have the utmost confidence in the squad to achieve our ambitions."

Red Bull Baki will begin their assault on the Birici Dasta as favourites to secure promotion, which suggests the consortium have done their homework, but the true measure of success will be recorded in the wins column.

Sumqayit Confirm Keirrison Capture!

Newly wealthy, Sumqayit City, have today unveiled their first signing of the CFG era confirming their capture of former Barcelona striker, Keirrison, on a 5 year deal.

The 26 year old Brazilian arrives on a free transfer, for a reported 35K p/w, & will be keen to prove his worth to his new employers, having been infamously dubbed "The worst signing in Barcelona history."

Regardless, supporters have greeted the news positively sighting the Brazilians flair & composure as evidence that their new man would do well for the club & propel them into the title race.

"Keirrison is an extremely talented player with the ability to create something out of nothing" A spokesperson for supporters went on. "We believe he'll have a massive influence on the side & win us points on his own."

Yeah, the leagues rep hasn't been improved though so initially the money will make less difference. In fact in the few little tests I've run, its almost impossible to spend it all!

Also, remember, all clubs have received a balance boost so they all should improve their standards slightly. Am about to do a summary of the changes I've made ahead of uploading the file for others to have a play with :)

Ok, so I think I am about ready to start the save again so I thought I'd do a little wrap of the changes I've made & explain why I chose to make them before I upload the file.

The League

Not many changes from what I initially described here. The big one is the increased prize money which now scales down from 7.5M for the winners, to 1.5M for last place.

The reason I chose to do this is because, in my head, I needed a reason why these large investors would suddenly be interested in the league. 7.5M doesn't seem like a lot when compared to the EPL or Bundesliga however when you consider the winner of Serie A receives just a tad over 3M, it is a significant amount.

The only other real change I made was to add end of year awards for top goal scorer etc.

Adalari

Again, not many changes. I pulled the clubs rep back a little & we now sit as the 3rd most reputable club in the country behind holders Qarabag & Sumqayit City. I thought that was a little more realistic.

The club also has 7 Azeri players on the books. These are guys I signed when I first started the save & are mostly available on free's. This was just done to save me the tedium of having to sign them again. All players are on well over what they asked for in wages & those amounts have been deducted from my free wage budget.

Sumqayit City

Lots of changes here. Apart from the obvious name change, I made them the richest & most reputable team in the country. I thought both were a given.

I've also added 3 foreign players to give them a kick start. Sinan Bytqi, on loan from Man City, the already unveiled Keirrison as well as former Reading winger Jimmy Kebe on a 2 year deal.

There are a couple of reasons I did this. 1) Just to put me a little more behind the 8 ball. 2) To propel them from mid/lower table into the title race & 3) Despite all the money, from the tests I did, the manager seemed reluctant to break the current wage structure too much, so I changed it for him :P

I tried to keep transfers realistic, free & not over the top.

I thought it would be a given that City would help out with a loan, Bytqi seemed an obvious candidate. Kebe being 31 & without a club too, I thought would be a likely pick up for the short term, while Keirrison is probably the most disputable, however I thought it wouldn't be beyond the realms of possibility for the club to lash out on a top-line (for the league) striker given their resources.

I actually had a bit of a play with Sumqayit & they are a fun side! A few smart moves in the market & they could be causing upsets in Europe in no time! Probably the closest thing to the middle eastern clubs that I had initially sought to recreate.

Red Bull Baki

Again, not a lot changed here. Re-named, new, sugar daddy owners & a move back to their larger stadium. That's about it. Oh, & some improvements in facilities.

I think this club will be an interesting experiment to see how they do. Obviously they should achieve promotion but I wonder how long it will take them to become contenders?

That's about it really. Unfortunately I haven't had a chance to do a long term sim to see how finances pan out or anything like that. Hopefully all will be well. I will upload the file at the bottom here when I get the chance, probably not for a couple of days, sadly.

Once its up, if anyone wants to have a play & fill me in on their progress or any probs, feel free. I think it should be a fun little DB. Thanks. :)

Sumqayit Appoint Kinkladze.

The City Football Group, owners of Azeri club Sumqayit City, have turned to a former favourite as they begin their assault Premyer Liqasi, announcing Georgi Kinkladze as the clubs new manager.

Kinkladze, a former Georgian international, played 106 league games for Manchester City in the mid to late 90's, becoming a fan favourite with his skill on the ball & spectacular goals.

"We are delighted to welcome Giorgi to the club." A spokesman for the group revealed. "Giorgi is a fantastic person & possesses a great football brain. We have every confidence that he Is the right man for the job."

The role is 42 year old Kinkladze's first venture into the world of management, but if his side can produce the same flair & excitement the Georgian managed throughout his career, there is little doubt he will be a hit with supporters & pundits everywhere.

OHHHHHHH KINKY! MANCHESTER CITY LEEGGGENDDDDD!!!!!!!!
Kinkladze is a great player..

Are you playing with Qarabag??
and are they getting bought by Sugar daddy.
and Qabala also...
Just Curious to know.
Anyway Good luck.
and upload the save as earlier as you can
Kinkladze!! This is really coming together now mate :D
Thanks to everyone for your comments, they are very much appreciated!

Have edited the post above to include the download link for the editor file. Just place it in the usual place, start a new game, select the file & you'll be all set to go.

I'm still yet to start my save so you'll be playing I before I am!

Have never shared a file this way before so if there are any problems with the link etc. let me know. Have put Kinkladze in charge at Sumqayit as well as Karpin at Adalari so ifyou want to manage another team they'll still be there!

Feel free to update me on your progress, or any probs you encounter, in this thread. Good luck with it &, above all else, have fun! :)
