Who will win the 2010 World Cup? (209 votes)
Who, in your opinion, will win the 2010 South Africa World Cup?

In light of the group draw which is happening today, I have only included the main seeded teams as specific options. If you think another team will win, please let everyone know. Obviously there are France and Portugal to consider amongst others.

Personally, I hope England win (but as always my hopes are sky high just waiting to be crushed by an aweful quarter final draw) but failing that I would look forward to a Spain - Brazil final. That would probably be the most exciting match on offer and an exhibition of football at its absolute peak.
I dont know, England's not as "English" as it used to be (no offence to my english friends who I respect and like very much but that was actually a compliment) the team seem more cutthroat, more ruthless and more serious. It could actually be England's year provided they get one or two easy breaks
What do people think of the "Group of Death" this year?!?!

* BRAZIL
* IVORY COAST
* PORTUGAL
* N. KOREA

My first thought: All three of the N.Korea matches are going to be AWESOME!! That is a must win game for all three other teams, and any of them that don't get a result will seriously struggle to qualify. So much as a draw will seriously mess things up. Thus, they'll all be looking to absolutely batter N.Korea! Great times!
spain all the way!
i would like to see england win, its been a long time since they won. and i think it would be a special final if they played in it.

but i would have liked england to have won the world cup at least a decade or so more ago, because they used to have real teams then.

now there are too many egoism and such.
i go for england...they have many players who are 27-30 yo, witch means that they have a great football experience and they are not past their prime.its the perfect balance betwen the two.other favorites are portugal, brasil and spain(not in this order...)
Come on people, we all know North Korea is going to win the group of death. Heck they're probably going to win the whole tournament on goal margins of 3 in each match. :D Joking aside, I'm rooting for New Zealand to go past the group stage.
x-law : Joking aside, I'm rooting for New Zealand to go past the group stage.

Thats a very big ask for the current New Zealand team, but if it happened you have a nation to be very very proud of. Good luck!
you know Spain will won, we have the best goalkeeper(Casillas), the best player of euro,(Xavi), a lot of players of Barcelona(winners of three competitions), and more,

now we are hungry of titles, we want to beat brazil at final. Capello is very defensive, he do miracles, with Real Madrid he did. England had a great team but there are betters teams
Capello is not defensive at all, defense is Englands biggest problem at the moment! No matter what combination of defenders we play its like they get complacent and make silly mistakes, all the time. As mentioned before, hes made England far more ruthless in attack if nothing else.

But youre right, Spains first team is amazing right now, and it will most likely be Brazil and Spain in the final, which would be pretty awesome to watch.
Netherlands
Look how they owned Italy and France at the European Cup last year. And Russia isn't at the World Cup so it's a sure-win.
I laugh at anybody who says England:dontgetit

I know they have experience but...

maybe it's the u.s. year! that'll be the day...

:D
i vote for england....
The best thing about this World Cup is that there are a lot of teams who have an outside chance (combination of luck and determination) of winning it this time. Though I'd personally would want a final between La Furia Roja and the Selecao
As an Englishman I personally think it will be between Spain and Brazil. Although I think England have improved vastly under Fabio Capello, I still don't think they really want it enough. There is the problem that has persisted over the last 10 years or so where the players just don't put in the same shift as they do for their Club (namely Gerrard and Lampard - if these guys played with as much passion as they do for their clubs then England would have a great chance!).

On a personal note, I'm also banking on England being knocked out at the Quarter Finals as I am hitting the USA for 5 weeks in early July and don't want to have to try and follow England over there... it wont be the same!
